    Got this set last year.

Excellent and only complaint is it’s a bit hard to get the bits out and back in as the holder is so snug.

I wouldn’t describe this set as excellent. The drill bits are as soft as cheese. Maybe ok for some people that use a drill occasionally for light duty things only. If that’s your use case then I guess it’s a good deal

Used it recently for a small job where I wanted to modify an IKEA tall display case, did the job. Definitely not going to be starting my own contracting business/carpentry apprenticeship with this set any time… though I have always been tempted to look for an excuse to sign up for a heavily financed 2021 Ford Raptor with lift kit, roof rack package and custom tool trays.

      • What bit set would you recommend for a tradie?

        • Tradie usually purchased few common sizes than the bit set.

        • irwin, kangoo

      • I agree. Lots of options (probably too many) but not the best quality. To paraphrase what @Richardc says (below), purchase what you need when you need it and you likely get better quality that will last longer.

    • I beg to differ, after 6 months use I've snapped 4 of the smaller sizes just drilling to wood, the driver bits are all rounded over too.

      • Well ikea stuff is basically like mdf… basically no effort required to pierce it. Definitely not building a house or drilling into brickwork with this $30 set lol

    • Same here using it so much

  • The Bosch 27 peice mini ratchet also $7 off .

Not as good as the $13.50 deal but still worth $22

I used the ratcheting screwdriver for the first time the other day, just broke in my hands and fell apart.

    • +3

I got a similar Bosch set a while ago. The drill quality was atrocious. The people commenting here how good this set is must only be drilling pine and gyprock.

    • I also have this set and the ratcheting screwdriver is falling apart after a fairly small amount of light use.

      • Amazon reviews also echo this.. thanks for sharing, Helped me decide to not go ahead or bad

Worth every cent at this price, got this in june for the same price. very happy with the set.

Dumb question but are these bit sets universal or will it only work in Bosch drills?

I got one of those ozito brushless drills so just wondering if it's compatible

    • +2

It will work fine with any drill

  • I got this last time when on sale, really good convenient kit to have.

  • I got the ozito drill driver and impact driver kit for ~$179

I'm certain the bits would work in the drill, but what about the impact driver?

Will these bits fit into the drill driver?

    • +1

Yes the screw driver bits will

    • Yes

  • I bought the aldi bits a few months ago for ~$7 per kit of bits

They had 20-30 bits in each piece.
You had to buy separate ones for HSS, masonry, spade etc

I'm thinking to go return the aldi ones, and buy these instead. Any one have any suggestions?

If these are the book type, clam shell type of cases then keep them for that purpose. I've got a few cheap bit sets picked up on clearance over the years and only these cases have been the most usable for storage and use. As others have mentioned this Bosch has annoying rubber blocks that really slow down getting the bit you want. The Ryobi bit set I got is pretty bad too, like snap in style spots but very poorly made.

Drill bits are consumable so in the end you will end up using/breaking some of them anyway.

  • Would not recommend - soft as butter & some pieces are rusting with zero use.

Even Bunnings Craftright line beats this fairly easily, go for this and this instead for the same price or mix & match if you need masonry etc.

    • For drill bits, go for Cobalt, last much longer than titanium coated and can be sharpen.

Clicked on this link to buy drill bits but the comments convinced me otherwise. Thanks Ozbargain for saving me money on products I irrationally want but don't need, haha.

  • Thanks bought

  • Good kit for basic home stuff. As others have said, the parts can be hard to get out, but that also means they don't come lose either.

  • Can someone explain why these sets are so bad. Despite making contractor grade tools why would Makita, DeWalt (??) and Bosch release crap sets?

Like I've also read really bad things about the Makita drill bit sets which is why I didn't purchase that. After reading good things I recently purchased the DeWalt 160 piece set although I'm a bit sceptical on the quality considering what other brands have released.
