Free Telstra 4G USB Prepaid Dongle - By eDM Invitation Only

412

If you are a current pre-paid data plan user (e.g. you use a Mobile Elite Wi-Fi dongle) you can get a free 4G USB Pre-paid dongle from Telstra.

You need your mobile number for the form.

https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/experience4g/index.…

It is only the USB device, there is no Wi-Fi dongle just yet, so if you connect via Wi-Fi you'd need to swap the sim back to your mobile elite etc. but if you are carry a laptop around and have a free USB device - perfect for 4G browsing on the go :)

  • Might not be eligible for everyone who signs up.

Every Eligible Participant who receives an eDM from the Promoter with details of the Offer and during the period specified on their eDM:

    • +1

      The fine print also mentions

Limit 1 per customer, invitation is not transferable.

    • OP, maybe change title to reflect that this is an invite only offer.

  • -3

Only valid by invitation. I assume based on spend.

    • +1

OK, good luck if it works. But they say your number must match the one the sent an invite to. Just trying to save people wasting their time.

Every Eligible Participant who receives an eDM from the Promoter with details of the Offer and during the period specified on their eDM:

    visits the website located at www.telstra.com/experience4g;
    correctly and fully completes the online entry form including full name, address, email address and contact number;
enters their pre paid mobile broadband service number; and
    submits their entry,

Won't work if you didn't receive an email.

  • Ordered thanks iceborg :)

  • Quite a few large corps/govt are being offered free 4g modems too.
I'm surprised that they're offering it to pre-paid customers.

Maybe their 3g network will become less congested soon.

  • What does the email say?

  • +2

Hey its free, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Doesn't hurt to put your name down and see what happens

  • works for me, thanks op

    • +1

so did you get an email to confirm you will receive the free dongle or sth like that?

  • I also submitted my details. Fingers crossed it'll happen.

  • The longer this stays up on OzBargain, the less likely anyone who isn't already eligible for the offer will get anything — there's very little chance of Telstra honouring this for ineligible customers if they get inundated with 1000s of submissions from random OzBargainers. :)

I agree, deals like this shouldn't be shared on ozbargain if you want to get it.

Ok maybe my hopes are dampered. Read this:

Why was I selected for this 4G offer?

You were selected to say thanks for being a loyal Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband customer. We also appreciate that you choose to top-up your device through one of our low-cost recharge options.

    Are there any strings attached?

As you’re with Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband there are no contractual restrictions on you. Your new 4G USB device will be under your name (should you choose to pass it on) and it is locked to the Telstra network.

When can I expect to receive my new 4G USB device?

You should receive this within 3 weeks of submitting your request. If you haven’t received any communications or your device within 3 weeks, just email us at [email protected] and we’ll provide you with an update.

What if I am happy with my existing modem?

You’re under no obligation to take up this offer so you can just ignore it if you wish.

What should I do with my existing Mobile Broadband modem?

You’re welcome to pass on your existing USB device to a friend or family member, although they’ll need to pick up a SIM card for it – they can do this online (attach link) or by visiting their nearest Telstra shop or dealer.

Can I forward this offer on to someone else?

No, this offer is for you only. We provided you with a promo code specific to you and your Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband service.

How do I know this isn’t a phishing scam?

If you’re concerned whether this is a genuine offer or not, just email us at [email protected] and we’ll confirm back to you that you are included for this offer.

  • Hmm, wonder if they plan to do the same to contracted customers?

    • +1

hahaha you're kidding right? Those of us on postpaid Telstra contracts are just the dirt on the bottom of their shoes.

  • Hmm… time to make a token recharge and see if I get sent this e-mail. Or do you think it was a one-off crawl of their user list and I've already missed the chance?

  • ordered one

  • Thanks OP form submitted, only takes a few seconds I'll give the dice a roll.

  • This will go great with my new iPad 4G

    • -1

Exactly, since your new iPad 4G cannot support Telstra 4G network, you will need to carry a netbook or a laptop which can support the 4G USB dongle. Maybe an android tablet with USB host mode might be able support the USB dongle (so you can then enable the wifi tethering on the android tablet).

      I am only joking….

    • -8

      LOL.. owned.. self ownage.. Pwned…

Ipad 4G doesnt support that network because it runs a different frequency

      • LOL he was being sarcastic and you didn't realise… Owned.

  • i only came in here because it said free

  • Hi,
Sorry for the really dumb question.

I'm on holiday with my Elite modem.

When it says "You need your mobile number for the form" does it mean the phone number associated with the SIMM?

    I found a number at: https://m.telstra.com/wbb/accountDetails.mml?a=view
    is that it?

    Thanks!
(obviously I didn't get the letter as it would have the number they refer to on it :+) )

    • +1

Yes that is your number- Holdenmg

      • +1

thanks for your help! Hope I get a 4G, only had the Elite for a week. :+)

  • Could someone plz confirm is this one per house hold coz I have 5 numbers and just sent the form in 5 times, and no I'm not giving away my telstra broadband number :p

    • hi devok, if you would like to confirm if your submissions went through, please reply with the list of numbers that you used in the form and i will check them for you.

      cheers,

      Trollstra

  • For those having problems with the number easiest way is to take out the sim and call somebody to find out your number Or just log into your account balance and your Telstar broadband number is located there, that's what on my iPad in the recharge area.

  • +2

You have to be very stupid to fill out the form. It says it a billion times that you are NOT eligible. They are not going to send out hundreds of modems to ineligible people.

  • +1

    only 500 available anyway…do the maths 64500/129

  • i think it is worth a shot. got to be in to WIN!

  • +2

Just don't come in store demanding free 4G devices because your brothers friends uncle said he got one.

  • Did anyone get this ?

  • nope
