I believe this kit isn't normally available in Australian stores, but it's shipping from Sydney so quick delivery!

It's fine if all you want is an edger.

The problem is if you want the hedge trimmer or chainsaw, plus the pole extension, it's $$$. Because they can't be found cheap. Suddenly it's the same cost as buying the full RRP kit anyway.

    • +1

Yep, definitely think about what you want. For me it’s just the edger and line trimmer so this will workout to be cheapest. ($199 for line trimmer)

      • +1

Line trimmer attachment often comes up on Amazon at sub $160 too. As does the LB4800 leaf blower and stand-alone hedger.

This is the first time the multi- and edger have come up for more than half a year. Outstanding price, unless you the extension pole and extended hedge trimmer or chainsaw, in which case wait for their bundle deals. Different ball park at $750 though…

Ego have just relaunched their Multi + Extension pole + Pole saw + hedge trimmer promo for $749 as of today. That's a $269 saving on retail and is good as the price has been in the past two years. Also comes with a free 2.5Ah battery by redemption if you spend over $800 during the Buzz is Back promo up until Dec 31. www.facebook.com/egopowerplus.au/photos/pcb.4861934973831375…

Possibly a better deal if you need the edger/pole saw or battery, but for anyone after an edger and already in the ecosystem, $238 is a super price for a great bit of kit. By comparison, the Ryobi 36v edger is $399 for just the skin - www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-36v-li-ion-cordless-edger-skin-onl… Whilst it certainly does a respectable job - in terms of build quality it feels like a toy compared to this Ego unit, which can also be used for other attachments.

Also worth noting is their b@ll-tearingly good flagship LM2135 self-propelled mower is on special for the first time ever since it's launch just over 12 months ago (and also qualifies for the battery redemption) at $1,149, but with a free LB5300 leaf blower, normally worth $249. That's a lot of quality kit for the money and is worthy of a posting of it's own.

  • Why is Camel saying it's been $206 since Feb?

    • I checked a few weeks ago and it wasn’t available on Amazon AU or UK, so not sure?

      • Has been out of stock on Amazon for most of the year but for a couple days in Feb. I bought one back then and have been checking every other day to buy another one for the old man.

  • Battery?

    • +1

      Skin means no battery

  • -5

Made in China. Skin only. Brushless motor. No deal for me as I want battery and charger as well. Wait for a Xmas / Black Friday deals.

    • +2

      You'd prefer a brushed motor?

Powerhead plus edger is not available for retail sale in Australia - and buying them separately will cost more than twice this on Christmas or Black Friday.

Ego is not for everyone. Ozito make great value tools which are a better fit and budget for many people…

I bought an EGO edger and a trimmer from Amazon a few months ago and was surprised to find out that they are not covered by the 5 year EGO warranty.

Even though EGO items are shipped by Amazon Australia, they have US serial numbers and the local EGO dealer here in Aus won’t cover them.

Should you have any warranty issues you will have to deal with Amazon directly which might be ok but who knows if they will honor the 5 years advertised on the product page.

    • Thanks for the heads up!

    • I registered fine by changing the prefix from the North American model to the Australian (ANAxxxx to ABAxxxx from memory).

Granted, I've never had to make a warranty claim yet, but it allowed me to register it fine, and I'm happy to run the gauntlet of escalating to fairtrading - or facebook - or Amazon themself - if they sought to avoid warranty commitments because I'd bought it through Amazon's retail channel.

That said, Ego is damned good gear, and at this price, the edger is a steal. The multi power head retails for $299 and the edger attachment is $199. Despite adding other Ego yard tools and other bits to my multi power-head system, it is my most used accessory, apart from the mower itself.

Laser lined edges in less than half the time of a line trimmer. Highly recommended. Thanks OP!

  • can you edge with a whipper snipper

    • +1

you can clean up an edge but not really establish a clean edge

      • +1

        Yes you can.
It won't look as good as an edger, but it can definitely still look clean.

    • +1

Yes, you can even mow the lawn with it. But if you want the right tool for the job an edger does do a better job of it.

    • I thought I could until I bought this dedicated edger.

Amazing, fast, powerful and great build quality, with clean straight trenches in a fraction of the time.

  • Did I really need an edger? Probably not. Did I buy this because of Ozbargain - most definitely! Makes sense given I'm already in the eco system and have the batteries.

  • Bought one, thank you

  • Thanks - just bought one as well.

  • All gone
