  • How is this compared to Valvoline brand ? Thanks in Advance

    • Same specs, higher price. You're welcome in retrospect.

Seems a bit expensive compared to other historical deals this year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/castrol-edge

But this comes with a bonus sticker, for your dipstick… Adds killerwasps or something…

Agree, it's more expensive. I'd rather a cheaper price without the sticker.

~$32 for 5L is the usual sweetspot.

With the end of restrictions, opening borders and the spread of covid I'm sure petroleum companies are ramping up production to get in on the $$$ while they can, exploit the earth exploit fellow mankind.

Money rules, bitches! all in or die

Why do we want a sticker for our dipstick?

    • I'd go the nulon based on price, I've used both, you will not notice any difference except in your back pocket.
I haven't looked at the specs but I'd say there would be bugger all difference between them.

      • Actually that's not at all accurate… The Nulon is a petrol only product with no OEM specifications outside of petrol GM/Holden vehicles whilst the Castrol product is petrol diesel and has a range of European OEM approvals. As with any oil, buy the right product for the right application (regardless of brand) and be wary of message board advice!

    • ooo wish i saw that one

Castrol, guaranteed to sludge up your engine. Either that or it'll drink it like water.

    • So what do you suggest otherwise then?

      • -2

Nulon, Penrite, Valvoline, Gulf Western, Liqui Moly. You can find any spec for any vehicle in these brands and save your engine.
Castrol are a ripoff, paying to secure OEM status and their name on an oil cap, often making a bespoke oil for the trade and not available readily to the public.
