Edit 2: Coupon value has increased to 30%, dropping the price to $20.99.

Edit 1: It appears that they are the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 97. Insane deal.

Did a random search on Amazon for "AptX earbuds" and turned up these. They are completely unbranded, but use same Qualcomm 3040 chipset as many of the more highly-rated Soundpeats buds such as TrueAir and TrueEngine SE series. That means AptX and BT 5.0, as well as CVC 8.0 Noise Cancellation, whatever that does.

Cannot vouch for SQ on these in any way, and there are precisely nil reviews, but cannot go wrong for the price.

Anyone can ID what these units are, I would be very curious to know.

  • They look pretty similar to the edifier x3's?

  • +3

I think they’re similar to the taotronics sound liberty 97.

You're right. It matches the description on other sites, and makes sense to see them being dumped after Sunvalley got booted from Amazon. LOL at $79.95 on Catch.

    • cool thanks - i like the wifes soundliberty 79's - will try these for myself

  • +1

    Now $22.94 today

  • There's a good chance that these will actually arrive as the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 97's because my friend recently order some unbranded headphone that looked like the TaoTronics BH085 and when they arrive they were literally branded TaoTronics BH085.

I just received these - they are indeed the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 97.

      • Yeah nice! I guess that's how they might be getting around selling TaoTronics products on Amazon.

I got two as Christmas presents but maybe I should pick up an additional pair for myself at $22.94

        How's the ANC?

        • I would say this is not so much "getting around" as having a dumpster sale. I think the ANC on these is only for the mics, to theoretically make you sound slightly less unintelligible on calls.

        • I didn't test thoroughly but it wasn't obvious that ANC was even on it? I have the Sony 1000xm3 and its really obvious when ANC mode is on (and really good). The other strange thing with these Soundliberty97's, I started feeling nausea/nauseated within about 10mins - could have been unrelated, will do some more testing. I use cheap Dudios Freedots for hours at a time without any issues.

@bashprompt: The only noise cancellation on these are for voice calls, not sound: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/features/cvc-noise-cancell…

You may have to fiddle around to get the best fit and sound. I found with the tips fitted out of the box I needed to really push them in deep to not sound tinny. I went up to the largest tip and found they sealed well without having to push the buds in so far.

  • If they all are indeed branded TaoTronics SoundLiberty 97's then unless they're a new revised version they wont have a QCC3040 chip, instead a QCC3026.

    • It's not the first time their products are not entirely accurate when check against the product description. I bought a Taotronic Bluetooth Receiver a few years back. The sound quality and the functions were as per the product description but the battery only lasted about half the advertised length.

As long as you buy with lower expectations, you will more likely be satisfied with your purchase.

  • Also found the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 79's on sale
Anyone able to comment which are better?

I was disappointed with those, most likely because they lack AptX support. If you are on Android you definitely want one that has a Qualcomm chipset.

Just got my pair, just gotta say how awesome these sound for 20 bucks. I have the Sennheiser momentum tw2 as well and gotta say these sound pretty close. Getting another pair right now. Thanks OP!

  • Got one thanks!

Mine also arrived today. They are indeed most definitely TaoTronics SoundLiberty 97s. I get 48kHx AptX through these, as opposed to 44.1kHz AAC through the $18 SoundLiberty 79s. After resolving fit issues with on both pairs (largest tip size, for good seal without having to shove the buds in), I find the sound noticeably richer on these, whereas the 79s are still slightly tinny. The touch controls seem more reliable on the 79s than on the 97s, but I prefer to control playback on the phone anyway. The one thing I don't totally love about them is how they stay on and connected until you actually flip the lid of the case shut. I ordered before the extra 10% price drop for Prime members but happy all the same. I'll stuff the 79s in a bag for the use case where I just want to block out annoying conversations on public transport, and use these ones more for workouts.

Definitely fully branded, original package soundliberty 97. I'm happy with these for the money.

    • Yeah arrived today for me (ordered Thursday night), super impressed for $22 I literally see no reason anyone could justify $150+ on mainstream branded wireless earbuds.

I own a pair of Galaxy Buds Live which came with my phone and these emphasise bass a little more which I like, perhaps due to the sealed in-ear design? These isolate sound so well that ANC doesn't even seem necessary to me.

  • Need prime for the full discount, I think. $29.99 -$3 (prime) -15%= $22.94

  • What are these for making calls, mic quality?

    • Really bad. The receiver on the other end said they heard 'moving train' noises.

      • FWIW, the mic quality is an improvement over my SoundPeats TA2. I assume it's because if the ANC feature for calls… I've had less complaints from people on the other end.

  • Mine arrived last night, fully branded TaoTronics SoundLiberty 97, amazing deal! I don't know what its not voted higher!

    • It's a secret to everybody.

I swapped out the earbud tips for my Xiaomi Fresh edition tips which I found to be more comfortable.

      • I'm glad I got these, better sound quality and more comfortable for longer periods than the SoundPeats TA2 which has the silicone wing.

But am I doing something wrong in terms of fit? It just feels quite insecure in the ear compared to the TA2 and trying different size tips hasn't really helped… I mean they're secure enough, I've walked for 30 mins with them on, but they seem to slowly pop out and I have to keep pushing them back in.
