  • Good price..but where how do we claim the rebate? You won't know my shoppingsquare account

    • If your eBay account e-mail address same as the e-mail address you registered in ShoppingSquare.com.au. It will be auto linked.
If you doesn't has a ShoppingSquare.com.au account with the same e-mail address as your eBay account yet.
      - You can register one now, or
      - an invitation will be sent to you with instruction after you purchased via eBay.

      • Bought one and have not signed up my email with SS. So I will expect an invitation from SS with a $10 voucher? When can I expect the invitation email?

        • The invitation email will be sent once your order is dispatched

        • My order is now dispatched, but I still have not received the email.

        • waiting for the invitation email too…

        • I never received an invitation email either…..

        • I received my order weeks ago, but have yet to receive the invitation email? I ordered on 15/03.

Anyone else have not received their's too?

and yet most items @SS are expensive than eBay…enough said

  • +9

It's not a rebate either, it's a store coupon. Rebates are partial refunds.

    • -8

Even "Rebate" can be in form of Store Gift Card or store voucher
      in marketing terms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebate_%28marketing%29

, the Word "Rebate" are removed from title and description now.

      • +2

You're ignoring the rest of the article. The header paragraph references only prepaid cards, which could encompass prepaid credit cards, mall cards (e.g., Westfields cards which can be spent at almost all stores within that mall), and store-specific cards.

In 'Recent Trends', there is a mention of prepaid gift cards, along with the line that some states require this to be redeemable for cash if the balance falls below a certain level. In Australia, the practice of giving prepaid gift cards/store credit as a form of rebate is nigh on unheard of (so no legislation regarding this), but at the end of the day, you cannot argue with the fact that even the article you have linked for states "A rebate is an amount paid by way of reduction, return, or refund on what has already been paid or contributed.".

Store credit is not equal to the value of cash, as has been alluded to earlier by another commenter regarding the prices/shipping cost from ShoppingSquare, which is why there is such legislation in many states of America. $50 in cash is worth more than $50 in HN credit because HN is vastly overpriced, and to get equivalent value I would need somewhere nearer to $75-$100 in HN credit.

Finally, now your heading is even more misleading - the voucher can't be applied to the current order!

          kwchaz
          Thanks for your opinion,
          is the title better now?

        • +3

The title is more accurate now, yes.
I could quibble about grammar and redundancy, but that's a non-issue really.

    • +7

Agreed, quite misleading with the "$19.95 after $10 voucher".

      • Agreed with you since it is not a cash back - the credit has to be spent on other items. So it should be $29.95 + some other gadget up to $10 for free ;-)
On the other hand the price for the JoyFlash card is attractive enough that I am happy to pay $9.99 for it, even it I don't find any use for the $10 store credit.
And as such the deal as a whole still deserves a '+' not a '-'.

  • +5

It's not strictly a rebate off this purchase. It's a rebate off a future purchase. So this purchase still costs $29.95 (not $19.95) - and $10 is available as a discount off a future purchase.

should just change the description to

  • got one. waiting fot invitation email then ;)

  • SS have 8gb Sandisk Cruzer Blade USB drives for $7.95 + $1 shipping. Would have been a good option to spend your $10 bonus on, shame the voucher is only valid from the 1st April.

Got my 32gb MicroSD card anyway, great price, great brand, good speed.

We'll all go to use our vouchers on the 1st of April, and a message will pop up; "April Fools Sucker!". :P

Never heard of joy flash so did a bit of research and seems good enough, although the comments in this post suggest not using an adaptor for digital SLR http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1836821

  • any chance on sandisk 16gb SD class 10?

  • ref JoyFlash 16GB Class10 SDHC Card @ $9.99 or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370584735123 i wonder will it really work on a dslr camera recording full HD video? the post says its class 10 and full HD but i not too sure it is? i have brought class 10 mirco sd cards in the past from another retailer but it didn't record full HD video well on a dslr camera .

    • I too had been warned here on OzBargain not to use micro SD cards in an adapter for high performance stuff. Bunkum! I just tried my Lexar Class 10 micro SDHC with an adapter in an EOS 550D. It recorded full HD video flawlessly. I cranked up the bitrate to 1.3x normal with MagicLantern and it still worked without missing a beat.

I'd say it always comes down to the brand/model and probably also to how full and fragmented the card memory is whether it achieves the speed you need.

As to the JoyFlash full sized SD: I'll only know when I get it, but the benchmark results in the whirlpool link given by leemako look promising, better than what I got from the Lexar (micro SDHC).

My bet is that the speed will be fine, but a higher number of the JoyFlash users will have to deal with data loss at some point in time compared to buyers of the big brand names. For me as a hobbyist that is a risk I am willing to take.

      • thanks team teri for the reply. im in the same boat. just brought the JoyFlash 16GB Class10 SDHC Card now for AU $9.95 to try on the 550D. i hope it works and i receive the $10 voucher too then i'll be 5 cents ahead lol.

what about an 8gb sandisk micro sd?

  • Received my 32gb MicroSD card today. Trasnferring my phone files over now, from my 16gb Kingston.

The plastic card holder case was just chucked into an envelope, no padding.

The SD card adapter that came with it doesn't seem right. The little Lock switch on the side is not stiff enough, i plugged it into my laptop's card slot and Windows said the card was locked, i think it slid to "Lock" when i pushed it into the slot.

It doesn't say "MicroSD to SD Adapter" on it, as per the image in the eBay auction, it just says "Adapter".

Concerned whether it's genuine or not..
