SQ & (semi) reasonable postage??? is it April 1 already?

    • yea I just realized the steep postage… ouch

  • +1

I "note" that the Note at DWI http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProd… is now $556 with no extra postage charge. Bit higher than last time I looked at DWI - it was $545.

Please don't neg this comment just 'cos you don't like DWI - it's just here for factual info and comparison - not a DWI recommendation.

Great phone (disclaimer: I own one) but I couldn't help having a little giggle at

"Full screen utilization for fast and effective tasking"

What does this even mean? There are phones where the whole screen isn't used?

    waiting for vodafone release…

    • +3

Optus just released their SGNote plans starting at $5 on $59/month, which is ridiculously expensive. Vodafone would be better, but I don't think it would be that much better. Cheaper to buy those grey imports and use LiveConnected.

      • +2

Agreed, much rather have it cheaper with a choice of month to month plans. 2 year contracts suck

      • +1

cant agree more. plan for live connected is only 11$ pm which is around 260ish for the plan. Still better than playing 1000 in total from any carrier. Plus you dont have to be stuck on a contract for 2 years.

Dont they realise this phones been out for 7 months or so? lol

  • Are these Telstra 4G compatible? I'm waiting to see if Samsung release a "Telstra 4G" version.

    • No the 4g version of the GNote only comes with US 4G bands, like "the new iPad", so it will never work here. And the 4G version uses a different (and crap) cpu.

      • Off topic but new iPad, it will work here as the specs for its 3G capability are same!

Getting better, I quite like the size & once these suckers are sub-$500 (shipped or B&M store) locally I'm taking the plunge! :)

    • +3

like-mind ,but it might be a few months to go, not sure if I could hold that long :(

      • At the rate they're dropping I'd be thinking about a month or so I reckon! ;)

  • not bad, but I am waiting for the tablet version of this, that pen(well one a little better 256v128 levels of sensitivity) 10.1 inch screen = digital sketchbook = awesome, if they hadn't announced that I'd get this

    • s-pen doesnt work with draw something

      • +1

it does - just not as good as in smemo.. WAYYY BETTER then a finger

        • should have been called the Pen-S lol

  • Anyone know if I can pick up?

  • +1

I paid $150 more at launch, at this price it's a steal! Yet to see a phone come close to comparing.

  • I love my Note. Just wish it was bigger. Seriously.

    • wouldn't fit in pocket if it was bigger i reckon.

can't wear skinny jeans with these

  • Noob question - is it straightforward updating the software to Ice Cream Sandwich when available? Do you lose settings, data, etc when you do?

      google it

Brilliant, thanks a bunch. No reply would have just as helpful.

Simple answer: Yes to the first & No to the second.

    best phone in the world

    • Is it better than the Galaxy S2 ?

      • apparently there is no champion in every aspect of a smartphone so really comes down to what matters to you most. IMO you won't find it inferior to S2 in general

      • I'll tell you why I got a note instead of an S2:
Better processor (Dual 1.2 GHz vs. Dual 1.4 GHz)
        Much much better screen (S2-800x480 vs. Note-1280 x 800) (2.67 time better)
Battery is much larger (1650mAh vs. 2500mAh) (51.5% bigger)
        Its bigger (4.3" vs. 5.3")
The Note comes with 16GB of space but a has a slot for a 32GB micro SD where as the S2 come in the 16GB as well the more expensive 32GB but has no micro SD slot)

        It wins on all fronts

        • You mistook the last aspect. Its the Nexus not the S2.

        • +1

Battery larger but the screen and processor also higher which will consume alot of power I assume.

  • Looks like this expired. It's now $578.95 + postage at http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_277477_Samsung_Galaxy_Not…

    • It was expired but it is back again today at $529.95 + postage.

  • Any difficulty fitting it into your pants without awkwardness?

    • Yes its awkward, but the phone fits easy.

      • -2

Please explain, how can it fit easy if it's awkward too…

  • It's cheap! I just back from HK and there is HKD $55XX.
