  • SpO2 sensor

    How accurate is it though?

    • I'm the first to bash "smart" fitness products for idiocy like HRM with +/- 30% accuracy but from what I understand light based oxygen sensing is a lot harder to screw up.

    • Evidently not medical grade

Thanks. Not much point in upgrading then.

      • Nice video. Do you happen to know the most accurate <$100 fitbit-like device?

      • Great video thanks for sharing

    • If it isn't reading in the high 90s, you've got problems anyway.

Plus you have to manually trigger it. Not a feature worth getting excited about, tbh.

I don't know whether to buy this or wait 2 hours to get the NFC Alexa version for an extra $28

    • +1

Oh where's that from? Will the NFC work here?

      • +5

No the NFC is for Alipay etc. in China. Xiaomi were talking to Mastercard about it working with Mastercard Pay but AFAIK that was intended for Russia and maybe some parts of EU only.

        • That's unfortunate, I thought they were coming to Australia for the NFC, would of been hella useful
Thanks for the heads up might grab this deal then
          Thanks

          • +6

@Chef Freeman: Despite having an official Xiaomi presence here in Australia nothing is being made to specifically cater for Australia. Google Pay on this would be amazing.

          • @Chef Freeman: You should still wait for the *NEW * model. That's what I think.

It at least has a Hardware Microphone, and Software Upgrade with Amazon Alexa included. And it is "possible" to have Australian Payments working through either a software update (doubtful) or maybe through a Custom Firmware.

On top of that, it will have slightly updated algorithm for functions (Sleep, Oxygen, Step Counter, etc etc).

            • @Kangal: the global NFC version?
or is there another version that is coming out

              • +1

                @Chef Freeman: There's three versions:
                - The original China Model (NFC China Pay only)
                - The later released Global version (No NFC)
                - The latest European Model (Limited NFC Pay, Mic, Alexa).

Get the last one. It was released about 1 month ago, but its still limited availability. Hard to find to buy from AliExpress/GearBest to import to Australia (otherwise it's pricey/not worth it).

                • @Kangal: Brought the latest model for $73 before the 15% discount
Might as well spend the extra $20

                • @Kangal: Hey hey Kangal! How are ya? haven't bumped into you for ages!

                  • @Wystri Warrick: Not too bad. How's thing in your avenue?
I guess, when was the last time we bumped into each other?

                    • +1

                      @Kangal: Things are going alright.

I think it's been well over a year since we spoke. I always just notice you because of you MGS Snake avatar, and some years ago you were talking to a couple of people about dropbears - it was very funny and highly up voted

        • Thought so, thanks for the reply :)

  • Any sales on mi band 5?

    • -1

      I got mine for $15

      • BG snap up?

        • It was posted here earlier in the year…

          • +1

@jv: Seems I missed that post. Though I did get the 4C for $5 in that deal a while ago.

      • -1

        That's quite the bargain

        • Indeed, it is quite a bargain

  • Thanks for sharing. I've been looking too pick one of these up for a while.

14 day battery life something apple can never do

    • +2

The battery life is pure marketing expect 7-10 days.

Its 14 days if you turn off everything and you use like 5% brightness.

      • +1

Even with everything on it still lasts 7 days+.

        • +1

Mine does four maybe five days max with everything turned on. It's so easy to charge (pretty fast too) so it's not a major issue.

        • Turn on the continuous HR monitoring (the check for abnormal rhythm) and see if you get 7+ days.

          • @GTR12: I think you mean turn off. I want all the things on and I don't mind charging it often.

            • @Loopholio: Nope, turn all the features on and you won't get 14 days.

Turn everything off and use it as a watch, then you will get 14 days.

Was interested in these but then watching 'the quantified scientist' on YouTube showed me how poor the accuracy is of the health tracking.

Literally only useful as a step counter and a watch, which I suppose for $40 isn't that bad…

The buzzing alarm is great for waking you up without waking up your partner.

      • Oh yep, good call. That's a nifty feature.

    • Link??

    • Yeah I was surprised by that video (linked somewhere above).
I don't have the time to watch all his reviews but seems like you might have, which is the most accurate <$100 smartwatch?

      • Don't know actually. I don't like the idea of wearing a fitness tracker and probably going to get a Garmin watch, so I gave up looking at trackers.

You might be able to get a Fitbit charge 4 on clearance for around $100 which are accurate.

  • Bought one for $50.28 from eBay, hadn't seen a really good deal for ages, now this!

Ah well, at least it 'should' arrive in a few days not 30+.

7 day battery life doesn't sound too bad.

  • shame it does not include nfc even if price was a bit higher because of it

    • Even it includes NFC, it's usless here. Only support Alipay.

  • Cheaper than 11.11 price in China.

  • Will it arrive in time as a Christmas present?

    • +5

      Yup Christmas 2022

    • delivery is about 11th dec estimated

  • Very nice band for the price. Particularly impressed with the long battery life. Typically only have to charge 2-3 times a month!

  • Anyone got this working with Strava?

Looking for a cheap band for running as my Huawei gt2 doesn't sync with Strava (even tried the workarounds to no avail)

  • Only black left.

Can’t see where to enter code on IOS?

  • what's the next upgrade from this looking to find one less than 100

    • Nothing less than 100 if upgrade

  • +1

Just something to keep in mind:

Banggood takes quite a while to deliver. I ordered my xiaomi band 6 on 7th of Oct and expected delivery is 29th Nov. Good, reliable company but not for those that want their product soon!

  • I've got one of these and it works pretty well for the price. Originally used it to track swimming laps in the pool but otherwise not too fussed with the other features. For a step counter, watch & alarm clock on your wrist it's great.

    • interested - how does it track laps and i assume distance? is it accurate?

  • FYI

My original Mi Band 6 from Banggood $43 ish arrived in Sydney 3 weeks ago but because both Banggood and PFL Logistics / Fastway couriers are hopeless with deliveries, I've written it off as a scam. It's likely I'll never receive the original since I've have been told it's undeliverable due to incorrect address (never had issues before) with no possibility of picking the item up through their courier.

Save yourself some stress and invest a couple of dollars more ($6) for the Mi Band 6 selling via Ebay for $49 with discount.

I cannot stress how frustrating it has been to deal with Banggood and their respective courier companies in the past fortnight.

Just got confirmation the eBay one is arriving next Wednesday.

    • Discounted ebay gift cards would cover most of the difference

    • Thanks for the info. Should have check ebay first with local seller. Anyway already ordered, hopefully it will arrived.

  • Looking for a more square/rectangle face like Apple iWatch at around $50-$100. Any recommendations?
