Hi Guys, First time poster I’m sorry if I’ve made mistakes. I’ve tried to do my best. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not sure if it’s the cheapest deal but it’s defiantly cheaper then the recent deals I’ve seen for this product.

Edit: looks like it’s the lowest price it’s been thanks to @shabaka for the help!

Edit: seems to be in backorder not sure how long it will last be quick!

Thank you to everyone for the kind words. I’m glad I could help a community that’s helped so many!

        • No, the m.2 in the WD is a SATA based SSD
The Asus ROG enclosure only works on NVMe m.2 drives

          • @FireRunner: some comments in that post suggest its a nvme ssd..

            • @plal: Opened up the 500GB version, it was definitely SATA m.2

  • Bought this for full price around 8 months ago.

    Great unit!

  • I probably paid a bit more with postage, but got this at umart: Simplecom SE522 NVMe SATA M.2 SSD to Dual-USB Enclosure for $49 vs ROG Strix $79.

      dOeS iT HavE rGb tho?

      • Would this device work in either of these external cases?

512GB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro PCIe M.2 SSD Drive ASX8200PNP-512GT-C

I know it says nvme and sata compatible, but this device is pcie.

        Thanks anyone helping

I would advise against purchasing enclosures with the male USB connector built into them, that's usually the first part to go in a device like this (accidentally bending it etc).

Female connectors are the way to go, it's cheaper to replace the cable than the whole enclosure.

      • That's good advice, I wish this had deal had been posted a few days ago :(

These are ridiculously expensive… does it have to do anything more complex than a 2.5' SATA enclosure?

At least the Asus one should last a lifetime. The Simplecom does have both Type A and Type C connectors, so at least I'll get a 2nd chance.

      • Also the enclosure is quite long so you could potentially apply some serious torque if bumped the wrong way which could damage the enclosure and/or the computer's port

  • Ahhh. I was initially going to ask whether there is something special about this Asus one. Now I understand.:)

  • Wanted to find get this to work with a 2TB Crucial P5 NVMe
    Wasn't working, official response

Why can’t my Micron P5 SSD be detected?
Due to technical limitations, ROG Strix Arion currently does not support Micron P5 SSD.

    RIP me

  • anyone tried these with an 8tb nvme?
