I took advantage of the 30× Flybuys and 10% Zip cashback for Apple GC's..

I will lose very little on this phone when I sell it in two years time. At least they hold their value and work reliably. My S9+ has become laggy, bad battery and the screen is way too dim in the sun. Hate the curved edges too. Ready for the simplicity of iPhone after ten years of Android.

        • +1

Some call it simplicity, some call it limitations

        • Second hand Apple prices are starting to drop a bit too now. They held better back in the day when people lined up for the new releases and initial production was scarce. Now there is so much supply and people are more prepared to pay the few hundred more for the latest in Apple or any other brand.

        • Meh, never really cared about resell price. I run my phones to the ground. My mate 20x still sold for $350 even after nearly 3 years bought it for $1k.

Managed to grab the s21U 512gb for $1199 so I won't really be losing much sleep about depreciation.

    • +1

I have just upgraded from S9+ to S21 , way better phone and camera. Go enjoy your iPhone 😅

  • +2

So many good s21 deals. Crazy.

Have they had any similar deals on something like note 20 ultra? My wife wants expendable memory.

    • Best I remember is $999 from JB. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/639380

Aus version of N20U is terrible though, with its inferior Exynos 990.

Look at S20 FE instead, it has expandable storage.

      • While the s20fe seems like better value (from RRP), her two priorities besides expendable memory is a big screen and a good camera. So the note20 ultra seems more appropriate.

But I'll keep an eye out for a deal on the s20fe as well, thanks.

        • Yeah those three are hard to come by together these days.

I can't think of any premium phone with a large screen, top-notch camera, and expandable memory all at the same time.

Maybe Note 20 Ultra might be a good option after all, if there is a sale again.

  • $5 for S8 :(

    • +2

But you get $500 bonus. Just sell the S8 on ebay.

      • In previous deal, they said there was a new $80 admin fee if you don't sent the old phone in.
Have people actually been charged that?

        • +3

Not that I am aware of.

        • +3

Bought s21 ultra in sept, never returned the phone. Never got charged with admin fee

        • +2

I made use of this deal about a month ago and did not send in my s10e. I was only charged the value of the phone. There was no admin fee

    • +1

They dropped its value already? Got this deal last month and my S8 was valued at $30.
They never asked me to mail in the S8 btw.

  • The last deal was better right? Last deal also had $200 off retail price?

    • Yes, this is not the best deal. Given upcoming S22 launch, better hold off.

    • +1

yeah last deal was better, $250 off + $350 trade-in = $600 off rrp for the s21… not sure about the s21+ or ultra

    • Think it was $300 so yeh much better

  • They should tradeup iPad like Microsoft 🙄

    • I think they do.

      • But not that price and not with iPad 2, 3, 4 XD

    • That was a great deal xD

  • +2

With all other alternatives and new release approaching, don't touch it. They are really struggling to get rid of S21 now and trying to not lose market share meanwhile.

Mine took a full month to arrive and they wouldn't even let me cancel the purchase. Something in the fine prints.

    • Mine took 2 weeks. Got the custom brown colour delivered on Friday.

  • +1

Wait, so did the old deal actually finish and then re-start, or is this different in some way…?
ah - last deal had discounted phones too.

  • My wifes s21 has been a laggy mess, Samsung replaced the motherrboard starting the phone had an issue, however the issue still persists.

    Anyone else had this issue?

    • +3

get them to replace the whole phone. They are under obligation to do what YOU want. The three Rs….Replace Repair, Refund if there is a major issue. Australian Statutory law

      • Get a full replacement

    • Two S21 in use for several months now, no problems so far

  • Is this Australian Special edition with Exynos cpu?

    • +1

All Australian S21 phones have the Exynos SoC.

      • +3

That is an Australian special indeed!
In Korea, Samsung offers life long labor free repair warranty.
Every cent you spend on Samsung is Subsiding Korean local warranty.

  • Almost means I could trade in my s20 se with maybe only a little bit loss what the phone cost me. Not that I will buy complete madness :-)

  • I'm waiting for a similar deal (like what they did for the s21 earlier this year )for when they release the s22. Sadly pixel is not an option cos the phone is too big. Iphone would be an option if it was like 300-500$ cheaper…

  • +2

Its hilarious how poor the user reviews are on samDung's own webite for S21!

  • +1

You can further receive 5% off by checking Samsung Members App and click on vouchers. You should have a secret sale banner which will give you 5% off on s21 range.

  • +5

Moving away from Samsung. Tired of being ripped off with Exynos.

$700 bonus toward zfold 3 as well in case anyone is interested in that phone.

    • +2

Yep I'm done as well. Will be looking at Pixel now.

    • +7

The exynos this year isn't too bad, it's only about 5% off the sd888 in most benchmarks. That makes it about on par with the Google tensor, which also uses Samsung silicon.

      • But the difference in camera quality is what kills it for me.

  • +1

anyone know if they would accept trade in for $0 for a damaged eligible device to get the $500?

    • +1

Yes, I just tried, and it did accept it. Along with a $100 loyalty voucher and Samsung Members App discount.

      • have you actually got the new phone yet?

        • +1

Just put through the order this morning, so haven't got the new phone yet.

          • @ezza8: alright because previously in the older deals what I heard is if the trade is worth any value they still access it and can reduce your trade but I can't see anything about the $500 conditions anywhere

i mean people would just buy some cracked broken galaxy devices off ebay to get the $500

      • oh wow, $0 works?!

With reference to the quote/source below, I thought $0 devices weren't eligible for trade-in (i.e. $500 bonus not available).

Quote: "Your existing device must be listed here [https://www.samsung.com/au/tradeup/] and have a value of more than $0 after assessment."
Source: https://www.samsung.com/au/smartphones/galaxy-s21-5g/buy/ > scroll to the #2 footnote.

        • +1

Trade up app gave the Trade in code (with $0 value). Order went through, and payment taken from my card. Email confirmation however says order is awaiting 'verification'. Fingers crossed.

          • @ezza8: That's great to hear!

btw, which device/configuration did you end up ordering?

      • How much did you get for the Samsung members app discount? is it 5% as it says or is it more? For me when I use the Samsung member discount code, it's way more than 5%. Cheers.

        • Yeah, it gave more than 5% off over RRP. Can't remember the exact figure, but it was more like 5% additional discount over the exisiting discount over RRP.

  • Upgraded on the last deal (sidegrade?) From S10+ to S21.

Loving it for all the reasons I chose it, smaller, lighter, faster, better fingerprint, with 120hz you can't go back, scrolling both phones side by side, you could see how bad 60hz was.

Bought Shanling UA2 DAC a month before so not missing 3.5mm jack.

  • Any love for the Samsung S21 FE?

  • Can anyone confirm if code stacking is working?? Last deal it seeemed u were unable to stack different codes.

  • Wow.

I'm surprised so many negative experiences from people, especially with most on here I assume grabbing one at a ridiculously low price.

Glad I stayed away, but the people who grabbed one for $300 is still an awesome deal.

Pixels normally drop fast in value, I may wait 3-6 months tho.

  • +3

Extra $500 because price back to full RRP. Was $300 before with the $200 discount of RRP. Samsung just moving the discounts around, but same total discount. From what I can see they seem to work on a 50% discount with coupons and extra bonuses stacked (Not including your handset trade in amount). Sometimes the extra codes will be accepted but no extra discount applied.

    • The previous deal was $500 trade-in bonus + $300 or 200 discount of RRP (depends on the model you buy).

The current deal is $500 trade-in bonus without any discount of RRP, so it looks like the total discount is actually $300 or $200 (depend of the model you buy) less than the previous deal, unless I am missing something?

      • You are correct. Just got the non-return charge so total was about 400. The discounted price ranges between 250~600 so this post is at the higher end of it

  • +1

Too bad Samsung removed micro sd storage from their flagship. Makes it easy to switch to another brand…

  • +1

Do you still have to send the trade in device or can you just pay the device fee and keep it like before.

    • +1

Too lazy reading the previous comments hey?
It's alright I get it. So well help you out.
You can pay the fee and keep the phone. I did it with mine. No admin fee as some have mentioned. Ymmv

Hoping the rumors of the Note 22 being the S22 ultra are true.

    • Following this as well. They're essentially getting rid of the note line as it's own product and integrating the spen into the s22 ultra.

2021 was a year to test the market to see if they'd replace their spen with a standalone version like the Apple pencil and their ipads. But what was revealed was having the spen actually integrated into the phone, charging and all, was essential.

As a result, this was the compromise. An S-Line product line with an spen.

To be fair, the note line is no longer the premiere top of the line, all the tech Samsung has to offer anymore. That stopped after the note 9, though for some, it may have stopped after the note 4.

Instead of splitting their market, they've just made the S22U their flagship product with everything they supposedly have to offer.

  • Hmm they don't seem to accept Xiaomi devices

  • anyone been able to get on live chat?
if so what browser were you using?

    • Ive used Chrome

Just start a chat by using an icon on right bottom corner

    • Try to do it in normal business hours

  • Can someone just confirm I am reading this right.

    The S21 RRP is $1249.
I get $50 off for subsciption.
    $100 off for loyalty.
    $500 bonus trade in bonus
+Trade in value of the phone ($85 in my case)
    Which comes to $514?

Or even more if my trade in value was greater.i.e. $99 if my trade in is with $500?

Seems to good to be true.

    • You'd have to pay $85 if you don't plan on returning your phone. Don't look at the rrp, it's inflated. This is the povo version of the s21, it's been on sale for about $600 without these trade-ins.

      • +1

        Sorry, what's povo version?

        • +1

          Budget. Basic. Bottom. Cheap

          • @Mikeyy888: Sorry for the naive question, but how is this different from the standard S21? I know it is not an Ultra or a '+'. But if it is just the standard S21, it's till a good price. JB is selling for $1249.

        • Poverty Pack…

  • Getting this message: Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment.

  • Does anyone know Samsung's return policy? Is it easy to return the phone in case of wrong expectations?

Im worrieing about battery life as my current phone has x1.5 bigger battery but its always about settings usage etc

    • They will accept a change of mind if unopened.

      • +1

Lol he wants to test battery

        • I think he should just watch review for that.

  • Anyone successfully able to use trade-in code today?

    • I did. No probs.

  • Has anyone ever done the Mandelbrot or some crazy opengl based programming purely on Androids ecosystem not windows before, or Linux.

    Raspberry pi counts.

If not, well it's s dam shame because phones are amazing in all its shapes and sizes.

  • I have placed my order with trade in option. Does anyone know if they will ask me to mail my current phone?

    • Yep you will get an email saying it's time to trade in your phone. You then should get two more reminders before being charged the discount amount you got for your phone (not the $500 bonus). I wasn't charged an admin fee.

      • thanks for reply

  • +1

New discounts start from nov 1, i say wait for couple of days

  • +5

    Here we go again…

    • what about the chat code?
    • how long until the sign up voucher arrives?
    • which chat did you get the code from?
    • They asked for an IMEI
    • did you get charged an admin fee
    • did you get charged the full discount amount if you don't return
    • how long do you have to wait for the chat?
    • the chat timed out
    • does it stack in the education store
  • Just purchased a S21 Ultra for absolutely no bloody reason. Trading in a perfectly fine Note20 Ultra. I just wanted the much better CPU and (according to review) about 25% better battery life.

$515 trade in, $500 bonus, and $100 loyalty voucher. Brought it from $1949 to $834. That'll do pig, that'll do.

    • Must be a gamer who needs that much of cpu usage?

      • No. Just want the battery to last longer without sacrificing screen quality.

        • Better of just selling note 20 ultra separately. Just saying.

          • @aveeno bb: Maybe, but probably only just. I got $1015 of trade in with the bonus, and they sell for about $1100-$1200, but then you have to deal with all the shit of selling a phone, rather just trade it in.

            • @AdosHouse: If you keep the phone, they only charge you $515. Better off sell it for $900, about $400 profit.

      • My s21 ultra still runs diablo like trash. Can't even get 120fps :(

  • I used the 5% off discount from Samsung Members app, after I applied it took the remaining amount to pay for my S21 from around $300 down to $27, so according to my maths it actually took around 20% off the total cost. Not sure why or how, but just a heads up.
