  • oh wow this didn't sell as planned…

    • +4

At this price I'd have jumped on board.

      • Oh, I know that. But, the fact they are willing to drop it to this price…
Hisense also abandoned this tech. So, don't expect too much support. Barely any reviews…

        • +8

Don't buy Hisense TVs if you like firmware updates :)

          • @Shon: Beyond firmware. The entire tech is not being used by them or anyone else. So, something is seriously wrong and no reviews to claim the quality.

            • @samkenny: You lost me, what tech? Dual Cell?

              • @Shon: Yes, to the tech question. Not sure about his claim of its viability as a technology.

            • +2

@samkenny: They released another Dual Cell this year in the US. Apparently the 2020 one didn't get released elsewhere hence the lack of reviews.

        • Try searching ULED XD.

  • That’s cheap

  • +5

Be mindful that it weighs about 40 kg.

    • Is it including the woofer stand or just the tv

      • +1

        TV 38.5kg
Sub (doubles as the stand) 22.5kg

        • +1

Oof that's a heavy one, I don't want to wall mount and don't think tv units can hold 60 Kg

          • +1

@otter-raptor: My Ikea scratch-and-dent one won't, but a nice hardwood one probably will. :)

            • @eug: Yeah it would , though would cost as much as the tv - however will last for a generation :)

    • Just curious is 40kg too heavy for a 65? The x90j 75 is 45kg

      • +1

it more has to do with wall mounting.

      • Why are you comparing a 65 with a 75 lmao

        • +3

Just a genuine question mate. No need to argue

          • +1

@Bjay: Nah no argue just funny.

      • +2

It has an additional layer to do the funky dual cell action and probably more cooling for the additional power draw.

    • That's crazy, what makes this model so much heavier than other 65" TVs?

  • Not many places available for pickup

  • +1

They should throw in free delivery as well. 65 inch and 40kg.

  • +4

Holy crap this dropped fast, this a killer deal (I think?) seeing as it is a 3k AUD television at retail.

Looking through reviews now will update with my conclusion soon (im looking for a 65" tv atm).

    • +5

Cons: No hdmi 2.1 (cmon really?).
      - Built in smart tv is kinda trash, if it has the apps you want congrats, if it doesnt bad luck.
      - Plan to buy a smart device IE ps5/apple tv.

It looks like it has issues with its display pipeline…

this might be a pass from me.

  • Wonder if they will bring back oled

    • I thought the Hisense oled was pretty great for the price.

  • +1

    Seems a steal

  • Is this a step up from their 65Q8 series?

    • No

    • +4

      Yes

    • +1

      Maybe

    • +1

      Can you repeat the question

    • +1

You're not the boss of me now

    • +1

      Stop lookin' at me swan!

  • +1

One review said that on the side you could see the two layers of the two screens….almost like a ghost image.

    • +1

Also higher power usage due to two panels.

  • +4

This is apparently the issue everyone reports (artifacting) holy crap its terrible.

I think this might be a buy, check if you have a dud or non dud and return if its a dud.

  • +1

    Not available in Victoria :(

  • +9

Just got off the phone with them, there's only one in the whole country in Moore Park and it's a display model.

  • no WA

    • +2

      no WA

And that's what I would have said if that fat lard Clive won. I'm glad he didn't.

  • +3

It is 888. At this price it kills ! Thanks op, I think I am the last guy managed to get one in VIC

    • +1

Lucky if you did! I put my order in 22 mins ago and just got a call from JB who said it's out of stock everywhere.

      • Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen to me. Gosh!

      • Hi mate, What store did you get the call from ?

        • +1

          Kedron in QLD.

  • +3

From memory the power draw on these was pretty significant

    • Cause of the subwoofer or cause of the actual tv. Why would they throw in a free sub when people are just buying the tv. These guys have no sense of cost/margin control.

      • +3

It was the TV, the sub's power draw is comparitively small.
The TV is effectively 2 TV panels in 1 which led to this.

  • +2

Nice price but too many issues

  • +1

Thanks CCP, you've done it again.

  • +5

This was made to have the best of both worlds (peak brightness and black uniformity) and failed miserably.
When I used to work for this poor excuse of a company, I was playing around with the sample and let’s just say it’s nothing to write home about.
A good FALD panel from Samsung or Sony is much better than this abandoned technology.

  • Can't go wrong with this for this price.

  • That’s cheap

  • I bought one. Ill report back.

Now to buy a tv cabinet, and a couch.

    Anyone got a recomendation

    • It’s OOS mate.

      • -1

I got confirmation, so….. as far as im concerned I have one untill they call me.

        • +1

The confirmation email is automatically generated regardless of stock levels. Good luck in any event.

  • It's gone from website already

  • +5

Jb also have 75Q8 for $1495 which is also a bargain

  • I'm kicking myself. I bought this $500 more 6 months ago.

    • +1

How have you found it? (in case JB find some more stock)

      • +2

Good TV. Great image quality. The Ultra Smooth Motion must be turned off in settings or the judder / artefacts will show up. The OS is sluggish when navigating within apps. Otherwise it is great especially when watching Dolby Vision or 4k HDR10 content.

        • Doesn't sound a good TV…

          • -1

            @chris666: English good too sound…

          • +1

@chris666: It has one issue which owners don't like but it's because it has a setting turned on which imo shouldn't even be included as an option. But it's on by default. It can be easily turned off.

        • Does the subwoofer really weigh 20kg?

          • +1

@Plutonus: Yes. I would say so. It's heavy. Same with the TV which needs to be lifted and slotted in the sub's base.

    • Hisense products tend to drop quite significantly in price compared to other manufacturers.

  • Damn, hour too late.

  • +3

Wow, I paid like $3000 for this last year when it was almost impossible to get a TV. I’m Officially handing in my ozbargain licence.

  • Hisense chinese OS is garbage, would never buy another 1

    • +1

They are getting better lately. I have 65Q8 and it is 90% as good as my Sony 65x9500H. They both have stunning PQ… sony android interface and better motion handling gives it that edge

  • +1

Didn't think the order would get through but it seems to have. Support emailed me confirming stock for my order and asking for my preferred delivery date.

    • Lucky! What time did you order?

      • 6:09PM AEST.

        • +1

What. That's way after me, and I got a call cancelling my order. I guess the NSW distribution centre has stock. Congrats!

          • @eug: Unlucky :(

            Hope you snag another deal.

          • +1

@eug: Confirmed, also got stock in NSW.

          • @eug: Weren’t you told OOS nationwide?
They were probably referring to store stock.

            • +2

              @[Deactivated]:

              Weren’t you told OOS nationwide?

Yup. I asked if it can be shipped from anywhere in the country and the guy said nobody has one, there's only one in Moore Park and it's a display unit.

They were probably referring to store stock.

I would have thought he would have checked the distribution centre as well. Or maybe they won't deliver such a big item interstate.

  • Received confirmation email, and asking me for the delivery date now.

still hesitating guys, should I go for it? the other post of sony x9500 seems to be a great price too😱😱

    • I would go for it, worst comes to worst you can return it or flip it on the old Gummer tree

    • +4

still hesitating guys, should I go for it?

No, the X9500 is much better so you should get that. I can take care of your 65SX order for you. ;)
