Good deal except 55 is just too small for most people these days, especially at 1695

    • +16

Not necessarily, it's a good size for a smaller apartment. I would think it's still the most popular OLED size. I do think a 60" option would be nice though. A 65" is just too big for my TV room unfortunately.

      • -3

I still watch a 55 myself, but realistically aside from the fact that I expect to move shortly, and I have known for a while, I would have bought a 65 or greater a fair time ago. I would probably have even been happy to drop somewhat in quality to get the larger size. 55 is the minimum now, and yes it's OK for some people, but buying the minimum almost guarantees obsolescence sooner. Also mounting a TV can often mean less space taken up so the extra inches take wall space and not necessarily space in a room

        • +9

55" as minimum only applies to you and some other people, not to everyone. For others 55" is considered large.

    • +5

Hey, it's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean.

      • Norseman ? 😭

    • +8

It depends how far you sit. If you are close enough it is perfect.

      • +6

This is the correct answer. Seems not many people understand or care about optimal viewing distances.

      • It depends how far you sit. If you are close enough it is perfect.

        Lol, funny because it's true.

I have a 65" which is a good size for my the distance between my couch and my TV, but if I hold up my 6" phone 50cm from my face, it is a bigger picture.

    • +2

I agree, I got a 55 ages ago and regret it. Should have just got that extra 10 inches.
      Size matters you know.

      • +1

Depends how far away you are, as per Mistredo.

    • 55” is perfect for a smaller room. I’m sitting about 1.5 meters from mine and it looks huge. Of course I sometimes wish it was bigger but it would be to big then I think.

  • +2

Not an all time low. I purchased the A1 55" for $1610 from Appliance Central a few weeks ago.

    • +2

Yup, this is what I expect a C1 to drop to. A1 is barely above the budget class; needs to drop further.

  • +1

My B7 is still going strong with my shield box, very slight burn ins cos of gaming , the only problem is the screen brightness is dimmed a bit. Consider going with LG oled again for next purchase.

    • +1

I have a 55” C6 with a little burn-in from Netflix or a menu that says netflix. Looking at a 55” LG OLED when it happens though, picture quality is fantastic.

      • +2

How are you getting burn in?

It goes to the fireworks screensaver after like a minute.

        • +1

I really don’t know. Image shift is on as well

        • Its only from the C8 onward that they got on top of burn in. It still happens but a lot less then what it used to.

        • +1

Most likely they don't have the screensaver on.

Not sure of the anti burn in stuff with the old 6 series, but anything past the 8 I've never heard of any burn in on a domestic use basis at standard settings.

        • +1

My B7 55" got Burn in from using the MUTE when ads came on, (the mute symbol on screen only appears in the same couple of spots)
after 2 or 3 years it was so noticeable even doing the pixel refresh didn't get rid of it, so I switched from the HDMI ARC audio to use the Toslink cable.

Just have to use 2 remotes (TV remote & Soundbar remote) I still mute the ads but the mute notice only appears on the soundbar display not the TV screen
the TV does the pixel refresh and I haven't noticed the burn in the past couple of months 😊

          • @OzzyB2013: My B7 ha burn in last year, well out of warranty.LG came out replace the panel absolutely no hassles.Been great since. Burn in was from FTA 7 logo…give LG a buzz customer service was great… no extended warranty neee

            • @ern123: .
Hi Thanks for the tip but since switching to using the Toslink and after several pixel refreshers the Mute Logo Burn in has cleared up
my Samsung HW-K550 soundbar ARC connection had become flaky so I tried the Toslink cable and it works and I noticed the Mute Logo did not appear on the TV screen and over the past 4 or 5 months has gone ……..I will keep your tip in mind if it ever appears again

      • No problems with our C6 so far… Now I'm nervous

        • If you haven't with a C6 at this stage, your viewing behaviours are probably pretty safe for looking after the tv.

          • +1

@Anthropomorphised: Saved by that screen saver. I have a windows media PC hooked up to it and always forget to turn it off. So far the windows menu bar at the bottom hasn't burnt in.

        • +1

Watch out for FTA channel 7 logo.

          • @ern123: watch out for burn in on your brain when watching channel 7

    • Even after burn in you guys are happy to get OLED again? I just got a 65 C1 and am probably treating it like a baby a bit too much. I’ve just heard horror stories of burn in occurring and have spent too much to replace it in 2 years.

      • +2

With a B8 used as a main monitor for Windows and gaming 12 hours a day for a few years I've yet to experience burn in.

        • +1

Not even with the windows taskbar?

      • +2

The burn in I have is only noticeable on a solid background (like solid white). So I don’t remember it’s there most of the time.
At these sort of prices it’s a great deal in my opinion. I spent $4k on mine in 2016 😳

      • +1

Gonna add my 2c here and will probably never get an OLED ever again unless there are evolutions in the technology that stop this.

I have a 4 year old C7 and the burn in is pretty ridiculous. Panel was swapped by LG about a year or so in and I babied it since then but even so, I still got burn in… And just to be clear wasn’t from red static images but from subtitles of all things.

        • Yeah I watch everything wit subtitles and so does my partner so pretty much if the tv is on, there are subtitles. I know you can change the transparency of some apps but still a little worried. Not sure if I’m being dramatic or if it’s a real concern. Have heard a lot about the newer panels are much better for avoiding burn in but I guess I’m still worried that only last generation there was still problems with it.

          • +1

@JoKing: I have a C9 and have watched subtitles on nearly everything since its been bought. No burn in.

        • Same here (also C7, also had the panel replaced once). Burn-in from subtitles and a YouTube logo. Screensaver is active, and pixel shift or whatever it’s called.

          • @Sven Viking: Was the panel replacement costly?

            • +1

@JoKing: Free no dramas well out of warranty for my 55B7

              • +1

@ern123: Wow! LG replaced it for free even though it was out of warranty?

            • @JoKing: They did it for free, less than a year out of warranty, I guess based on Australian Consumer Law which can require longer warranties on expensive brand-name items. I didn't ask for it, just described the problem and sent photos etc.

        • +1

Same story, however my panel replacement on 55 B7 has been great.

      • +1

I've heard it's improved a lot in recent years (so less chance of burn in). The B7 and C6 are now 4 and 5 years old respectively.

      • Are you using as a TV or as a monitor? just make sure you have your screensaver set to a short duration and you'll probably be fine honestly. I have my C6 set for one minute after pause since it just sleeps the tv and have never had an issue

        • I’m using it as a tv but yeah with subtitles for just about everything.
My screensaver is set to shortest possible and got all the OLED panel care settings on, but yeah was just a big purchase so thought I’d ask what others have experienced (not sure why my comment has been negged)

          • +1

@JoKing: Take a look at the latest Neo QLED range from Samsung. It’s still not OLED level of PQ but it’s damn close

    • I'd hope it's still going strong…my Grannies Rank Arena CRT is still functional (purchased in 1974). Actually I've never seen any TV fail in my life time (CRT, LCD or LED)…hope I didn't just curse myself…what fails?

      • Capacitors and the like. My Sony 40" LCD broke twice, one time internals the other the screen got a few streaks of dead pixels.

        • I did have a capacitor let go (nice bang) on my old el cheapo Omni CRT. But it came right back on and continued working. Funny enough, I still use that some times for watching the shitty quality broadcast AFL. When people see it they ask if it's a new TV tech as the picture is so clear..haha (which they are obviously used to watching horrid upscaling of the AFL on their TVs).

  • +6

I know the comparisons have been linked by OP, but to really spell it out.

This TV does not have VRR or HDMI 2.1 nor can it support any resolution at 120fps.
So as a gamer I would suggest not getting the A1.

    • Thank you this is all I needed

  • Can anyone suggest a low profile wall mount for these screens?

  • +1

at least get a B1, 4k 120hz dolby vision upgrade is confirmed.

    • How much is that?

    • Are B series a thing?

  • +4

Man OzB is such a circle jerk. Go to a C1 deal and all the OLED shills deny burn in - but then you see any other OLED deal and the burn in comments are real as. Weird.

    • Most people don't look at any other model, so the small subset of people who believe it's a valid concern for 98% of consumers get to freewheel around unfettered by data and logic.

    • +4

Because the series 8 onwards have dealt with any rare burn in.

Most of the burn in fanatics have never owned an OLED, but would be first to buy them if they were the same price as a comparable LED, QLED etc. People just want to hate on then because of their price and inky blacks.

  • Meanwhile I just purchased a brand new LG BX for $1350 delivered from Jb Hifi. Reckon if you can wait, then wait for the a1 to drop even further when next gen comes out.

    • Far out that’s a bargain. Would have snapped that up instead of the $2150 I paid for my c1 2 months ago

    • What size?

      • LG BX 55

        • How did you purchase it? Can't see it on website.

          • +1

            @Cynicaloflife: It's not.

I went into a physical store and they had a floor model bx 55 on show for that price.

We noticed that the screen had major burn in issues and the sales rep tried to get me a new one for the same price and he actually did. 🤣

            • @7neoxis1337: Nice! I need to check it out. I think the stock is limited. Not a bad price of OLED!

  • -4

I wouldn't settle for anything less than 65 inches.
stop pretend size doesn't matter 😆😆😆
