Good price. Check your games library ;)
I got this on a free Epic deal

    • +1

Here's the link to that for anyone wondering if they have it.

If I have the base game is it worth buying this for the Anthology and Platinum Edition's?

      • +1

It's pretty much the only game I play (now that I have finished Cyberpunk 2077). But I honestly think the Anthology version was worth it (the upgrade was on sale on Epic a few weeks a go), the extra civilisations and upgrades to gameplay make it even more fun, albeit a little more difficult

        • Damn missed out on epic games sale! Will cost me $33 to upgrade since I have both expansions l, being a tightarse I wouldn't pay that, howuch did you pay?

  • +3

Sinking another 30% of my day in to this again at the moment. Great price.

    • I am not getting it as that will happen to me too :). I got Civ 5 that is from what I read a lot worse and I spent too much time in it.

      • +3

Clocked over 1000hrs on civ 5 and still going.
I just couldn't get into 6, never liked the cartoony look.

        • +2

because civ 6 is ported to console as well, the cartoony is to appeal younger kids to play.
civ 3 was still the best ever.

        • +1

Rookie numbers. I've clocked over 10k hours on Civ 4

        • +3

          On PC?

I can't remember when I last played it without this installed

I don't like the cartoony look myself either though appreciate they put effort into trying something different

      • +3

Civ 5 is more addictive. Civ 6 is overly complex IMO.

    • +1

Sinking? Gotta build some Dams then

  • +4

+1 for the lover of CIV5 and a neg on CIV6 here too.

    • +1

Civ 5 is astonishingly good. I wondered why they bothered trying to improve on it as it seemed impossible, and others seem to agree.

      • +1

it was the civ 5 DLC's that made it from good to awesome, don't know about 6.

imo civ 5 complete edition for ~$12 on g2a is a no brainer

  • +1

This is one of the greatest games ever made.

    • -3

      civ 3 was the best.
civ 4 cursed with the doom stack.
      civ 5 was 2nd best.
civ 6 is for kids on consoles.

thank you for gatekeeping my enjoyment!

      • +1

Civ 5 Brave new world is the best of the lot..

  • +3

I’ve tried 6 and 5, and much prefer 6. Makes no sense to me that the builders have unlimited charges in 5.

    • +4

That confused the hell out of me when I first played 6. I was like, I swear I built a builder. Ah fun times.

I do think there are bits that make sense, and there are bits that are weird in Civ 6. I do feel like workers making road made sense in Civ 5, but I do feel like limited charge make improvements more strategic and game more fun.

  • +1

I really disliked Civ 6 on release. do you think there's any chance the expansions could save it for me? I loved pretty much every other civ game but 6 just didn't do it for me.

    • Yes, the expansions add a LOT of depth

    • +2

      Absolutely

Gathering Storm adds climate change and various other natural disasters which can both damage or improve the areas they occur.

Rise & Fall introduces Governors that you promote through the game that buff the cities you station them in various ways depending on how you intend on playing.

The New Frontier Pass comes with various extra civs / leaders to play as with varying strengths and weaknesses.

it also added various modes such corporations and monopolies putting more of a emphasis on trading and luxuries, improved bandit mode (Different tribes have different unit types, you can hire them to harrass other players and if they are left alone to flourish they can evolve into city states)

Heroes and Legends grant you the abiltiy to summon Hercules, Maui, Sinbad, Mulan, Monkey and others who all have different special powers to suit playstyles/win conditions.

Secret societies adds some fun extra stuff in the mix too. Vampires being the odd one.

Theres a tech shuffle mode so the research/culture trees are completely scrambled.

There are so many ways to break the game and become OP or get completely obliterated by AI if you take on Diety. You can use multiple modes at the same time to increase the chaos.

TLDR: The DLC adds so much that the base game feels like a demo.

    • The expansions took the game from mediocre to excellent IMO

    Insufficient amenities!

So if you sink 1000 hours into this it works out at $0.01349 per hour.
