  • any deals on the desktop versions?

    • wait for the Mac Mini on M1 Pro / Max
initial rumours were to be released together in the same October event
looks like it will be postpone till Spring 2022

  • Thanks for posting. Ordered with 5% off :)

  • Wow. I just received my base model 14" from preorder for $2769. Going to go into officeworks to pick this up and return the other and make $200 :)

  • No stock in the officeworks near me. How does price beat work on the phone? Will they take my credit card and place an order for me or they will give me a discount code for ordering online? Thanks.

    • I'm wondering about this too! Phone line opens at 8am but my local store opens at 7am. I'll be calling them/heading in early to HOPEFULLY place an order

    • +1

Usually they take your credit card details and charge you straight away with your nominated option of either delivery to home or pick up in store (if the stores out of stock, they can deliver to store), if you do PB over the phone.

  • +1

    Enjoy the discounts!!!

  • Can anyone at this stage who previously owned an 8GB M1 comment on their experience vs this, I suppose for general use (video encoding / high end design tasks aside)?

  • +1

Anyone successful in getting OW to PB on their click & collect macs? Most of these macs seem to be on backorder

update: called up OW and they said they would be only able to PB on the 1st of nov when stock comes zzzz

    • +3

By then, this 10% off sale from TGG may have ended and you can't PB anymore.

      • +1

Yupp, exactly. That or OW updates their prices.

      • I think the TGG offer ends on 3/11?

        • +5

          Yes, I realised that.

Anyway I just PB the 14" MBP at $3205.30 over the phone. The OW staff laughed and agreed he has already received multiple phone calls this morning regarding the same PB on the new MBP.

  • My local Officeworks reckons they won't give quotes with price matches.

    • To clarify, they think since they don't have stock of it, they can't price match it and quote it for me. The policy insinuates that the competitor has to have stock, not them… I tried with the 1300 office too and they said they won't price match and quote an item they have out of stock. I was looking for that top specced one.

      • I tried to call 1300 office, but I have been in queue for 15 min, what option did you click in the phone line?

        • 2 then 5. I was straight on at 8am though.

          • @obit11: I did that from 8… Waited for 15min, sounds wrong, redialed, now in queue for another 15 min

            Thx tho, I will wait

  • Just got Office Works do do a price match over the phone on a MacBook Air M1.
No stock locally so looks like a Monday delivery to local store on Sunshine Coast

  • +1

Just price matched 16” 512G on the phone. Waited 10 min on the line

    • They let you C&C on the nov 1st? Or was it in stock at the location you called?

      • +1

Delivery to nearest OW for pickup. Should be ready for collection tomorrow as per confirmation e-mail

  • +3

Got price beat for 16" 512GB over the phone, had to pay $8 extra because TGG only has it available for delivery (this is their delivery fee). Waited 20 mins on the line

  • +1

just ordered through the phone ordering team. on hold for 30 mins but the order process only took 5 mins

    • Same, I was worry for a moment, but got it in the end.

    • +1

Yeap, same, just got off the phone with them and easy price beat process. The sales mentioned only 8 left in stock at warehouse for the 16" Pro 1TB (likely 7 or less now after my order).

  • +1

Nice to see discounts so soon - surprising though giving stock levels already seem low

  • Does Apple's back to school promo include older Macbooks or will it only be for the new ones?

    • It usually does include older MacBooks.

  • +1

Got an email saying your order is under review, should I be concern?

    • Oh no….. Good luck and let us know how you went

      • A bit of a late response due to work, but about 1.5 hr after the email saying my order was under review, I received the order confirmation and stuff, might have been minor delayed, but seems to be fine.

  • Is the back to school, apple education deal where they include free airpods available with the AOC education apple store? 🤔

    • +1

I am curious too. Waiting out for that deal

  • I have $800 worth of apple gift cards and I dont know if I should go in the store and get them to match this offer and use gift cards or wait for a better promotion?

Thoughts? Is back to school sale reliable enough to wait for?

    • +1

You could possibly stack the $800 worth of apple gift cards with the AOC education apple store. If you want to have a look, Here is the link: https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pr…

      • Yeah might do… You reckon not worth waiting for any upcoming deals?

        • There might also be a back to school education deal where apple provides airpods for free with ipad and mac purchases (usually starts around 7th of Jan)… so might be worth waiting for, although I don't know if it applies for the AOC education apple store… I doubt tgere will be deals on black friday due to these machines being fairly new (although I can be wrong)… I am sure there will be other deals like this soon… it all depends when you need it. Hope this helps ;)

  • +2

Have finally gotten OW to pricebeat over the phone. They asked if I wanted delivery, I said no and they let me C&C at my local OW. Don't call the local stores (they're pieces of shite); call the main OW and you'll have no problem 👍

    Final price: $2564 (14" 8c/512gb)

Please read this before buying any M1 macbook:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11200934/redir

Neg is just to make you do research before buying it or at least buy AppeCare+.

    • I got a new Macbook Air M1 last Jan and just wiping the screen made it crack and Apple doesn't cover it under warranty.

So Apple refused to cover it under warranty for you? I am finding with Apple, other than iPhones, the warranty isn't as good as people thought and can be inconsistent. Phones, Apple seems to do the 2 years warranty (sometimes longer). However, other items are strictly one year. Phone support nowadays seems worse than support from Apple retail stores.

Apple warranty service used to be really good, but most recent experience hasn't been all that positive, especially for warranty on accessories.

      • No, they don't cover it under warranty as they say it's multicrack. Which the definition of cracks is by them. I got the documents for the case from Apple.
Although the Technician here stated that there is no physical damage and it should be factory defect, they called it's multicrack fault and not covered by warranty.
Looks like scam for me, coming from APPLE.

    • First things first these are NOT M1 MacBook. Second if this was even a slightly widespread issue, we would have heard it in the press. Negging a deal based on a comment by someone not even using the same laptop! Holy hell!

      • -1

I'm a decade apple user, macbook pro. After lots of research, bough the M1 air last Jan and loved it, up until the screen cracked and apple denied to cover it under warranty.
The Neg is a heads up call for people to be aware of a such thing. Please read the comments there and see the links.

        • +3

Which company would replace a cracked display under warranty unless it was a widespread issue and there is a recall of some sorts. On top it doesnt change the fact that the laptop in this deal isnt even the same one!

So people need to be aware of screen randomly cracking (taking your word) if they buy the M1 Air laptop but this isnt M1 Air. Its a completely different laptop inside out so how does it make any sense to neg this deal? I hope the mods are looking

          • -1

@dealsucker: You didn't read the comments and the links I mentioned before. The issue is for M1 Air/Pro.
And just for your information this deal has mentioned 5 M1 deals in the original post.

          • +1

@dealsucker: While the neg is not necessary, it is good for people to be aware of Apple's warranty on Macs. Like I mentioned before, the warranty service appears different for iPhones vs other Apple products. I was in an Apple store 2-3 years ago and I heard a customer with an iPhone with a cracked screen talking to an Apple staff. Eventually, he got that phone replaced by Apple. You don't get the same treatment for Macs and Macbook Pro's. There are quite a lot of horror stories.

Even for my most recent experience with AirPods Pro warranty. 1 year is up so no warranty support. Again, that's different to my experience with iPhone warranty support. Basically, it is good to know that before buying.

Also, it is not just 1 case. There have been multiple of those reported. Granted, those are for M1 based. However, you are not going to get better treatment just because it is M1 Pro/Max.

            • @netsurfer: Because I have used laptops for more than 20 years, I understand that it's not a normal screen on these M1 macbooks. Even the technician stated that it should be factory defect. My impression is that since there is a lawsuit against them, repairing these under warranty means they accept it's their fault.

Anyway, neg is there to make people read these and make decision knowingly.

              • @sade: So the technician stated that it should be a factory defect and still didnt change your display? Which technician was it? You are negging a deal which isnt even for the same laptop. Are you going to neg every deal on every Apple product because they did not replace a cracked screen on your laptop? I hope the mods are looking.

            • +1

@netsurfer: If they replaced a cracked display on a phone under warranty thats excellent customer service but its not an obligation. And i dont believe you for the Airpods Pro. Under Australian consumer laws they are liable to provide atleast 2 years warranry and I have had stuff replaced after 1 year easily. There's even a replacement program on for Airpods Pro specifically. May be try again.

  • Got through to OW after 20mins. No issues with PB and local C&C for $2564 (14" 8c/512gb)

  • I successfully got the PB at OW. Thanks Op!. I called their main office as well and had it sorted at 8am this morning.

Final Price confirmed $3205.3 with Price beat at OfficeWorks.

    MBP16215SG (16" 10c 512GB SSD, 16GB)

  • +7

Got the price beat from my local officeworks, was told to collect within 5 business days, but got collection notice 2 hours after the order, typing on the new computer now, cannot be happier.

  • What cable should I use to connect MBA to the HDMI port on Dell S2721QS (4K/60Hz)? A link will be much appreciated.
    Ordered one from OW.

    • MBA? usb-c to HDMI cable.

This post is about MBPs, which have an HDMI port, so a normal HDMI to HDMI cable will be sufficient.

  • +1

Just ordered my macbook pro 16 M1 Pro 1T model with 14% off (10% from TGG and 4% from TGG gift card)

    • How did you get the 4% off TGG Card?

      • My super company has the offer for the range of gift cards incl. TGG

    • Got a call from TGG this morning and the delivery will be early Nov.

  • Can anyone advise of an ETA for these?

My AOC order is due mid november, but would cancel for this

    • +1

I spoke to TGG phone sales last night, and they honestly don't know. Could be 1 month. 2 months. Who knows? Most likely in line with Apple's estimate on their website, but even that was a guess. The guy on the phone admitted this was not helpful, but said they have no info to work with.

      • +1

thanks, I might try officeworks price beat then, calling now. Cheers

  • This, or should I wait for a 15% off afterpay sale?

    • +1

This, because it is your money and your credit card. However, your heart tells me you want one of these new toys right now.

  • +2

It looks like OW is now updating their price to match

  • +2

Just called OW to PM and available for CC on 03/11

    • PM or PB?

      • PM and PB used interchangeably

  • +1

Tried to do a price beat with officeworks, but seems like they've changed it to the same price on their internal system. I was trying to order 10 core 14" with the OPB, but the they said the price was the same as good guys and wouldnt give a 5% off, even though the website did not show the same price.

That being said, I ordered anyway, getting it C&C at local store next monday

  • +5

I called this morning at about 9:30 to get a PB from OW, and was told they will PB but need to check on stock, so will give me a call back. At 11:50am now, no call back, and they updated their price, I feel like I got played by OW, that's a dodgy move.

    • ha ha.. seems a good way for OW to run away from PB

    • Definitely you got played. I called them around 9:50 and got PM. The lady checked stock availability while I was on the phone.

    • If you can't get PB from OW, why not buy from TGG with discounted gift cards?

    • +12

So after calling OW about how I felt I was cheated, OW honoured their PB price given I have initially called before they have updated their price. Kudos to OW for honouring it, since there's not much I can do besides whinge online about it even if they don't.

      • Don't OW know the normal big biz tactic to just hang up in your face !

  • Since the Officeworks deal won't work anymore (because same price): Harvey Norman (yes, that garbage pile) are offering gift cards with interest-free plan purchases.

    Spend:

    $3000-$3999: Get $150 card
    $4000-$4999: Get $200 card
    $5000-$5999: Get $250 card

    Costs $8.95/month

so, you can go to HN, get them price match GG, apply for an interest-free thing, get your Macbook Pro, then walk out and back in again and buy $150-$200 of accessories (messenger bag, headphones, whatever), then pay off your interest-free card in full.

You might still have to pay the $9 first monthly fee, so works out at $141-$191 of bonus stuff.

5% Officeworks discount would be better, but this isn't nothing.

Just in case no one has mentioned, amazon has price matched.

    • +1

Thanks! Ordered the non base 14" and paid using discounted Amazon cards. Delivery date next Wednesday (Perth) apparently!

  • Where do you get gift card for amazon with a discount?

  • -1

Nobody has stock for 32GB RAM option! Get the 16GB? I don't care about having a more powerful CPU, I just want a bigger RAM.

    • Calm! Just ordered it from the Apple store.

      • bit the bullet and ordered the 16gb ram version from amazon. At least I saved some money not getting the 32gb. It says it'll be delivered tomorrow. We'll see…

      • Did apple still give you 10% off even though us ordered the upgraded ram?

        • Doubt it, because he is not price matching the exact same configuration. Once you choose a BTO model, you won't get any discount.

          • @edfoo: That is what I would expect. I have an appointment in store tomorrow. I can ask if they can do a 10% off even with 32GB but Ill be happy if I walk away with an 14" 8/14 M1 Pro 16GB Ram 512GB SSD at $2699. Can't wait!

  • Apple stores will price match TGG if you prefer buying direct.

    • If they price match, can you then use Apple credit?

    • Word of warning. If the place you are buying from doesn’t have stock in store then they may not honour the price match. I believe it may be up to manager discretion.

  • Anyone found a hard Shell Case for this yet?

  • Price Matched OW yesterday over the phone. Picked up today!

    • Same. Picked mine up after work this evening. Just finished updating the MacOS to 12.0.1, took quite a while.

  • +1

Will JB HI-FI match anyone here?

    I'm overflowing with 17% off cards .

    • Definitely interested to know!

    • Pretty sure they'll easily match 10% @ TGG (given it's same company) or OW (they've matched it easily in the past for me)… bigger issue will be finding stock.
