Yeah, the 6 became too hard to link to GadgetBridge or MiNotify; it almost requires the official mifit app now; so the sort of people who loved $20 'toys' of tech have lost interest.
Strong armed into an ecosystem we didnt want; we just wanted the tech.
Sort of off-topic, but wow, I did not know such a thing as Gadgetbridge existed! I've got an Amazfit Bip and have been using the MiFit app because I didn't know there was an alternative. Thanks for the post, definitely going to look into this!
For amazfit and Mi devices, you're better off with the 3rd party Mi Notify app.
But yes, if you want the bare minimum, GadgetBridge is the way to go.
That said, the BIP is just a kinda locked-down PineTime in my opinion.

Good news is that the REBEL team (the ones who redeveloped the PEBBLE interface) have openly purchased a few PINE dev kits, so we SHOULD see pebble OS on the PineTime in the future.

There's a *NEW * Global Version, and it is targeted for the European Market.
It has upgrades such as:
