Been looking to when the efm 22mm canon lens would drop and according to camel3 this is its lowest price, which is a pretty good deal as it usually sells for around 200-250. The last sale was for $168 here so 3$ cheaper.

Anyone who has this lens, I would be interested to hear your thoughts!

Nice little lens. Perfect for low-light shots and isolating subject from background. If you have an M-series camera, this is simply a must-have. Love this lens on the original EOS M. The chromatic aberration is the only real annoyance to me. Hardly worth a complaint at the price.

This review is correct on all points.

    • Would you rate this over the canon ef 50mm f1.8 lens with the canon adapter? Though I do think these two are for slightly different use cases…

      • I don't think there's any general comparison between those two. The 50mm is 80mm equivilent on any EF-M camera, a telescope compared to the 22mm.
I own and really like both options, as a big EF-M format fanboy. The 22mm is the best lens in the EF-M lineup imo.
Shameless self promotion, I took these with a EOS-M and 22mm. Hope there's more life in this series.

        • Which do you think is the best first lens to go with the m50 mkii kit lens 15-45mm 3.5-6.3? Regardless of which I choose I will pick up a viltrox (non-speedboosting) adapter because I have already got the canon ef 90-300mm f4.5-5.6 telephoto lens and a canon ef 100mm f2.8 macro lens (well they're my dad's but he'll be fine with me using them lol). Which one do you think compliments these lenses in terms of its flexibility and complimenting the rest of the lenses to capture a broader range of shots? The ef-m 22mm f2.0 (35mm effective focal length) or the ef 50mm f1.8 (80mm effective focal length)? I'm finding it SO HARD to decide haha. I love lots of bokeh, low-light shots and street/nature/landscape/beach photography and videography.

Yes they are. Get both if you have the need. I have the adapter as well. For portraits the 50mm might be the better tool for the job. On the M, without any adaptors, the 22mm is a fantastic compact setup suited to many tasks.
