      • Yeah, the site's accuracy will always have a delay, so it can never compare to official government websites. Keep in mind the Australian regulations post-November 1 were only updated "officially" today (27 October 2021), so it will be interesting to see how long joinsherpa.com's summary takes to update since it's not a simple web-scrape (note that state and federal government statements in the media only count as hearsay and are amenable to change, as we've seen throughout COVID). I also don't know if relying on the summary is complete enough for every case scenario (for example, there's a field for passport but not for random attributes like being a permanent resident, or immediate family, which may give a false kneejerk understanding).

Personally, I wouldn't use the site for the summary but for the official COVID-related government links (Smarttraveller.gov.au is more a "what applies to you right now" type of website) e.g..
        For leaving Australia: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/leaving-australia
        For entering Japan: https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html

  • Hawaii hotels are asking for COVID testing every 2 days, I am pretty certain the cost of this would be on the customer. Hopefully this changes by next year but who knows.

    • And it seems you're still required to self isolate for 10 days..

We continue to welcome other travelers to the Hawaiian Islands with a pre-travel test.
Travelers wishing to use the pre-travel test to bypass quarantine must have a negative result from a test taken from a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner no more than 72 hours BEFORE beginning the final leg of their trip. Anyone without a negative test result or U.S. vaccination PRIOR to departure must quarantine upon arrival.

Basically a gamble booking any of these flights when you have no idea what the status of international travel will be like in the future and what additional costs may be involved.

    • Seems less of a gamble if you purchase farecredit.

These are great deals, but planning international travel at this point is a bit like playing Russian Roulette.
The uncertainty of travel restrictions in three, six or twelve months is just a killer.

  • Anyone can tell me what we need to travel oversea next year?If Im going to Japan do I still need quarantine if it does how long it will be?Also if coming back to Sydney do we need quarantine?Ta

Nobody knows. You just have to take the risks.
Japan is still not open for tourists. They might change it in 6 month time

      • Ok,most important part answered

I have to remind people there is a National election in a couple of days, so any weaking before this might go down like a lead balloon.

I'm kind of expecting a few weeks after the election Japan will change to vaccination and covid test before flight situation (Possibly starting out with a few select countries like Australia).

I see the current 10 day arrangement as a tippy toeing out of their previous even tougher restrictions and since the cases have plummeted to only 153 yesterday, there will be pressure from the domestic tourism sector to start reopening.

          • @Pcoder: And news comes in that a set number business travellers will be able to only do 3 days from Monday. I'm expecting more and more softening as time goes on.

Cheaper to book the Perth to Bali flights direct with Jetstar.
I booked for four people return for $491 :)
Also, you can change the dates of the flights for free up to 2023. So no biggy if there is some reason you can't do original dates.

    • +2

Yes you can change the flights for free but you are not going to get those cheap flights again. Your trip will end up costing 3 or 4 times the amount when you have to pay the going rate of the day ( not on special)

      • +1

Good point! So booking them now saves nothing if the dates are cancelled or postponed.

I’ve booked 2 x Sydney to Tokyo return for the second half of May next year. Hopefully things will be in a sort of sweet spot by then but if not, I paid extra for cancellable flights. Even though it’s in the form of credit, we fly enough domestically to take the risk!

  • Prices have gone up

  • found the opposite that the price decreased for one of the flights we booked on the sale. jetstar unwilling to help with any refund of the price difference
