  • Is there a link to this deal? The link provided goes to the account portal login.

  • An excellent offer indeed! Thanks for posting it. Neil, to answer your query, you need to login to your AMEX account online to sign up for this offer.
For folks who don't plan to make 20 transactions a month, there is a similar offer from AMEX -
    5,000 points for 10 transactions
Sign up at americanexpress.com.au/mybonus ; code: mybonus

  • Does this work with all AMEX cards? I don't have one yet but with a points deal like that I'd be inclined to get one.

  • Where does it say about the offer? I am an AMEX member - I haven't received any such mails with offers!

  • i am an amex member as well, i just checked and there is no such offer. can you guys kindly clarify.

  • I've logged in as well, don't see anything?

    edit works now..

this seems to good to be true now that I do the math?

  • Ok I've worked out how.

    Go to

    americanexpress.com.au/mybonus

    And use
    'earnpoints'

    as the code.

    Winner

Thank you. You are now registered for the promotion listed below

You are now registered to receive 10,000 Membership Rewards™ Bonus Points for every 20 transactions you make each month from 1 September to 31 December 2008, with no limit to the Bonus Points you can earn

Does it have to be the merchants listed on the amexnetwork.com.au/merchantmap

Or can it be any place that takes AMEX (Online retailers)

This actually sounds too good to be true…

  • how did you do that david?

i cant seem to do it myself.

  • I think it depends on what type of card(s) you have. I just have the Qantas Amex, and it doesn't let me do it. Which makes sense since you earn miles, not points (although that fact isn't particularly clear either!).

  • ok, that makes sense. i have the qantas amex as well. thanks.

  • i hv to register to comment on this deal. it rocks (at least from what we know so far)
as someone pointed out before use "mybonus" instead of "earnpoints" you will get 5,000 points for every 10 transactions, which is better 'cause you get points for 10-19 transactions and no limit on bonus points.
now, before we get too excited, can someone find us the URL to the terms and conditions for this offer? its always the small prints that bite.
also, i will print the "Thank You" page out for future reference in case of dispute.

  • Thanks!

I've just signed up as i use my AMEX religiously as my points can be used for other FF clubs instead of just Qantas

I highly doubt it, but i hope transactions can get backdated, as i've racked up more that 20 transactions for this 1/2 month already :)

  • Great deal!!! I wonder why they didn't tell all members :)
I always use my Amex card.
This is way too good to be true….
Think about it, if you shop at Coles or Safeway and sign a pack of chewies 10 times, that's 5,000 points ;) Hehe…

Or, break up your grocery basket at Coles/Safeway to $30 per basket so you get additional petrol vouchers and also additional transactions for your Amex car ;) So, $60 on grocery = 2 $0.04 cent off petrol vouchers, and two transactions for your Amex….etc

    • Or find places online that let you put $0.01 transactions through on your AMEX. :D

I have to find out whether these are valid or not.

  • Cool, maybe the points will offset all the extra surcharges the stupid card has ;)

    • I'm on an Annual Fee Gold Amex so I don't think its worth a negative idiot.

  • I received a promotional card yesterday stating that for every 5 transactions I do, I get 5000 points. There was no need to sign up to anything though??

    • bebe, was there an "opt-in code" like earnpoints, mybonus etc on the promotional card you received?

  • hmmmm.. i was able to create an account but can't register my card.. it's an amex from westpac..

  • just signed up for this
it's only valid for certain merchant
    visit http://amexnetwork.com.au/merchantmap/

    • This is only a guide though isn't it?

Or do they specifically have to be on this list to qualify?

  • I've just checked it out, and most of the stores in my local area is on that list/map (inc woolies/coles etc..) so it would be easy to rack up the transactions in doing everyday purchasing including at the post office

  • http://amexnetwork.com.au/merchantmap/ is only a guide to what shops accept AE. Any transactions qualify.

But for a better deal, see the 5000 points for 5 transaction one I posted.

  • Better still - put both the codes in, and earn points both ways!

    • can you earn points both ways??? can some1 confirm?

      • The site let me sign up for both. You are always able to use multiple opt in codes for other deals, so I don't see why it wouldn't work? I got confirmation on both of them - although they might pick up on this and only give credit for one…..

  • http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/attachments/americ… is a scan of the postcard for this offer.

  • This might be a stupid question BUT…

I have a national australia bank (NAB) credit card that has an amex logo on the front and uses the amex system to earn points (that are used via the virginblue velocity program)

can i sign up my existing NAB/Amex card to this deal??
    and how exactly??

sorry i'm pathetic with stuff like this

  • Another Amex newbie question: How much approximately can we claim for 10000 points? For example, it's about $100 dollars for 20000 points with Commbank award.

    • 6750 points = $50 generally

There are some bargains to be had which will get you more, but gift voucher-wise that's how it works out.

  • Great deal - what is the best way to apply for a card with zero annual fee that I can use with this promo?

  • Hi,

This thread has been quiet for a bit.

However it appears that Amex is renegging on this offer.

It appears that even if you registered that a 10,000 per month cap is now applied to everyone if you were not directly mailed the offer.

    Is that others experience too?
