  • I heard wash and wax all in 1 liquids aren't as good as doing it separately.
But the convenience of it tempts me

Yeah that's true, but for the vast majority of people who are time poor, and if this makes the difference between washing the car and not bothering for years on end, then this is a great solution.

For me personally, I still separately wax the car every 6-12 months. This is a good product to mildly top up wax between separate wax applications.

Spot on for a good time poor solution. I would like to add not all wash and wax are created equal and each require a different technique to get the best results.

I have used Bowen's and although cheaper, it is very lumpy out of the bottle and harder to pour into the container spray. It seems to be thicker with more wax and than Meguirs but less gloss. I find Meguirs is very easy to apply and forgiving for beginners whereas some of the more technical and boutique products will require more attention when applying to panels and once you use it you might never go back to a self service car wash again.

The other product I would recommend is Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer when on special for a touch up between washes.

Can recommend this Wash & Wax.

Been using it for 5+ years on various cars with outstanding result and have always bought them on sale for around $20-22.
For reference, my car sits outside 24/7 and I wash it once every 2-3 weeks.

I've recently bought the Chemical Guys Extreme Wash & Wax, so will be using this for the foreseeable future.

I also rate the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound.

I bought it for $25 a few months ago for a restoration project (20 year old motorbike).

The dull, weathered and faded paint (black) came up amazing. Exceeded my expectations.

I was blown away by the results when I first used it.

Again, there are probably better products out there, but they will no doubt be more expensive and take more care/effort to apply.

This Ultimate Compound is super easy to apply and for the large majority of non-fussy car owners will produce fantastic results that they'd be happy with.

        • did you guys clay it first or just go for it with the ultimate compound? Have an old black car parked outside…
Whilst i do have the whole clay set, polish and random orbital with pads etc…im feeling a bit …meh…because it is parked outside always. Happy to do a lazy quick job

          • @Nav2k: Compounding is never a lazy job, will take a full day. Clay first, it takes about 10-15 mins if you use a clay mitt rather than a tiny clay bar.

If it looks good after the clay, I reckon leave it at that.
