Useful as burner phone for samsung trade-in?

    • You don't actually need to send the trade-in phone in. If you do they will pay a lot less than $279. Just borrow a friend's phone to run the trade-in quote app.

      • Yeah but that uses the voucher so a friend can't use it

You can get a second hand iPhone SE 2020 for around $300. It’s a good consideration to make.

    • Can you recommend a good site for purchasing Se2020?

      • +2

Look on Facebook marketplace, you can find one local for probably $300.
Just take precautions such as checking the imei and serial number to make sure its not blocked or anything and remember, CASH ON PICKUP ONLY

        • Thanks

You can get this for $269.10 on Boost mobile right now. https://refurbished.boost.com.au/products/iphone-8-refurb?va…

Edit: And you get a $30 boost SIM card

$269.10 is for "very good" condition. The Coles one's I've bought are more "Excellent" condition.

      • What is the battery life like?

        • It was 80%. FWIW I retuned it for that reason!

Or $305 for one that's not scratched up so badly.

iPhone SE 2020 would be a lot better deal, even if you have to pay $400. iPhone 8 is 4 years old, and has only 2GB RAM.

Must say these refurb devices are a great idea. Perfect phone for my 12yr old and i dont have to worry about him breaking an expensive gadget if i give him a brand new iphone. But there are websites dedicated to refurb devices with huge range, practically every model, color and grade. Dint know know it was such a big industry

    • 279 you can get cheaper new phones for him to play with.

      • But not an iPhone. Some families are committed to the Apple ecosystem for better or worse.

I got 2 yesterday . Both in 99% cosmetic condition. 1 @ 89% battery and other at 83% battery. Kids are happy so i am also getting 2 phones cheaper that the 1 i was going to buy new .

I got one of these in the last round, was my first iPhone since Gen 2. Works great, I reakon it’s a good buy either as a second burner or as a driver if you are okay with the little screen.

  • Could also grab a $30 SIM for only $10.

Use code CYBERWEEK for additional $20 off

    • How to use code?
      In-store?

      • Online order

  • Beware these are Japanese iPhones and you can't turn the mute capability off (for camera shutter), it's disabled because in Japan it's forbidden.

  • Thanks OP. Got one for my 11 year old for high school next year. Will be picking it up on Monday morning.

  • Can anybody confirm if this phone is unlocked or locked to Boost? I have given the fine print a blokes read and have not found anything, so I am assuming it is unlocked?

  • Found info on Boost website. Tge phone is unlocked.

  • Picked up the phone this morning. Battery health is 83%. Phone condition is excellent, can’t see any marks on the phone. Comes with cable and charger. Colour is silver (mainly white). Will wait for the kiddo to come home from school and check if he likes it. Hopefully can get 3 to 4 years out of it, even if he needs to use a portable battery.
