AMD Ryzen 9 5900X CPU & Gigabyte AMD X570 AORUS ULTRA WIFI Motherboard Combo $989 Delivered @ Shopping Express

480

Building on the 10% off sitewide deal;

Since motherboards don't come up that often and this one (fairly decent motherboard imo), at cheapest price was $369, CPU works out to be $629 which is the cheapest it has been I believe without using Klarna.

Was free shipping as well for me.

First post, hope I did alright…

Edit:
The 5950x bundle, with the 10% off brings the CPU down to basically $944.10 after taking the best price the motherboard has been in the past ($360)

  • this is a great deal if you're wanting the cutting edge of AMD today.

  • Nice one OP…. but oh how it wish it was a 5950x combo with this bundle price instead… who knows.. black friday may give us a surprise to compete against Intels new 12900 series

    • Actually, now that you mention it, I calculated it (taking away the best price the motherboard has been $360), the 5950x basically gives you the CPU for $944.10 which is a very good deal!

      • +1

Should edit your post OP; this board has been a fair bit lower than $360 previously (and also currently better than that now), at least on eBay, e.g. https://www.ebay.com.au/bin/purchaseHistory?item=40277182193… (and those $329 prices may well have been stacked with a nice coupon code to bring it under $300).

So at this price the 5900x would work out to be around the same as the $680-$700 deal prices earlier this year, which is still good.

With the new intel cpus, amd cpus should come down in price in the following months.

  • Holy shit this is a great deal.

  • Faster and $80 cheaper than a Intel 12700kf and motherboard

    • +1

Not really faster, 12700KF is faster in most areas, but the difference is probably negligible anyway

  • Very good price. Paid $1015 including credit card surcharge just for CPU in feb but glad I bought it on 28 degrees.

Does anyone know if Gigabyte have fixed the USB issues with their x570 Ultra motherboards?

    • +1

I've got an X570 aorus ultra purchased late June with the latest bios update as of then and have had no usb issues at all

    • What issues are experienced? I've been running a Gigabyte x570 aorus for about a year haven't detected any USB problems.

Why these hardware are so expensive in Australia? 5900x + b550m mortar wifi is around $668 in China with 1111 discount. $951 12700kf + z690 tug gaming wifi. Basically each bundle is $300 more.

    • Don't know the Chinese market, but I'd say you'd have to give at least $100 credit, probably more, for the X570 Aorus wifi over a B550M (whether you want the upgrade or not is a different question). Then GST is a likely factor (10% included in the price) so ($668 + 100) * 1.1 = 844.8. Not as wildly different as $989. Probably need higher absolute margins here to operate a business and other factors too.

      • +1

Fair enough. Paying $40k a year income tax and still need to pay gst for most of stuff purchased, that really sucks!!! Especially comparing to US.

        • +2

In USA you still have to pay sales tax, but it's calculated afterwards and sometimes can be avoided. We might pay a little bit more income tax here, but at least we don't have to pay it to both the state and the country. Besides it's worth paying more tax to make this a better country :)

          • @wileywopey: Better to pay tax upfront so that you get medical care in the later years. I know things may change in the future (because nothing is certain) but Medicare has been here strong for years. Also Australia is a higher income generating nation and has higher spending power.

    • Extra $300 is the oneway ticket for the package flying from China to Australia.

      • au.4px.com (offer service to customer who read in Chinese only) offers air shipping from China Taobao to your door $18 (first 500gram) + $8 * N ( N times 500g), or on a ship for $11 (first 500g) + $3 * N (n times 500g)
$300 more to buy it local only means better warranty(so you don't need to ship it overseas) and that's it.

        • This is the service I use. Lol

        • modern CPU is very tough and hard to die. $300 is enough to buy two more mother boards.

  • This or go intel 12700kf? I've heard Zen refresh early next year too?

    • +1

12700kf should be better for most uses. Single core speed is significantly better, multicore speed around the same

    • +1

      Whichever is better price/performance wise

    • +1

I think answer is highly dependent on socket lifecycle. Do we know how committed is Intel on the LGA1700 platform? In an opinion video by Hardware Unboxed, they said it was likely going to be a single generation platform. Whereas with AMD, Zen 3D 'might' use AM4 socket one more round before Zen 4 moving to AM5 socket. Given the performance difference between Intel 12th Gen and AMD 5000-series aren't much, it is better to go with one that has a clear upgrade path especially if you upgrade all the time. Of course if have the cash for it, then this doesn't matter at all. Zen 3D is 'rumoured' to give 15% performance uplift so AMD may be ahead again. Would be great if it supports AM4. Even if it does not and AMD moves to AM5, you still have a clear path with Zen 4 onwards. There's also news that AM4 coolers will be mechanically compatible with AM5 sockets so you get to reuse your current thermal solution assuming there isn't a big change in TDP.

      TLDR: watch and see.

  • Bought. This is an excellent find OP

  • why do $300 amd board have to come with gigabit but $120 intel boards have 2.5G…
