Good to see they jacked up all their prices or exorbitant shipping prices to make up for it. Any of these general ebay sales should be banned from here unless its a specific deal.

    • +15

Perhaps time for you to appreciate that there really are some bargains available, that others of us are happy to take advantage of, rather than jumping to be first with tiresome posts about price jacking.

      • +9

Thats fine then post the real bargains if you find one. Generic ebay sale is a waste of price jacking time!

    • as a seller on ebay, when they send out the details of these promotions, its against the terms for the seller to jack prices.
so if you do note it; complain to ebay and they should do something about it.

      • +12

I did a while ago. They basically refused to take note and said buy somewhere else or it’s a little cheaper with discount code.

        • +1

          if thats there response.
remember ebay have a lowest price guarantee. just make sure to take advantage of that if you can and do spot it cheaper elsewhere on a eligible store.

        • +5

Almost as bad as the blatant scalpers on there flogging off PS5's and Nvidia Founders Edition GPUs.

I tested this myself, went into Ebay help, and there was a clear cut price gouging article. So I read the instructions and went to the sellers page.

seller had no store, 5 - 10 items in 1 frame and 2x MSRP for their listing, so tried to report as stated in ebay help..
nup. doesn't work as the options do not exist in their drop-down menu - contrary to what they state in their own help.

reported a dozen scalpers to ebay, they took the numbers and said thanks, we'll look into it.

Nothing changed… still there.. perhaps even more now.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

      • +12

That's about the most naive comment i have read in some time. EBay won't do shit.

        • +2

JCrown9 is a seller who benefits from these price jacking so nothing surprising about posting that sort of comment.

That's like politicians easily voting to increase their pay
while voting against doing the same for the entire population.

          • @pinkybrain: I do not benefit at all as i do not do it.

feel free to go shop in my store and support local australian manufacturing :)

        • +2

He's just patronising all of us by saying if you find someone price jacking, why don't you report it. Thats IF you could prove it and IF you could get Ebay to do anything.

      • If eBay doesn't want price jacking, stop doing the split 3% eBay cover 12% seller cover.

We never join these events anymore. eBay acts like it's a privilege, but it's just a load of bull

it’s a day off for ACCC

      • +2

been more than a day off for a long time for ACCC in regards to ebay price jacking and fake discounts…

ACCC have being in a coma in regards to any ebay business..

Surely there would have been many reports/complaints about ebay price jacking and fake discounts to to ACCC for many years now.

      • They have 365 days off a year

    • +4

Oh sorry i just saw it online and thought I'd share since it hadn't shown up here.
Hopefully it'll be useful to someone without markups on everything

      • -2

Don't worry about them. After 6+ years of eBay sales and hundreds of years of sales in general people are still only working out that prices go up and down.

It'll be a long time until people work it out otherwise. Many still think carrots give you night vision 😑

    • +1

Not really, I been looking at an AGM battery for a few weeks and now its 17% off the price so not bad

  • Normally dealbot would have post these eBay deals…

    • Was surprised it was taking so long for someone to post it lol.

  • Looking for reasonable price phone for my son, at least 6GB ram, 128GB storage.

    Not many bargain listed.

    • +1

Xiaomi POCO X3 Pro or Xiaomi POCO F3

      • Seem only Banggood is the cheapest.

        • Yeah banggood or aliexpress. Ebay isn't really great for budget phones imo

    • need to post your budget..

      lots of cheapo android phones

      • Like around the price of the POCO X3, waiting to see if any better deal for Samsung A51, A52s, etc.

        • +1

what is the price of pocox3 you are looking at spending?

          300, 400, 500 dollars?

If you got an old phone, you can do tradein + bonuses for samsung s21 etc.. for similar price to these phones you listed
which has much better spec and cameras etc..

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/660262

Also xiaomi phones are known have adware implemented in their OS so something to consider.

          • @pinkybrain:

If you got an old phone, you can do tradein + bonuses for samsung s21 etc.

Already traded S7 for S21 for my wife, no more old phone to trade.

Also xiaomi phones are known have adware implemented in their OS

That is why thinking Samsung A series.

            • @superforever: just buy a cheapie older phone on gumtree or ebay etc.. and do the trade in..

The samsung A series is still not as good as an S21 in spec and camera..

Not sure how samsung A series compare to xiaomi poco x3 phone though in specs and camera quality etc..

the Samsung A series is about same price as S21 after trade in

              https://www.google.com/search?q=samsung+a+series+phones&sour…

but the specs is not is good so I think for long term sake, better to somehow get the S21 again if you can..
which would have better trade in option in the future if your son wants to get S22 next year etc..

Don't know if the A series are able to be traded in as part of Samsung trade in program

              • @pinkybrain: The cheapest is Samsung S8 but no way to 100% sure if the trade in app will work with the 2nd hand phone.

My friend S8 bought locally here but didn't work with the app.

              • @pinkybrain: iphone 6 can trade in ? how much discount

                • @dcep:

iphone 6 can trade in ?

No, only iPhone 7 32GB, you can check from Samsung trade in site which model allowed but we are after the $500 trade in bonus not the value of the phone.

              • @pinkybrain: After my Samsung Note 4 failed after 2 years because of Software problem, even I couldn't turn it on. I bought two Xiaomi phone (first one was stolen) and Samsung A series, for the same price the Xiaomi always was faster but the camera at night was not as good as Samsung. I could say I prefer to stick to Xioami because the hardware and software works well and don't become slower when the new model comes out.

From the spec the xiaomi poco x3 look like a great phone.

        • Was the a52s education discounted one not enough? Around $440 for it and it has 4 years of updates

          • @Ibz:

a52s education discounted one not enough? Around $440 for it and it has 4 years of updates

Thanks, I have to get somebody to help to check the price on edu store or company store.

I bought Xiaomi before but I prefer Samsung now because of updates.

            • @superforever: Ah sorry I assumed your son was in school. Maybe post on the forums and see how that goes. The annoying part is just getting the 50$ voucher

Bargain gods were smiling on me today…picked up a refurbished ASUS ROG Strix G15 RTX3070 Laptop for $1999.

Still a couple semi decent deals on via Treasure PC.

    • link pls

      • Both items that were listed are sold out. Definetly was pick of the deals from this seller.

        • +1

Probably the best deal of this whole sale tbh haha. Sad there were only 3 or I would have posted it for others to try their luck.

    • Arghhh haha I know exactly which one. Had it watched

Was waiting for a 100 off code to come along. Snooze ya lose

It's a great pick up. Congrats!

      • Haha sorry. I actually purchased one last night with 100 off then cancelled and reordered this morning to save the extra coin. I'm amazed it didn't sell out with the 100 off and was only having a few views per hour at that price. Even full price at 2299 was pretty competitive for a refurb with warranty considering the lappy goes for close to 3k new.

1999 was just insane VFM with even the lowest shit tier 3070 laptops being around 2400.

        • Exactly my thoughts lol

I just though jack would be in town and didn't check at 10am for this Lappy

I guess jack had the last laugh by not comin when expected 🤣

Enjoy brother looks super mean for the price.

          • @agalea101: Thanks mate - keep an eye around you'll find something soon. I've been eyeing off that gigabyte a5 chassis with the 5900hx and 140w 3070 - have had the previous model and cooling/build quality was great. Avoid the gigabyte auros though.

Lenovo legions can also be haggled down considerably via Lenovo chat.

            • @Canberralad92: Yes it was this or Lenovo Legion 5pro

Hmm A5 gigabyte aye. Will do some research cos that 140w sounds delicious.

I watched a few vids and they are up there as my main ones to get.

Back to rain dance prayers for Legion 5 pro deals I guess haha

              Enjoy!

        • Reminds me of the brand new Strix 3080/5900hx deal for ~$2500 I saw earlier this year on eBay… Really was an insane deal looking back now.

  • I bought something at 8 this morning that is now reduced under this deal. Boy-o that is annoying.

    • same here.

Lots of price jacking going on, seeing it live. Futu just jacked 970 Evo Plus 1TB up $20 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231021249013 Was still $179 for a short while after the code went live.

980 Pro 1TB still not jacked, get in quick before they do https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/363116466558

These Samsung drives come with Far Cry 6 codes btw.

Yeah, I saw 500GB Seagate Firecuda 510 go from $100 neat, to $109 for the sale, discount brings it back to $90.47 though, so at least a little over $9 savings to be had after the price rise.

      That's on Shopping Express Clearance.

Always a good time to grab some booze from Boozebud with these promo's, better than going direct
Carton of Matso's Gingerbeer for $80.34 is a good deal IMO.

    • Boozebud is my first check too with these promotions - mostly in to whisky though.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Love getting some expensive rums for cheaper.

    • Was thinking the exact same thing. A couple of whiskies I've been keeping an eye out on (Adberg and Lagavulin) will be a good deal at 17% off. The question is, has there been any eBay or booze-bud discount that's higher than 15/17%? Perhaps a better deal during black friday / cyber Monday?

  • also SHO50FF for 5% off selected sellers eg: Computer Alliance, Big W, Bing Lee etc..

  • To me the deals I look for are either computeralliance or digidirect specific deals. Or the true blanket deals.

These deals involving futu et al are duds

  • +2
  • Does anyone know if eBay does better than 17% during cyber-monday? About to raid booze-bud

  • Any DJI air 2s deals?

    been looking for a while.

Gawd… I checked the RTX 3080 prices from december and you could by a non lhr card and a whole gaming PC for 1999.

    Inflation is real

  • Lots of Joyo guitar accessories at a good price. The prices are the cheapest and 17% off on top of that is really a good price.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/e/coupon-offers/15-to-17-off-with-pl…

  • OML could they make this any harder to navigate if they tried?
114000+ products and they've got things like common Yu-Gi-Oh cards in there. Really?

And when I try to search I get halfway through a word before it randomly closes and views an absolutely irrelevant product instead.

    • Since I found this kind of post, I never search 15/17% off eBay deal any more, only 20+% now. I do not think any seller is happy to fund 14% so that you know what'll happen. If they are, they might overlook the terms and correct it next time.

      • Not sure why that is a forum post yet this is a bargain post but sure whatever…

Sellers funding 14% is absolute bullshit though in addition to the selling and final value fees etc. Why do any of the companies agree to this? Surely if none did they would consider lowing this amount?
