Does that mean you have to use the code by 31 December or that the free membership is only until 31 December (~2.5 months)?

Interested to know who actually goes to these things; I helped run one, it was a huge pain in the arse. The ‘free membership’ just covers insurance - people still refused to join for free lol despite the fact they were supposed to. They used to charge and people refused to pay. On top of that people refused to pay the session fees, never contributed to the morning teas, expected us to look after their children while they sat on their phones…when covid-19 happened it was a bloody relief - there’s community halls full of playgroup nsws run down toys and equipment - and they are failing everywhere. It’s a real shame but early learning centres murdered them, and mummy bloggers running their own little for-profit programs finished them off.

Yeah I can understand it. We went to this one as a friend goes and it's only her and the organiser cause no one wants to pay. All the other playgroups in our area are free and they give free morning tea too. I don't mind paying $3 as there are less people. But I can understand that it would be nice to get some fruit for my little one for paying.
I think it is a thankless job and you've got to go it for the love of it. I ran a kids club for years. We use to feed all the kids dinner at the end. Even to get parent to pay the $2 was a nightmare. In the end I had to send letters out explain that it was to cover just the food costs. That made a huge difference. Plus it bridged the gap to get to know the parents a bit better too.
