I have been with Celsius for a while and pretty happy with earning in kind for Bitcoin with rewards paid out weekly on Mondays. Also free unlimited withdrawals. They have recently however reduced their 6.2% APY for up to 1BTC to now being only 0.25BTC at 6.2% and the excess earning at 3.05%. I transfer my excess BTC out to other CeFi providers as a result (Ledn and Nexo)

        Agree - be careful doing this. From what seen on Reddit, gaming the promo codes is high up on the list for getting accounts banned.

        Nah, that's not gaming the system, it's perfectly legit. Great deal as you get an effective APY of 28% for 2 months. Not many places you can safely earn that kind of yield on stablecoins. If the USD keeps going up like it is, you might end up with even more money after 2 months, AUD's really been smashed recently.

        Just be careful, if you apply the code, then do this it won't lock. Account balance baseline is set the moment you enter the code, so you want to enter the code on an empty account. Not a fully loaded account, otherwise your entire account value needs to remain there for 60 days.

        Don't enter any code unless you are right about to transfer assets in to get it to lock. Otherwise you'll end up permanently preventing your code from locking and missing out on it forever.

      It is US$150 worth of BTC plus the deposit you make will also be earning additional rewards. e.g. USDC earns 10.02% APY

      60 days with USDC would earn ~US$83.50 + get US$150 BTC

      ~US$233.50 (existing customers) or
      ~US$283.50 (new customers) who use a referral link to get an extra US$50 BTC

      So closer to 0.046%-0.056% for locking in for 60 days.

        You need to consider gas fees for the transfer as well especially for ERC20 tokens such as USDC/USDT .

        in Binance,
        25USD fee for withdrawing USDC
        24USD fee for USDT

        Buying outright through credit card in Celsius kills interest rewards because of 3.5% fee.
        Bank transfer seems to be little complicated inside Celsius since you don't get the typical BSB and ACC number filling. No POLi / PayID either.

        Another thing to consider is USD/AUD conversion rate. If AUD got weaker against USD you will be getting more profits. The same goes other way around.

        The deal is still worth it though.

          I don't bother with buying those to increase rewards. But if I was going to, I would probably do so for Nexo since it has outperformed CEL by a massive margin.

          I don't dabble with altcoins though, I am all in on BTC and don't want to dilute my holdings.

      No, your return depends on the asset. If you transfer TAUD (AUD Stablecoin) you can earn ~10% apy.
      The bonus BTC would be an additional 3% (18% apy for 60 days) assuming a constant BTC price.

        I saw this but it seems ambiguous. To me this could mean that you are allowed to do multiple smaller deposits of any single asset to make up $5000. Otherwise it should say “assets” plural…

      By the way, you might want to look into the fees and spreads of Swyftx, they aren't the cheapest/best compared to say Binance, Coinbase Pro, Kraken etc.

        Thank you for this will stay with SwyftX cos of some benefits and trying to keep everything Australian, since I do my tax return myself.

        I think I will stake SOL with SwyftX, and now have to figure out how to declare that on the tax return since Koinly isn't clear, about what to do with staking.

        I'm guessing also that Celsius is basically staking tokens as well

          Binance has a Pty Ltd in Australia for what it's worth. Swyftx isn't really an exchange but a broker for proper exchanges hence why they are more expensive. Trading fees are as low as 0.05-0.1% versus 0.6% with Swytfx. That is a lot, then on top of that you pay hidden fees with terrible spreads. You are essentially paying considerably more to get less crypto each time.
          Binance also has PayID, deposits and withdrawals are instant like Swyftx

          Solana I would stake through Solflare or Phantom Wallet, connected with your cold wallet e.g. Ledger. No KYC … No reporting since it's a DeX

          Celsius isn't staking. They lend out your crypto to others and pay you interest in kind or in their Cel token.

            I have much more in BTC, so will probably go Celsius with that, rather than stake my SOL. Just checking tax implications before I jump in :/

            @tajid: I activated the promo code ADA40 after CELSIUSCARES, and support has explained this to me.

            Now I have to send in $5000 USD to fulfill the requirement for CELSIUSCARES first, before the next $400 USD could be used for ADA40's $400.

            So yes $4600 USD to go…

    When it says you need to "transfer" the assets in, does that include putting AUD into your account and buying the crypto? what constitutes a "transfer" into the account?

      You can't put AUD into the account.

      Most people just buy coins from exchange and transfer in.

      You can buy using credit cards in the app but the spread and fees make this not worthwhile.
