Looks like similar to this: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/talon-2

    • This is good bike. I bought this one for $469. It's really smooth and sturdy. But brakes aren't very responsive. May be because these are mechanical disc brakes. But they are low maintenance brakes. Brake pad replacement will be cheap.

  • Thanks, OP. Managed one of the two large bikes at my local store.

    • what suburb, state?

        Stanhope Gardens, NSW

    • What are your thoughts on the bike? Decent for the price?

  • No bike's delivered at my local in VIC

  • No bikes in QLD Sunshine Coast. QLD was on the delayed stock list and now the delay list has vanished for 6 Nov. The stock checker says no info available. Looks like either not coming at all, or its a guessing game for QLD….

    • same for victoria as well.

    • Looks Aldi expects everyone to visit Everyday in morning to check its availability.

      • That's pretty much what they told me instore (VIC) on Saturday when I asked - they don't know when the stock is due to arrive and suggested regularly looking at the stock checker page.

    • The only items delivered to my local-ish stores (5, SE QLD) were the kids bikes and a lock. Nothing else.

Yeah the cult of Aldi on Ozbargain, 81 upvotes and no negs. Imagine the uproar if Colesworth constantly pulled these stunts.

        • I agree, thats a fair comment. what a waste of time to advertise something they dont have in stock.

  • I picked up 2 for my kids. Stocks in VIC

  • Got one 29er Medium. It was in back, so had to ask them if I can purchase now. After discussing there manager they agreed. Most likely they will be on shelfs tomorrow morning.

  • Cheltenham VIC had loads of the kids bikes in stock when I grabbed one around 6pm tonight - wasn’t looking as closely but seemed a reasonable number of adult ones too

  • Do you recommend the kids bikes for light use or they are going to be a pain?

Has anybody confirmed the parts on the premium bikes after purchasing?

  • had a look at two Maroochydore Aldis today - only saw left over kids stock. Still no sign of adult bikes in this part of QLD

  • The special buys product delays page on the Aldi website has been updated. Picked up a medium adult bike at my local store, with a few left over.

Purchased a large adults. The bearing in the pedals failed first ride. Crank arm came loose, Bottom bracket started squeaking. Rear derailleur got caught in back rim while on a trail and ripped off damaging frame rim and derailier. Got a refund. Don't recommend.

    • That sounds really bad. I just assembled will see if anything like this happens on mine.

Purchased a large adult as well. Had it professionally assembled to save myself the headaches. He mentioned to me the rear derailleur was bent out of the box but as it was a standard shimano part they replaced it as a courtesy for me (I wouldn’t have been so generous if I’d done it myself id probably would have taken it back to Aldi at that point).

Gave it a ride this afternoon and was actually quite impressed (mind you my hardcore mountain biking days are 25 years behind me). Bit of off road and some on road today and I had no problems, does exactly what I wanted for the price it lets me keep up with the kids with some light off road and trail rides. Only did 10km this evening so hardly a long term review.

At least if it doesn’t work out in the first 12 months aldi will refund no questions asked. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I’m happy with the price I paid…..think it was worth paying for assembly I might have rushed it or cut corners and caused myself headaches in the future.

      • I assembled it myself. I don't what it could be but when i ride it while not sitting i hear a weird sound from the rear of bike. It's fine when i am riding sitting. Might need to get it checked.

        • I had a very similar sound coming from the rear of my bike (medium size, adult), and discovered that I had neglected to remove a piece of protective plastic that was attached to the rear wheel/hub, which must have been touching the chain or crank assembly when pedling while standing up.

  • Still saw some mountain bikes at Aldi castle hill

  • stil no stock in QLD. guy in store said border block may be causing it (yeah sure, thats why they have had the kids bikes in stock for two weeks- excuse !)

  • stock of large in QLD today. Saw 5 in shop but nobody buying

  • Bikes arrived to QLD picked up last two

  • plenty of med and large in Aldi Maroochdore QLD Sunshine Coast if anybody looking

  • Hi, I know the components aren't as good as the 2020 model but still good for a beginner bike. Anyone seen any stock of the medium anywhere in Sydney? After one for my son for Xmas.
