Absolute bargain, have been using this for over a year. I prefer it over much more expensive mice, that thumb rest is so nice (I always hated that my thumb scrapped on the mouse pad sometimes, and has not happened once since owning this mouse).

    • I find it so interesting that some people love the thumb rest on these kinds of mice. I absolutely hate it. I have pretty large hands, and it's probably the way I grip the mouse, but the only mouse design I find particularly comfortable is something like the Razer Deathadder (though I wanna try the Zowie for big hands).

I even have an MX Master 3 Advanced and I find them borderline unusable because of the thumb rest. It's obviously nothing more than personal preference of course, and nothing to do with this mouse.

Great mouse. Hyperspeed is noticeably more responsive than Bluetooth. I only use Hyperspeed now.

    Single AA battery.

I bought my mouse from Amazon on the 16th of September, 2021.

Just got the low battery warning yesterday.

    • Hey, do you know if it's still responsive if not using drivers? ie. 1000 Hz polling by default? It should mean Hyperspeed feels like it should and not Bluetooth.

Want to use this on a work computer locked down like Fort knox. I know DPI can be stored on board.

      • Answering my own question - it's 1000 Hz over USB by default. Happy with it, although it's surprisingly light.

    • +4

Two months isn’t that impressive tbh

      • That's the cost of Hyperspeed.

        • But I want ludicrous speed!

        • I've been using mine since june 2020 for work with bluetooth and recently dongle on windows. Probably swapped the battery 3-4 times.

Great timing op.. bought it an hour back at $59. Cancelled and reordered, saved me $14

  • +4

Logitech G305 is also $45 on Amazon.

    • Was wondering how this compares to that. This looks a bit more comfortable to use.

      • +8

I have both right now. My wife uses Basilisk X, I use G305. I think the comfort depends on how you hold your mouse.

Basilisk X is bigger and heavier than G305. If you hold your mouse with the palm on the body of the mouse, I think Basilisk X would be much better?

        • Thanks for the comment.

Currently i use the Viper Mini which i believe is much more lighter.

I do rest my palm on the mouse, thumb typically drags on the mousepad from the side, so overall it is quite small. The Basilisk's design seems to help with all of those things.

    • bought the g305 2 days ago, yet to arrive a shipping notification.

Might cancel the order and get this one instead

      • g305 much better if your not a palm gripper, claw and fingertip will love it much more.

    • got a link? showing as $79 for me :(

    • Damn white is not $45…Sad!

  • Just need a full size mouse, preferably with long battery life for home office. No gaming, don’t really need extra mappable keys.

Is this a good choice or are there cheaper ones that will be just fine? THANK YOU!

    • I bought one of these for use in the office last week and I'm loving it. Get it, you won't regret it!

    • +1

For office use I like Logitech’s free spin wheels for getting through large documents quickly and would recommend the M720 Triathlon as a cheap option.

      Currently $59.

Love this mouse, grabbed another at this price, thanks op

I returned this item. It often falls asleep or loses connection. A firmware update didn't help.

    • What did you get then?

      • +15

        Money back.

    • I have the same problem with losing connection but still really like the comfort of this mouse

  • +1

Uhoh, Ozbargain is making me spend all my dollary doos! Been following this mouse for a while, bought!

  • +1

    Thanks op bought

  • I knew there was a reason why I was still awake at 3.30am in the morning…

Bought! Good timing as well, considering my old and trusty Logitech mx620 has been suffering a double-click issue with the left button for the last fortnight. I went this over the Logitech G305 (which was quoted to be similarly specced) only because the shape is similar to my existing mouse.

  • Used this mouse for around a year as my first wireless mouse and for this price it’s worth it 100%. Weight is a bit on the heavier side for gaming but for all round use it’s a no brainer with comfort and long battery life on a single AA battery. Since upgraded to gpx and it mainly gets used by my housemate now but it sure is a workhorse

  • This vs G502?

    • G502 but it costs more than 3x that this does. It's not 3x as good though and this is the better bargain.

  • +1

I have a G603 at home and MX master 3 advanced in office. But after using the scroll wheel of the master, I think I will save my 45 bux and buy another advanced for home. That wheel is a game changer despite how heavy the mouse is.

    • +1

      AGREE!!
the mx3 electro-magnetic wheel is brilliant! I have both 305 and mx3, mx3 is great in the office and wheeling around…. and previou design of switch free wheel/click wheel mode is no longer required!
305 is light, and easy to move fast, still use it in the game, if that one can get a better wheel and bit firmer right button switch, it would be perfect…

      • Haha, and I wish the G603 had a better free scroll wheel. Still love the battery life on it. I have to replace the battery once in 10 months or so and I never switch it off. I hope they make the master 4 a bit lighter. I hate the fact that its so heavy, it wont even skid properly on the steel series mat I use compared to the G603.

  • This price is excellent, I have the same mouse and the battery life is incredible. It can last a year of usage with one battery which I find unbelievable considering those basic Microsoft wireless mice boast to have the same 1 year battery.

If a gaming wireless mouse can do it too, while being more comfy and more accurate, this is an absolute W for the Basilisk X

  • There are two options for this mouse - 2.4 and BT when use and I have a issue with left click.
Battery life is not great. I was playing poker online and battery is out. I lost a lot by not able to click
but it is not real money so I won't sue the maker. lol.

    • how long have u had it? I have a G402 and just got the basilisk.
Wondering if it was bad idea, should I cancel?

      • I have this for months and replace the battery three times already. At least I don't recommend this mouse.

    • Yeah, I turfed mine after getting annoyed with left click not working properly (things like would double click or not stay clicked in while holding it), there's a fair few complaints about it online too.

      • I think double clicking issue is fairly rampant on many (if not all to a varying degree) mouses that uses mechanical switches. I think all my logitech mouses that I had went through it as well.

Kinda was interested in ones that use optical switches for that reason, since opening the mouse up and replacing the switch can be bit risky and difficult (found it more difficult than say replacing a mechanical keyboard switch).

        • Mine went about 6 months in though, not a big sample size but it put me off them after googling the issue.

          • @CharlieAus: I think it's an inherent problem with all mouses that use mechanical switches. There are ones that apparently last longer, which is one of the reasons why Logitech and their Omron China switches are given a lot of bad reputations with double click issues.

Search G305 double click, logitech double click for example, you'd find similar number of results if not more.

  • Just bought. At this price it's hard to say no. Need to replace a rubbish victsing mouse at work. So this should be fine. Now to hold out for an mx master 3 deal and dump this on the Mrs. :-D

  • Not just for gaming.

I have been using this mouse for the past month now. The main reasons I bought were the Bluetooth and the fact that is has the same shape as the Logitech g502. It has great ergonomics and the battery life seems to be great (using for work and still haven't changed the battery that it came with).

    Bullet point time:
    - Long battery life
    - Lightweight
    - Good build (no noises when you squeeze it) (why would you squeezy a mouse anyway?)
    - Scroll wheel is precise
    - Works well with MAC

Bonus: no lightup Razer logo on the mouse.

  • preety ok mouse if your a unbased palm gripper. for everyone else who likes to claw grip and fingertip grip just go and get a g305
Wobbly clicks, inbuilt rubber grips that wear down quick and make it just feel bad, preety heavy compared to g305

  • Is there any good package of wireless mouse and keyboard?? I need both of them for office. They don't have to be very sensitive, but just good price and reliable for several years.\
    thanks

  • Just got Jb to price match (didn’t want to wait the extra 2 days for delivery) and used my $500 GC from Telstra plan to purchase ;)

  • +2

Thanks, bought some for Christmas presents for the kids

  • Another vote for this mouse. Awesome wireless performance, comfy, without the battery-sucking RGB light show. Got mine for ~$63 a few months ago.

  • wow. what a great price for this mouse. bought for $99 at launch, now less than half that.

  • Wow cant believe it was still in stock :) Grabbed one!

  • I already have more mice than I need, yet I decided to buy this anyway. This mindless consumerism has to stop!

    Price matched at Officeworks! $42.75

Bought one for $64 in june 2020 for work and have been satisfied. Did get a warranty claim from razer due to faulty left click. Razer was really swift about it.

Just got my 2nd pair to use it in the office. Thanks op!

  • Just had it delivered. Really nice mouse for what it is.

No frills, but still very good quality. I like that it is 2.4 and BT.

  • Bargain - I was happy with mine at $55 a while back.

  • Nearly bought this then realised my neochef microwave knocks out 2.4ghz connections :l

    • -1

It means it is leaking radiowaves. Change the damn microwave.

  • Not the best mouse for productivity. When you click and drag, it sometimes releases early - probably due to the way the button is designed. Though I don't imagine you would be clicking and dragging a lot when gaming.

    • +2

That could be a symptom of the mouse switch giving out, the contact degradation and whatnot.

You can kinda check whether it started to double click by googling "mouse double click check". There are bunch of websites that allow you to check whether it double clicks.

  • dam bought it and they gave it to a different house goddamit. Now chat is saying wait at least 48hours… just to say that it's going to say that they delivered it jesuss.
