[Unobtainable Deal] Extra $15 off (or 98% off Items < $15) e.g. Ethernet Cable $0.07 Delivered (OOS) @ Harris Technology eBay

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Greetings everyone, not exactly sure why but as identified in the Ryzen 9 Deal, it seems as though Harris Technology have a coupon which automatically applies on their store which is $15 off with no minimum spend.

However for items under $15, the discount is 98%, therefore there are items such as ethernet cables which are $0.07 delivered. But for items over $15, it applies the full $15 discount.

NOTE: For eBay Plus members, the eBay Plus express shipping comes up as default, make sure to remove this at checkout and change it to free normal shipping otherwise it will charge $15 delivery.

As always, enjoy :)

Email from HT 7/11:

Dear Customer,

We are writing to you to advise you that a mistake was made by one of our staff members when offering an eBay coupon to one individual customer on 3 November.

We value you as a customer, and will offer you a coupon of $15 for a minimum spend of $100. We hope this good-will gesture is satisfactory to you and we look forward to servicing you again soon.

Don’t worry, I’m sure any loss would be made up by the exorbitant rip-off prices they’ve set on graphics cards at both their eBay and Amazon stores. Some examples:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/ASUS-Graphics-DisplayPort-Military...

      https://www.amazon.com.au/GIGABYTE-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N3090...

      https://www.amazon.com.au/GeForce-RTXTM-3090-Gaming-Trio/dp/...

      prob took a profit loss

Are you for real with the TA's on here ordering 20c- 30c total cost items they are taking a massive loss if they fulfil the orders .

With their rating being high 99.3% it probably in their interests to take the loss rather than have any effect on it .
That is for their Operational Manager looking at the thread hehe :)

      • +1

        Lol for their Operational Manager….
If you look at their ratings they only have 15k ratings which contribute to their 99% score.

If we take every click on the link from Ozb which is around 10k clicks. If every one of those use the code, that would be over 10k orders.

If they cancel 10k orders and they all provide negative feedback, then it would massively tank their score by half and drop their rating to 50%.

  • I have not received item shipped email neither my eBay app shows "sent" when I got to purchase tab on eBay app. However when I click on the order in purchase section a new page appears which says "shipped" … What does means?

I purchased two separate items with coupon code

  • Received a dispatch email for an 8 port switch…

  • +1

They've honoured my order. Not showing up marked on eBay as shipped, but I got a separate email with a tracking number.

  • Mine shipped too. Surprised by this lol

  • I got shipping notifications too. But I also received an automated apology email from ebay with a $5 gift card. Here's a snippet:

we’re sorry about your recent experience

It came to our attention that one of our previous selling promotions that you participated in didn't work. We completely understand how frustrating this can be, which is why we're focused on improving the experience for all eBay sellers.

Our team has been listening carefully to our seller community about what needs to change and we’re working hard to make improvements.

In an effort to make it up to you, we're offering you a $5* eBay Gift Card.

    • +1

No shipping confirmation received but I just got that too and had no idea what it was about, so must have been for this deal. Guessing there may be cancellations coming soon otherwise but not bad for a free gift card.

      • +1

I would have preferred receiving the 40 fly swatters I ordered, but $5 is also good too!

      • No shipping or gift card for me :(

      • +1

Do both of you sell stuff on eBay ? It could be from
When the free gumtree-eBay promo didn’t work ?
        Because it says (Selling Promotion)

        • +1

Oh, hey you're right it was related to a ebay not crediting a gumtree sale.

          • @cd-v: They haven't credited sales from other promos previously too, like the 5 free listings one.

    • got this too on 2 accounts, still no shipping nor cancellation from HT

Please note: this coupon is valid from 6-November-21 until 5-December-21.

    • +2

oh no, RIP their feedback page. Party's over people. Pack it up : ( Good on Harris Technology for throwing an intern under the proverbial bus and admitting fault though. Instead of accusing the OzB community for "hacking".

      • +12

No, their excuse about the original code was intended for one person and got leaked onto Ozbargain is an absolutely big pile of BS. The original code was advertised on the HT ebay store in the first place with an expiry of March 2022. In addition, the code automatically applied at check out.

        • +1

Yea its all BS. Basically a bait and switch. Fake a coupon to hook everyone in then cancel all the orders and telling them to now spend more if they want the discount.

    • What did you buy?

      • lots of fly swatters as xmas gifts lmao

    • +6

Due to inexperience, the $15 coupon was made public and was shared across Ozbargain

I guess HARRISTECH-15 will now be shared across Ozbargain too

I also smell BS. The original coupon was advertised on their HT ebay page and automatically applied at checkout. It had nothing to do with Ozbargain. How dare they!

    • +2

Such lies IMO. If it was made for 1 person, that would not go through the process of applying a universal code to every product and it needs to go through a code process. No way the code was meant for an individual. Plus the code name is pretty generic. If it was meant for 1 person, usually it's a unique code.

Just for this lie, if I don't get my item, Im leaving negative feedback. I don't care if they don't honour it and refund me (I wouldn't have left any feedback).

But companies that lie and back pedal are scum in my books.

    • +6

      I don't buy that story.

My guess is that DISCOUNT15A was supposed to have a minimum spend of $100, but I remember the description instead stated that the maximum discount was $100 (which was quite weird, since it obviously applied a $15 discount for items over $15).

      • +3

I'm not irate that they're not honouring the discount to everyone. I'm ticked off cause they're lying to individuals about the code.

And to make matters worse, they know it's from ozbargain, didn't they think that their email PR stunt wouldn't be copied and pasted on the forums?

Be honest and just state the terms and conditions were not met and was incorrectly coded in eBay incorrectly IF the minimum spend is $100.

They had 2 choices, honour the purchases or not honour it and be honest about the code and conditions not met.

        • +2

I'm not irate (at this stage anyway). They stuffed up, and mistakes happen. It could have been worse for HT… they could have made a massive blunder like the very expensive one Bunnings made!

Maybe we're wrong and DISCOUNT15A really was intended to be for one customer, but it would take a lot of convincing before I'd start believing that.

I will get irate and leave them a negative review if (and only if) they use an unrelated reason (e.g. "an issue with the buyer's address") to cancel my order (similar to the shenanigans pulled by Adidas a while ago). HT haven't cancelled my order yet, they haven't shipped my order yet, and they haven't sent me any communications, so I guess we'll see what happens with my order, but I wasn't overly hopeful I would receive my order…

I also wonder whether they'll have the keys for the ESET security software cancelled by flagging the keys with ESET…

          • +7

@WookieMonster: Seriously, how likely was DISCOUNT15A really intended to be for one customer when they themselves had advertised the same code on their ebay store with an expiry of March 2022, which also automatically applied at checkout. Pretty unreasonable to conveniently put the blame on Ozbargain for sharing the code when they themselves had advertised it on their ebay store.

Blaming this debacle due to inexperience is one thing, but how inexperienced would you have to be to have also advertised it as a store-wide code. Was it really inexperience, or just simply miscommunication internally?

One thing is clear, they have plenty of experience in lying to their customers and price jacking!

            • +4

@Ebaygiftcards: Well soon they will learn that Ozbargainers dont lie and will feel the full force of all our negative feedbacks.

They should learn the the first thing of hospitality and retail…. the customer is ALWAYS right.

And dont treat their customers as if they are dumb with such a unbelievable excuse. If it was a typo how did it have all the t&Cs and applied to all products. Seems like ALOT of work just for 1 customer than to just generate a single use ebay code with that value for that single customer.

              • @lplau: Initially have no intention to leave -ve feedback. But now, I am in to leave a negative feedback… The email is full of BS and definitely a lie.

Would rather they just not fulfill order, being a genuine mistake instead of making up story "We are writing to you to advise you that a mistake was made by one of our staff members when offering an eBay coupon to one individual customer on 3 November."

    • +3

How kind of them with the $15 for a minimum spend of $100.
With the store full of overpriced rubbish no one will use it .
Even if it was $50 off $100 spend no one would use it .
Its actually insulting trying to make profits from a mistake with this proposition and I think everyone knows what this store deserves .

      • +1

Dunno they have some pretty good CPU, mobo and AIOs.

  • Aust Post has my item so I'm one of the lucky ones.

    • What did you get

      • +2

        External DVD burner.
Came down from $38 to $23 so was probably still some profit in it.

  • +3

Have not received any emails regarding shipping or cancellation.
    Not sure what's going on…

    • Probably getting a media release ready for its shareholders as it share price dropped 6% on Friday.

  • Received a tracking number the other night - glad that I actually bought something I needed

  • Still nothing here, no further communication as to a cancellation, apology, gift card/credit or postage details.

Damn how much did you guys order?

  • +5

Just had an email cancelling all orders and offering a useless $15 voucher with $100 min spend.

    RIP their eBay feedback.

Funny they should say that. Whilst the code looks like it’s unique, they’ve sent the same code to everyone. Bunch of morons.

      Time to drop some negs

  • Got this:

  • Negging time.

  • +1

Got same email too. We should all lodge complaints to ebay.

    • Im ok with the cancellation. But not ok with the unbelieveable excuse.

Obviously they can create 1 use codes as they have when they sent out the cancellation, therefore why did they not do that for that 'indivudual customer' and create a whole new ebay promotion page with t&c and added all products to it….

I urge everybody to post negative feedback for their blatant lies not because they cancelled our orders!

      • +1

It looks like the person who created the first code wasn't aware that it wasn't a single-use code due to inexperience. I can believe that.

        • He had all the time to write the T&C page too? And why was it plastered all over their items not a 'private' link?

Somebody forgot to put into T&C about the spending limit. Probably the team lead forgot but decided to throw their junior under the bus so they dont get the blame.

          • +1

@lplau: True, I forgot that there was a banner. Looks like someone forgot to enable the spending limit.

    • Yep

    • -2

And what will that achieve? They have every legal right to cancel because of price errors.

      • And we have our rights to post negative feedback because it was a bad experience with the order that has led to it.

  • Also received the same cancellation email as others above. The coupon code they provided is generic and should be the same for everyone, by the way.

  • +4

$15 off a $100 spend?! Wtf sort of an apology is that.

    • +4

They didn't have to give anything at all.

      • Well surely neg their eBay store then ! They didn’t honour their codes. Now got my email and are emailing me with a code ? Unethical you would say ?

        • You'd rather them lose a shit load of money? Clearly.

          • @Clear: Honestly they had put up the code on eBay store. I didn’t even have to type the code. Plus I got 4 puts that usually cost 20 for 5 aud ! Nothing like a loot

            • @glenfernandes: Either they forgot to set a limit or forgot to set the minimum spend. Either way anyone who has been around here for a while knows this is going to happen.

              • @Clear: I work with way too many teflon pans at work…. i absolutely hate when people decide to throw their juniors under the bus because of their own incompetence.

I would rather the lead simply say opps we forgot the spending limit than to make up some BS story which nobody will believe.

      • +1

The "good-will gesture" looks to be just the original promo (error being min spend of $100 was not applied)
I understand if they can't fulfill hundreds of orders at a loss but I feel that trying to present the original promo as a "good-will gesture" is dishonest

  • Nothing on my end either. Checked listings for orders of an extension cord and playing cards I made and both have curiously been restocked, so I think it's safe to say the party is over. The ones that got in as soon as the deal was posted were probably the lucky ones.

Edit: Got the email, too. Time to hit up ebay chat.

    • +1

Lmao what are you gonna say

  • +2

Wonder how long before we receive the refunds?

  • +1

Just got a cancellation email. What a load of BS.

  • Very borderline bait and switch…. hope everyone doenst go soft and negative feedback the hell out of them for lying to us.

  • I paid using a giftcard. Does the amount get refunded to gc?

    • +1

      Goodluck

    • Depends, I use an Only1 visa card and I was able to receive refunds from Aliexpress and eBay. JB HI-FI wasn't able to refund and offered a coupon or a bank transfer. Took the coupon coz ceebs a bank transfer.

      • Don’t really want their credit to be honest. Everything is overpriced on their store.

    • If you complain to eBay about the inconvenience I'm sure they'll give you something in compensation too

  • I got apology email with dodgy $15 discount on $100 spend… Lol.

Their prices are so high that even after discount I am sure they would have made money….!

Did anyone got refund on PayPal? As I haven't received any refund on PayPal yet.

    • +1

I received the email, but the order in ebay was not cancelled yet :))

      • Yep, that's all i want out of this, if they don't wanna ship on a mistake fine, but not giving refunds is BS

        • +1

The email said: "the orders will be cancelled".

          Not sure when "will" is!

          • +2

@taron: 1 million dollars on the reason being: "Buyer requested cancel"

            • @dbmitch: you probably right, they first issue the email saying we can't fulfil and then didn't pay the refund which will tempt many buyers to cancel the ordre on ebay which will help them relieving their responsibility.

i won't be cancelling order at all, just going to wait as i have their email that they are going to cancel so i will lodge complain on ebay next week on friday for not receiving refund and then leave negative feedback as they tried to be smart xxx then we need to respond accordingly.

              • @SydBoy: Lol, they said buyers address was wrong.

Yeah, good ebay lies, why can't they just be honest?

  • I love how they're playing the blame game and shifting all of this to a single employee rather than themselves. Is this really an apology at all?

  • Has anyone even received any item?

  • +1

Have started getting cancellation email saying it was a error from an employee ! Load of crap

  • +1

Is the new code (ending with TCL) the same for everyone?

  • The dispatched ones are those iteams they still somehow make profit with, for sure.
