    isnt 20w like slow?

    • +2

more like how to start a fire?

Might wanna add that it's a special order item. They don't have them in store, so you will have to wait for like 1 to 2 weeks to get it.

      • If you want it now sure. But Bunnings is way better than ebay to deal with. The ebay one doesn't have usb c though if you need that.

        • Fair enough, just saw that store have a 36w with type C for $12, although not a bad price but local Bunnings would always be easier for me instead waiting.

        • Type C with PD means you can fast charge iPhones. Also website says 2 year warranty.

  • +1

    20W both simultaneously?

    • +3

Charge 2x devices at once or take advantage of fast charging when you only use 1x USB-A port and receive 12 Watts (2.4A) of power.

      Quote/Unquote

    • +1

Probably not. Specs from here state Total Output: 20W

The 2 baseus car chargers I bought a few months ago died within a few weeks so happy to grab one from bunnings at least would be easy to refund.

kmart is 1 yr warranty vs cygnett 2yr.
kmart is 18w vs cygnett 20w.
otherwise it's more/less the same spec-wise, but cygnett is also a reputable brand for phone accessories

Anyone know if this would kill your car battery? My car battery spec is 12V and 70Ah. So im guessing my car battery output is 840W ?

    • +4

This will absolutely not kill your car battery

    • +3

Your car has an alternator that charges the battery when driving. Most cig socket's don't have power when the car is off. So unless you want to leave the car keys in the ignition, there will rarely be a time when the car is not running and you will be charging your phone.

But to answer your question, you can easily charge a phone battery off a car battery. Roughly 840whr compared to 20whr ( I think)

    • +1

Awesome! Thanks guys, gonna order one too :)

12V and 70Ah. So im guessing my car battery output is 840W

      No.
Your car battery is 840Wh (watt hours) so it can deliver 840 watts for one hour, or it could deliver 420 watts for 2 hours etc.

This charger has maximum current draw of 2.1 amps.
That means on a 70Ah battery the charger can draw the maximum current for 33 hours before the battery goes flat. However the charger will not draw 2.1A constantly so your car battery would last at least 33 hours of charging using this charger.

Plus your car battery gets charged by the alternator as your are driving so it won't go flat.

      • A 70Ah battery doesn't necessarily mean it can deliver constant 70A over an hour. Current rating A (esp constant) can't be inferred from capacity Ah. 840Wh is capacity. Also most lead acid batteries can only deliver around 50% of their quoted capacity.

        • +3

A 70Ah battery doesn't necessarily mean it can deliver constant 70A over an hour.

Yes because heat and other external factors will impact things so in the real world you may only get 55 minutes.
However 70Ah is 70A over an hour, that's what it means.

Current rating A (esp constant) can't be inferred from capacity Ah. 840Wh is capacity

          Yes it can because W = V x A
You can use this calculator if your want
          https://learnmetrics.com/watt-hours-to-amp-hours/

Also most lead acid batteries can only deliver around 50% of their quoted capacity.

          That's incorrect.
It is not advisable to use more than 30-50% of the stated capacity for a deep cycle lead acid battery (because it reduces the lifespan of the battery) however that does not mean that the battery will not provide the capacity.

I hate when people get negged for asking questions. Have up voted you to restore balance to the universe. As others have said, better to keep the engine running and then no issues. I actually have a 60w PD USB C car charger for my laptop, only needed it a few times on long trips but no issues yet!

      • As others have said, better to keep the engine running and then no issues

It's not better to keep the car engine running, it isn't necessary.
The energy required to charge a phone is low and will not flatten your car battery at all.

Just received a refund for my order this morning.
I actually do need one, any alternative someone can recommend?

  • +1

Just got my refund too. My local Bunnings just called and apparently it was meant to be $29.99 and limited stock, but the deal got OzBargain'd with 7000ish orders. LOL.

  • +1

Refund here also im sure they could have honoured the deal, but yet a year or so ago they let customers have a drone big price error and gave many others very generous gift cards unfortunately i never tried my luck on that.
But 7000 orders on these did they say that? i don't believe.
What a waste of time and takes over 2 weeks to say price error lol

  • +1

    Got refund also :(

  • +3

No contact from Bunnings yet. No refund issued either. Still waiting !!!

    • +1

Also have not heard anything yet, fingers crossed they honour the discount.

Just rang my local and they informed me that it's on back order and waiting on supply. No time frame yet.

        • +1

Ah thanks for letting me know. I just got this email

“We are contacting you to provide an update regarding your online order.

The supplier has advised that the Cygnett Car Accessory ordered is currently out of stock with no confirmed restock date.
Unfortunately, your order has been cancelled and refunded.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

  • Just checked my order status, it is on processing and packing, hopefully will be able to pick up soon.

Just got my refund today as well.

  • Update, just got a notification for pick up, had to book a drive and collect though.

Got my refund by way of gift voucher as I used the Coles prepaid Mastercard that is non-reloadable. Staff were helpful on the phone and in-store.
