IMO, $25 is not worth the credit check, will pass

I don't think I want that many credit checks. Had enough of them.

  • Same promo at The Good Guys

    • Thanks, added.

  • Can you spend $100 online to buy a JB Gift Card?

    • should work if they allow you to pay gift card using the xxPAY. works on apple pay/after pay combo.

  • ref "Hey, Citi customers!
Hang-tight, Spot. Buy Now, Pay Later is not ready for you yet.
It’ll be available to you shortly in the Citi Mobile App."
maybe it will be easier via the app and they will hopefully waive the credit check for existing citi customers? when is the deadline to sign up for those that preregistered for the $25?

  • Why does everyone seem to be afraid of credit check?

Because collecting QFF points is 1000x more important through CC swaps.

Credit checks are recorded against your credit history, which in turn may negatively impact your credit score and thus affect your ability to get a home loan:

Lenders generally check your credit history using information provided by credit reporting agencies. These companies gather data on individuals and use that information to calculate their credit score. This score is based on several factors, including the amount and types credit you have accessed previously, who you accessed it from, and how consistent you were at paying it back. Different credit score providers use different algorithms to calculate your score, so your score may vary depending on who has provided it.

BNPL mostly do soft and not hard checks.

It's the same as what a broker does, to look at who would be best for you to apply with for a loan based on your credit situation.

      • Is a BNPL credit check considered worse than one for a credit card or personal loan?

  • Do you need to have a Citibank Account to be eligible for this offer?

    • No you can have another bank / account to link into repayments etc I actually think their retail consumer banking is closing soon. This operation is being run by Diners.

  • I have citibank so what's on offer?

    • +1

i think its open to anyone now to apply but citibank customers may get an offer on their app soon.

  • I'm a current citi credit card and bank customer. Am I eligible for this promotion? Sign up page says something I have to wait, which indicates I'm not available. "Hey, Citi customers! Hang-tight, Spot. Buy Now, Pay Later is not ready for you yet. It’ll be available to you shortly in the Citi Mobile App."

  • Hi guys . Has anyone received their jbhifi gift card from SPOT? Following purchase, after how many days did you receive it? Cheers.

  • Everyone pooping panties about credit checks; fair enough it's an ozbargain crowd not a bankers consortium and I get the soft check doesn't sit well with people and yeah maybe afterpay and afterpaypal don't but in the end they're just protecting their vested interests to build and keep a customer base that's needy and show financial responsibility.

There is such a thing as respectable lower class of citizens in this society that go pay cheque to pay cheque and have ad-hoc needs on special occasions like a festivity, festive season or an unexpected emergency costs.

I fully agree it shouldn't be a lifestyle for paying bills, buying groceries, let alone entertainment etc but please don't tell me there aren't plenty of people that still do that on their current credit/finance arrangements.

  • has anyone received the $25 gift e card twice by buying a $100 gift card both at tgg and jbhi instore by doing a tap and pay?
