Jetstar: Bali from PER/DRW $172, MEL/Bris $256, ADL $261, SYD $282, HBA $341, CBR (Virgin) $358 [Apr-Jun] @ BeatThatFlight

530

Return leg from $136 depending on route.

With last week's announcement that international travel will begin restarting, Jetstar's selling flights to Bali, as well as other Online travel agencies! (Note: If you're a paid member of Jetstar Club, there are cheaper prices for you on their website.)

Note: The Canberra prices (and some other dates with other cities) are with Virgin, I wasn't paying attention to the airline on each page of results.

All prices are one-way, and all flights include 7kg carry-on luggage for your Bintang tshirt and thongs!

Buyer beware - while the federal government has indicated travel will be possible, anything could change, for all we know.

I've added the return leg prices at the bottom.

voted up for the effort. It's been 2 years since I was home (Indonesia). :(

    • Thanks! Bali or elsewhere?

  • No way bali will be on the fly list next year

    • +5

"Morrison told reporters in Canberra that vaccinated Australians would not face “red lane” arrangements banning travel to certain countries"

Something pretty big would have to change for him to reverse that in next year's election year.

      • +5

Will come down to state policies also

        • +1

Which is really sad for us in Vic :(

        • +1

And any restrictions that may be in place in the other country.

      • Morrison has a habit of denying things he previously said.

        • +9

Scotty from marketing also said all Australians would be home by Christmas (last year) buy at own risk

        • +2

The State Premiers have a habit of backtracking on the agreements they made with the national govt on Covid. For this plan of international travel opening up we are relying on the States not Federal govt.

    • +1

where else will the bogans go though?

      /s

      • to the races

  • +1

Still waiting to see of the Aus Gov gives a list of countries we CAN'T travel to - I would reckon countries like India and Indonesia would be on that list.

    • see comment above - they've said they won't.

      • -1

See comment below that, it's actually up to the states. Feds can let you into the airport, the states can say, you can't leave it.

        • +1

it's actually up to the states

Says who? The Australian Constitution says otherwise, but states are apparently using 'Public Health Orders' to override the Constitution. I've heard that there are legal challenges underway so let's see what the High Court says about it.

          • @1st-Amendment: I've heard they'll dismissed the case…. Hearsay is meaningless.

But at the moment it is up to the states. The states have the right to restrict movement for the greater good of their citizens, The High Court has already ruled that. It's not unconstitutional. That was a unanimous decision, by a High Court with a majority of conservative judges. That's pretty emphatic.

People like to bang in about Clive Palmer's case & section 92, but that had nothing to do with the general population, he launched it with regards to his business being headquartered interstate and the border restrictions impeded free trade, as per Section 92.

I know many commentators like to bang on about it being unconstitutional, but if they even bothered to spend 5mins reading the High Court judgement summary from the Palmer case, they'd see why it's not.

Here it is, it's fairly easy to read & understand

Indonesia with Covid and their hospital system . Lol

    • +10

Their whole country had fewer cases yesterday than Victoria… :/

      • +6

        Based on how many tests?

      • Victoria probably doing more testing, if they want the daily new cases number to go down just stop doing as many tests.

      • I would much prefer a slight chance of needing intubation in Victoria over a slighter chance of needing it in Bali.

      • And 75 new deaths. They haven't opened up to OS tourists yet (due next week).

That's the risk, if you catch it over there, what do you do? You won't be allowed on a plane back to Oz.

      • It depends if you believe the data or not

  • Love your work OP! Upvote from me

    • thank you, appreciate it!

  • +3

yes good idea, waste your money while ur told sorry its been cancelled, or you get there then stuck and cant fly back. why risk that?

  • +13

The unvaxed crowd are big Bali goers - from the bogans to the wellness nutters.

Could become a decent destination if these losers are excluded.

    • -1

so anywhere from Coffs harbour to the sunshine coast

    • +8

What a divisive and ignorant comment.

      • +2

some people revel in passing judgment and creating division, have a +

      • -5

        Truth hurts.

    • -1

Stastics/Studies are revealing that the dominant group of vaccine hesitants are the highly educated, eg University, PHD etc
Its more likely that its the bogans that are getting vaccinated.

      • link?

    • I think being less able to smoke indoors in Bali than ever before keeps more 'bogans' away.

  • +4

Hopefully them pilots remember how to fly… If they can find enough pilots to fly the routes, that is.

  • +2

yea the boys time to fk off to Bali

      BINTANNNGGSS

      • Babi Guling!!! And Bintang!

  • Any upcoming plans for deals on Newcastle or Bisbane/Gold Coast to Melbourne in the coming months?

    • We just look for deals, so here's hoping!

  • Not sure I'd be game to book again through MyTrip. Currently in the midst of trying to get a refund after an interstate flight was cancelled by the airline and it's been anything but painless.

  • +1

    I can’t even remember what’s a good deal and what isn’t anymore

  • If it's $282 one way from Sydney,
Does that mean I can book one way on the return leg and also pay $282?

    • It's actually cheaper on the way back, generally

    • +1

Have added the return leg prices now, btw

      • +1

Appreciate you doing that. Was seriously considering taking the punt, however at $530 return, I suspect that I should hold our for cheaper deals. Not uncommon to see Malindo Air flights at $300-$400 return (vs $530 here)

        I'll hold off. thanks!

        • +1

All good, I'm looking forward to those deals too :D

  • Is it just me or is the price of Melbourne to Bali for $256 one way not that great? Pre-Covid there were sub $300 Return fares. One would have thought there would be actual bargains to combat hesitancy?

    • +1

I dont think so, I think it will get very expensive to travel. Everyone is ready for a holiday and has cash saved up over the last couple years, once things open up everyone will be pulling the trigger. I think it will be a worse market than we have seen for graphics cards and cars.

      • At least we can start to see deals with 'TRS Eligible'.

In regards to second hand cars, yes the prices have gone up but we struggled to sell our 2020 model X3 with heaps of options. I listed it for $71k ($3k) lower than the cheapest on carsales and still took 5 weeks, ended up selling it to a car dealer in perth for $66k. At least we got 6 months reg money back and didn't have to worry about RWC but some of the second hand car owners are dreaming.

    • Do you realise what happened in the past 2 years?

      • Yes, have you read the comments just on this thread? Even bargain hunters are hesitant so I would have thought there would be more incentives.

  • Joy of Joy

    Aussie Aussie….oi oi oi

The Bintang Express will once more be flying from SYD to DPS.

    See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qaTINQEoC4

  • +4

Honestly, Bali is the most overrated travel destination by Australians. It's really not that great and it's really not even cheap. But I suppose anywhere will do after 2 years of no holidays.

    • +1

Resorts are unparalleled for the price. Food was really underwhelming though

      • Maybe in the resorts the food is subpar, but the best restaurants in Bali are world class. They are Aussie equivalent prices tho (usually because they are run by Aussies)

    • +1

Bali is the most overrated travel destination by Australians.

Maybe you're just going to the wrong places?
Some parts of Bali are pretty trashy, but others are much better and I've found most people who complained didn't do their research. (ie went to Kuta)

      • Probably just Legian or Kuta. I hate that area. Canggu is probably the best place I’ve been to lately.

  • -3

Hmmm, "beatthatflight". Early on in the COVID epidemic I couldn't tell if he was shitposting or a moneygrubber (e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/523604), so now I'm extra hesitant to even read his deals.

But the upvotes reflect shitvoting on OzBargain more than anything. Even non-beatthatflight deals that were obviously crap (for anyone financially literate), like that AirAsia pass before they went into hibernation.

  • It irrationally annoys me that you put the correct airport codes for all of the Australian cities, but wrote "Bris" instead of "BNE"!

    • +1

Me too, but while the others mostly obviously reflect their names, any time I do "BNE" someone flags it or comments as unclear :/

      • +1

I think anyone who uses Brizvegas airport knows that its BNE (maybe try BNE/Bris to cover everyone's irrational/ignorant tantrums ;-)

        • +1

haha, also a limited number of characters allowed in the title :/

  • Quarantine required in return?

    • Will likely be 7 day in home at first in high vax states.

  • +2

FYI Bali is trialling an 8 day hotel quarantine on arrival and is only opening to a limited list of countries at this stage. This list doesn’t include Australia.

    • thats right now, the flights being sold are from April onwards. Its clearly obvious that if there is still an 8 day quarantine in April 2022, that neither Jetstar nor anyone else will be flying to Indonesia, because frankly hardly anyone will want to go.

    • +2

The 8 day quarantine has been reduced to 5 days. Australia is not on the list, but NZ is.

You will also need $US100,000 insurance, including COVID-19 cover.

You will also have to be fully vaccinated and can show proof of pre-paid accommodation.

There are also requirements for negative PCR tests before departure and after quarantine.

  • +1

Jetstar return for free sale is always end of oct/early nov.. that will be much cheaper than this.

    • Always? COVID may have something to say about that :-)

  • Hi OP, Why is it cheaper to fly from Hobart than Canberra?

    • Hah, good catch. It's because Jetstar doesn't fly from Canberra - that one's Virgin. I'll update the description.

  • Praying to the OZ Bargain Gods to give us a discount to Madrid

    • I see demand for Europe flights outstripping supply next year. Wont be much in the way of discounts once quarantine travel opens up next year. Maybe into Northern hemisphere winter 2022?

  • Travel insurance that covers covid-related health/quarantine/cancellation issues may be a tricky one I can’t seem to find an easy answer.

    • Have you looked into Heymondo? Haven't used it myself as still here in Aus (for now), but seems to get a bit of a mention among those who left the country on the travel exemption groups.

  • +1

so one week in quarantine in bali upon arrival, and one week another quarantine upon return. a fully vaccinated person shouldn't agree to this.

    • Cheap, long holiday (a few months) and the 1 week at either end doing Netflix and chill, should be fine.

The week at either side minimises your "infective" period out in the community. Even fully vaxxed, you may contract COVID and be spreading it around. Its not 100% preventative, it just reduces the potential number of people infected by you.

  • avoid crapstar at all costs …

  • I think I’m more excited to read the terms and conditions apply for these flights / holiday / govt regulations / restrictions / etc .

  • +1

    Flights are cheap.
5 day hotel quarantine bali cost are expensive.
I think the free 30 day visa on arrival has gone, more expense.
    Higher cost insurance required.
    PCR tests expensive.
5 days + travel time lost from a holiday less than 2 weeks?
Wearing a mask outdoors in the tropics.

Hopefully some requirements will be eased soon.

The cost for PCR Swab is between IDR 800.000 to 1.200.000 while Rapid Antigen is cheaper between IDR 170.000 to 400.000.
