I own and currently use both devices, Wacom Intuos and Huion HS611. They both work well as drawing tablets. However, there is a massive difference in software drivers. In WACOM intuos, once you install the driver it allows to use the drawing tablet for any compatible drawing software, and it also allows to use this device to navigate as a mouse. Huion HS611 does not allow you to do that freely, there are limits that you can and can't do such as scroll-panning feature.

I would pick Wacom Intuos over Huion HS611 if you have a bit more money to spend.

    • @huntingforbargainz What's your thought on size of Wacom . This looks good for marking up drawings of pdf files. Is a small size ok or would a medium work better. Definitely a price difference between the different WaCom Intuous.

I prefer the small size since it takes up less space on my desk.

      • You will get used to whatever size you have but it is definitely easier to write with a larger tablet. 6 X 10 inch feels the most natural to me. The smaller the tablet, the smaller you will have to write on it.

      • If you got a kid you can get it for free. Search on ozbargain and you will find it.

@RSmith: Sorry comment bit misleading. If you want to get the small size wacom you could potential get it for free via the "the $100 creative kids voucher" by following the deal here.

I bought one of these recently for about $90. I really like the size of it and the surface is buttery smooth to write on. The buttons along the top are pretty well useless though and the software is lacking.

Be warned that using the "switch pen" feature works to change between pen & eraser but with a pronounced delay and it often misses the first stroke after switching. This is particularly a problem with MS Office apps and pdfs. It's very frustrating if you're writing a lot (I'm a teacher). I also have an XP-pen Deco mini 7 and the xp pen software is better. The "pen/eraser" toggle works seamlessly on the xp pen.

I'm not an artist but I have tested it with the digital art program "Krita" and it works perfectly on that. Perhaps the software has been optimised for art programs over productivity ones.

    • thanks for the review.
what would you recommend for inputting handwritten notes and converting to text into onenote / other text based notetaking software?
do xp-pen and onenote work together?

  • I use my xp-pen with OneNote pretty much daily and it works great!
