Infinity O5-11R5N-888 15.6" 144Hz Gaming Laptop w/ i711800H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 3050P $1599 (Was $1799) Delivered @ Mwave

Been searching for a budget-friendly gaming laptop for the past 3 days. This was listed @ $1799 on PC Case Gear, Scorptec & Mwave - but tonight it is magically $1599 on Mwave only. Hope it helps someone!!!

FWIW I was tossing up between this one, MSI Sword 15, Acer Nitro 5 (i7 and r7), Asus ROG Strix and Dell G15.

This new price point did it for me.

**EDIT: wow, lots of comments. I guess I should have mentioned that this won't really be used for gaming, so prob shouldn't have put 'gaming', although it is marketed as that. Hence why I'm happy with the GFX card as is.
My non-negotiables were 144Hz screen, 2KG weight max, and a built-in webcam. Good battery too (had better battery specs than all i was comparing).
So far, I'm super happy with it (Y)

Specs:

RAM: 16
Hz: 144
CPU: i7 11800H
GFX: RTX 3050-P
Screen: 15.6"
Ghz: 4.6
Battery: 4-cell 62Wh
Weight: 1.9kg
SSD: 512GB
Warranty: 2Y (upgrade to 3Y for $200 extra)

    4GB 3050 is crap, dude.

    • It's not really. It's a pretty capable card for 1080p 60FPS in AAA games and 1080p 144HZ for esports. Plus in any game that supports DLSS is quite reasonable.

Why would you go with this over the Acer nitro 5 that was cheaper and had 3060?

    • yeah i agree - you can get 11th Gen Acer Nitro's on ebay with 16GB Ram and RTX3060's for around $1400 - $1500.
      Might be a better option.

that is a LOT to pay for a crap 3050 card.

if you consider this budget friendly, grab a Lenovo Legion for $1579, they are doing a promotion now
gives you (slightly) better graphics, better panel, better build, and saves you twenty bucks.

    twenty bucks, Karl!

"shipped in 2 days" according to Lenovo, unlike their other awesome deals that you have to wait months to be delivered.

    TIL $1600 is "budget friendly"

      Welcome to inflation.

      • I don't think you understand what inflation means (too much money chasing too few goods). It's called welcome to an Ethereum crypto boom.
GPU production is rising at a much faster rate than the money supply.

      • It's not like we're living in Argentina where inflation is ~49% a year.

Wrong economic term. I think you're meaning supply and demand.

Besides, while this is a budget gaming laptop its price is not.

        • You don't need to have 49% inflation rate to call it inflation. The US is having 5-10% inflation right now. And if they measured their inflation with the same method they did back in the 70's they would be in the 15%-20% inflation rate already.

          • @ocdguy:

In 2020, the average inflation rate in Australia was at about 0.89 percent compared to the previous year.

Don't think that inflation rate is going to suddenly make a $1600 laptop "budget friendly" lol. Only bother replying when you've done some research.

@pennypincher98: I thought we were living in 2021. Where 0.8% is the quarterly inflation rate. i.e. 4 times higher than in 2020 (around 3% annually). And that's the "official" number. Anyone that has done groceries, refuel their car or went to bunnings in the last 12 months, knows that most of the prices jumped by at least 10%.

              • @ocdguy: 2021 hasn't concluded yet, in case you haven't realised and thus a annual inflation rate isn't available. 3% is around the target anyway, which corresponds roughly to wage growth.

Anyone that has done groceries, refuel their car or went to bunnings in the last 12 months, knows that most of the prices jumped by at least 10%.

You seem to not know what inflation means. Fuel was at a very low price due to little demand and large supply. Same with renting. Now the demand is back, it pushes price up. Basic economics.

                • @pennypincher98: Sure buddy there is no inflation. I'll leave you to it :)

                  • @ocdguy: Didn't say no inflation, but yes 'leaving me to it' is a good idea before you get yourself even more confused because this all seems new information to you :)

The 3060 laptop version has such a massive performance leap over the 3050-ti and 3050, it makes absolutely no sense to purchase the later. An extra $230 for the G15 would be ~70% more FPS than this "budget" laptop.
Send it back OP, you've been ripped off.

Edit: The Nitro 5 with a 3060 is cheaper than this lol…

      yes l, bought my Nitro 5 for $1149 with a 3060

This nitro is the ryzen variety. Not on special but better than this laptop.

Op I'm curious, when you were tossing up between all those models exactly what were you evaluating? Their colour?

  • +1

    definitely not cheap

Anything with a 3050 can barely be called a ""Gaming Laptop"

    • Whoa I did say "barely" I didn't say it couldn't LoL

  • +1

sorry but i have never heard of this brand as a player in gaming laptops. why would you choose this over those big (yeah yeah arguably reputable sometimes) brands?

chances are this is just a rebadged Clevo?

this is like saying pass on a Toyota, and going with a Dacia ….

a bit of googling….https://www.infinitygaming.com.au/ yeah…it does look like just rebadged laptops, funny how all the model numbers ends with -888 ;)

    • yep indeed it's a Clevo design

to give them credit, they usually do thermals right. but look ugly AF and best of luck with the warranty

Gigabyte 3060 G5 is also a Clevo design, a bit dated even (but good thermals again), and not much more expensive

still after so many Acer 3060 deals this is all too expensive

  • at any rate, why would anyone shop for a laptop now is a mystery

click frenzy is in a week, and black friday shortly after
