$99 Telstra Mobile Plan with 200GB Data on a 12-Month Contract, $30 Monthly Credit & Bonus $400 Gift Card @ JB Hi-Fi in-Store

330

Not sure if nation wide or VIC only.
An update/variation to this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/660118

Have just ported to Telstra this morning (Melbourne CBD Store) and found out Telstra has updated this deal snd reduce the giftcard to $400 (instead of $500) but you get 200GB instead of 150GB.

The deal shown on staff’s portal still say 150GB , but PDS and my contract papers shown has been updated to 200GB (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0024/9803/5810/files/JB-Hi…)

$99 a month - $30 credit for 12 months
200GB of data with no excess data charges (capped speeds)
5g availability
12 month contract
$400 gift card. (No expiry)

Effectively $69 a month
Minimum total cost over 12 months is $828

$828-400=428
$328/12 = $35.6 a month

    • Just dropped to $300 gift card.

      • yep deal is over, they have dropped it. Guess it was a typo lmao

Deal is marked expired. Thanks for playing, friends.

    • And boost prepaid users don’t qualify as previous deals is that right??

      • +1

Boost and belong is not counted as new customer. Need to totally go away to another provider for a billable month. Ymmv some people say if you have no active services (eg internet), jb staff can sign you up anyway without serving the min term out of telstra

        • My JB Hi-Fi contract expired yesterday, in your experience, what are my best options to port out for a month (or more) and then port-in when something good comes out??

    • Ported out to Vodafone prepaid over the weekend in anticipation of Black Friday

Do we think this will work to rejoin?

      • +1

        30 days

        • +1

Lets hope Boxing Day is the one to go for then haha

        • is the 30 days thing still a thing though? heard on the forum it is hit and miss

          • @hashiebrownie: 1 billing cycle as far as whirlpool/ozbargain comments suggest. Ask jb if you want it straight from the source.

    • Maybe better deal on black friday

    • +1

Worth adding that JB plans don't offer data sharing so you can't have your smartphone, tablet and laptop using data from this plan unless you hotspot from your phone. Getting a post paid plan directly through Telstra will get you data sharing which us annoying as they never offer gift cards with their plans

      • unless you're hotspotting how are you sharing your data with tablet/laptop unless you mean laptops/tablets with cellular?

    • This may well have been a sneak peek at what to expect for the black friday / boxing day deal. I'd prefer a TGG voucher instead of JB, anyone know if they are interchangeable somehow?

      • good guys sometimes does it too but at the moment no gc offer.

    • I just left Telstra from the deal last year. Worst year ever. Never going back to telstra.

      • I left Telstra just so I could churn out and churn back in after 30 days, and thought well if Optus is as good I'd probably just go with optus as it was a fair bit cheaper without stuffing around with GC. Nope, Optus still crap (for me anyway). Barely get 5g reception and even when I do it keeps swapping between 4g and 5g. My office is in a relatively industrial area and I'm sure this area is oversold on 4g with optus loop service as me and my 4 neighbours are all using loop and we all have issues with stability and data speeds but unfortunately this is the only option at the moment in area.

      • Couldnt agree more.. thy should buck up their customer service platform and SOP. even my small utility company does a better job.

    • +3

Telstra customer service is the absolute pits. They just pass you from one CS rep to another playing a game of wild goose chase because they can't solve a single thing. Currently trying to sign up for the online business portal and they keep telling me to try again after 24 hours… that's their fix.. even though i've told them repeatedly it doesn't work. Went through this same nonsense when I began my account and they decided to comp 3 months of my bills because they couldn't fix their issue.

      • I got billed 2 months in advance only 2 days after signing up to last year's postpaid plan. My phone service wasn't even active yet.

I spent countless hours on their stupid fricken messaging support app and phone calls trying to get it fixed. They just had no customer support at all. I would type my question, 2 hours later I get some bullshit response, I respond immediately… another 2 hours before they respond. Eventually you hit 5pm and they just stop responding.

I ended up raising a TIO case to get it fixed citing their complete lack of customer support as driving my inability to get the problem fixed.

I will never use Telstra again. I don't understand how their prices are so much higher than everyone but their customer support is the worst.

      • totally agree they have awful customet service. u will waste hours on the phone as they pass u between assistants in different areas who are clueless and then they will say oh we will notify u automatically when it has been dealt with…. which is never. totally hopeless, tio conplaint is the only way to get setvice

    • So now $69 plus $300 gift card. I winder if we get $10 off from Telstra…. That will be pretty decent deal $34 a month after the gift card

      • $69 + $300 is a crap deal when the benchmark is minimum $69 + 400 (which reports say can apply for $10 discount credit for 12 months). Or even better $59+ $500.

    • Does this mean you have to buy the phone outright or can you pay it off over 24 months ?

      • ? No phone included.

        • Sorry, I meant to say..

If you go for this plan with JB
Do you have to pay full price for the phone outright
Or can you include a phone and pay it off monthly
(I’ve never bought phones from JB, just Telstra)

  • Questions about the plans - If i'm currently on a JB Telstra plan & wanted to setup a new number and a plan am I eligible for the gift card or not?

  • Can someone confirm if this is true $99-$30
So it means I pay $69 a month for 12 months for 200gb sim plan.
If this is true then this is the ultimate deal as you get extra $10 off via chat and $400 gift card some said $500.

If this deal comes again need to get
