  • Best wireless headphones without ANC!

  • Love my buds+ tempted to pick up a backup pair haha

    • My Buds+ died (off with Samsung for warranty) and I've really missed them since they've been out of action, I hadn't realised how much I use them. There have been deals as low as $100 for them, at that price it's almost worthwhile picking up another pair.

  • I was looking at this too, great price! Just comparing this with the new buds 2, anyone has any thoughts which is better?
    Thanks!

    • +2

If you don't care about anc then this one. As it has a better fit and lasts longer. Really hard to tell the sound difference unless you try them on next to each other. Buds 2 is really light though and anc is good to have on PTV.

  • +1

Sold my gen 1 last week for $90 and got pixel buds for 135. should have waited

    • None of them are really an upgrade. Pro might be, Buds2 may be after a Bluetooth LE Audio update.

  • Would people recommend the buds live?

    • +2

      No.
Unless you just want them for meetings/calls.

    • If you like magic beans

  • Thx OP. I lost my pair. No brainer at this price. Love the 11 hour battery life.

  • The Pro is better?

    • False

      • Depends.
Pro has ANC.. but it also has a warmer FR. Both track Harman quite well (particularly the +’s).

I have the Buds+ (and highly recommend them) But am keen to grab the Pro’s on sale.

        • Is it the pros or the new new buds that have the oval eartip? Lots of complaints about fitment with those.

          • @krisspy: Yeah, its the Pro's which have the oval shape.

But then so are the Airpod Pro's, and I've always found they fit great shrug.

  • These or Jabra Elite 75ts? present for someone with a S21, thanks!

    • +3

75ts. Only downside of the jabras is you can only use the right ear bud for single use. But it does have ANC and multipoint.

Also, jabra case doesn't have wireless charging.

      • Jabra have awful tuning unfortunately.

        65t are much better sounding.

    • +1

These are better than Jabra in most ways but don't have ANC so depends what you want.

I do love my Buds+, if you are buying them though, check your phone to make sure you can manage the bluetooth power on the phone. I moved to a cheaper phone with NFC (over a still cheap but no NFC phone) but their OS doesn't have a way of boosting bluetooth power/making it run as a priority. There can be some issues around the lack of this setting on a phone, especially if you're tall and built, with going walking with your phone in a deep pocket and the bluetooth cutting out/jumping up to 1 second delay, being able to boost the bluetooth fixes this issue.

If you're a shorty/not going to use them with your phone in your pocket while walking (arm bands are still a thing I hear?) or just playing music off your smartwatch, this probably won't be an issue. They are awesome minus this issue, but it is an issue I don't have when I use my partner's Sony WFX3 or w/e they are called, the sony noise-cancelling ear buds. Have tried my friend's Buds+ at work and the same issue occurs when I try his on phones that don't have the bluetooth boost option (he is also a 6'6 islander and had the same problem until I showed him the bluetooth boosting option in his samsung phone).

edit: looks like they are cheaper on eBay atm from ninja buy:

  • What are these like when talking - do they allow you to hear yourself sufficiently, or does it sound like you're speaking with your ears blocked? If you've experienced this with some models of buds you'll know what I mean.

I'm currently rocking some Powerbeats, but also looking for a pair that aren't over-ear.

    • +1

They're OK. I have colleagues try to use them for zoom meeting in the office while i'm WFH and it's a pretty shit experience trying to understand them over the butt slapping and hulk-hogan voices of the sales team behind him.

    • I find they're okay when you're sitting at home or somewhere quiet taking calls. But as soon as you're outside and there's traffic or wind the call quality drops, but this is the case with most bluetooth earphones. But yeah, it does sound like you're speaking with your ears blocked.

    • I know exactly what you mean - you can set them up so they play back ambient sounds, including your voice, during calls. Completely fixes the problem of not hearing yourself while maintaining isolation when you need it.

  • Anyone knows how well it works with apple devices?

    • i used buds+ with my iPh12 and it works great

    • I use AirPods with my Android device, Apple and Android-oriented products work perfectly fine together, as they connect together purely off Bluetooth.

  • I got a pair from PCByte from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/634361

The touch controls stopped working after about 2-3 months so I sent them in for warranty. Unfortunately they didn't have stock to replace it so I just got a refund.
When they're working they're a fantastic set of buds, used them for many runs and never had a connection issue and battery life is phenomenal.

  • You can get better sound quality from other buds in this price range, but the added features of the Galaxy buds make up for the reduced sound quality.

    • I like the sound quality of the buds+ even comparing them to my partner's sony ANC earbuds - what extra features are you talking about though, I didn't realise they had anything special compared to others 🤔

        • Ambient mode

        • extra controls (including double edge tap if activated with Samsung phone)

        • audio delay reduction (when used with a Samsung phone)

        • hmm, i might have to buy a samsung phone.. oof.

    • +1

Rubbish, nothing in this price range has better sound quality. Name a model that you think has a better more accurate sound profile.

      • Sennheiser CX 400bt. Much better sound quality (I own both)

Not just my opinion though. Check comparison reviews and the Senny's usually win out.

        • lol. They are not even close rtings sound accuracy ratings 7.9 for buds+ vs 6.7 for Sennheiser. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/samsung-gala…

          • @noise36: Cool rtings don't rate them highly. Yet googling "Samsung Buds Plus vs Sennheiser CX 400BT" results in pages of reviewers saying they prefer the sound quality of the Senny's.

            • @GunnerMcDagget: Ratings does a technical analysis not some random anecdotal opinion. i.e facts vs personal preferences

The Sennheiser are fine, just don't have as accurate a sound profile as buds+ which is the opposite of your claim.

              • @noise36: No it's not. My claim was that the Senny's have better sound quality. Not a more accurate sound profile overall.

Rtings also test items separately and different times. In this case both Earbuds were tested at different times by different testers using different methodologies.

The review comparisons were all tested at the same time side by side, by the same reviewer using the same testing methodologies.

                • @GunnerMcDagget: How is quality different than accuracy my dude? Perfect accuracy equals perfect quality.

                  • @d3ft: You're right. I should have said "Sound better" not "better sound quality"

                    • @GunnerMcDagget: Interestingly, rtings also have the Buds Plus as much better sound quality than the Buds Pro, which is the opposite of what other testing sites are saying.

Maybe they got a really good pair of Buds Plus.

  • These? Or the Buds 2?

    • Buds 2 looks like sorrow eggs 😄

      • Sparrow*

  • How is the microphone on these? I have the original buds and found them not great. Keen to use these as a microphone for my phone for dictating.

  • OOS

  • Missed out! I have a pair already and they're great. Use them for Zoom calls all the time.

  • I got buds 2 and really like the fit. Have not tried them completely but so far they seem great.

  • Perhaps not important to some but the buds from this a seller are an import and won't register for warranty with Samsung Australia.
