For any Melbourners, I might book this place to try out, 50% off food menu and looks like it does some pretty authentic Austrian food (with some good tap beers too).

    • +1

Schnitzel was good and they accept discount if you already have points.

    • Yeah noticed this one pop up. Not many yum points places you can redeem if you don't want Indian food in Melbourne.

  • Hey, OP where do I enter the code, cant seem to find it where to enter, sorry New user here. Thnx

    • +3

You have to book on the app, on the final page before you confirm the booking, there’s a promo code section there where you enter the code.
If you are first time user, you could also book one via referral first (earns 1000 yums), and then make another booking with this promo (for 2000 yums).

      • Thanks for the info OP, much appreciated. Can I just pay normally with my Credit card or do you have to add card in the App and pay through it to get the points??
Also just need to book by 27th but can dine at later date for the booking, as restaurant I want
        is booked out till 28th

        • You just pay at the restaurant as usual. You can book for any date that’s available for booking, so 28th will definitely be fine.

  • Having never used TheFork for anything other than just reserving, does anyone know how you redeem something like this? Thanks in advance

    • +8

You have to filter the restaurants by "accepts yums", which does reduce your options a lot. Then just book through the website and it will use your credit first.

      • +1

        Thx mate. Appreciate it!

  • Minimum spend?

    • +1

No minimum spend from my experience. The restaurant just have to check you in.

      • +1

So can be technically $50 free

        • +5

Yes if you dine and dash

    • +1

$5 coffee, from when I've booked mostly for points

  • +3

I had a hard time finding a place to redeem YUMS the last time I had 2k points. I just checked again and it looks like only 2x places in BNE are accepting YUMS now, is that the case? Il Verde & frida kahlo's summer house are the only two that came up in my search just now.
EDIT. Also found Colle Rosso Ristorante Italiano on specific days for dinner only

  • +6

Never going to use TheFork again. $200 worth of YUMS expired even though there was a damn bunch of lockdowns and an inability to book anything on their service.

    • +2

Really? All my points due to expire were extended until March 2022 automatically during the last lockdown. Maybe contact customer service and see if they can reinstate it for you?

    • +3

Have you tried contacting support? They are generally helpful.

      • +1

I did and they were useless. I lost yums too. This is a good deal though if you can find a venue and use quickly

    • +3

Yeah, I just logged in and saw that I had 1500 YUMS expire in March 2021… and the last email I had from them was January 2020, so no notification of expiring points, and I had just assumed like every similar rewards business (like lounge passes, hotel rewards, etc), they would extend the rewards expiry date whilst the pandemic was ongoing. Far out, I'll contact support, but that's pretty poor and does nothing for loyalty (update: just tried live chat and it said "no agents are available", so will try emailing).
Update: they replied very quickly to the email and reinstated the points with a new one-year expiration period. So thumbs up for their support.

    • +1

I just messaged them to reinstate it and they did. In less than a day, my yums are back.

  • Do I need to book a restaurant that accepts YUMS in order to receive the YUM bonus points?

    • +1

nope, any restaurant gives yum points, but to use yums, only selected will accept (you can filter that, easy)

  • Have never used The Fork before, just a couple questions, hoping someone might know. Can Yums stack? eg. the referral 1000 Yums with this promo 2000 Yums. And does anyone know how long you can keep the Yums before they expire?

    • +1

previously we can use yum points and get this kind of bonus promo but now if you book with selecting to use yum, there is no box anymore to enter code

    • +2

No, the referral has to be the first booking, then another promo such as this. You can make the bookings one after another though (don’t have to finish dining first).
Yums are valid for 12 months.

    • Ah I see. Thanks for the info!

  • +3

I remember every limited options to actually use these yums points.

Ie restaurants that accept booking vs those that accept yums points are different

    • +1

      very*

  • +1

yes limited but they are ones that are good.
in sydney probably less than 10 but i dont mind coming back once a month for $50 less of my bill.
tips: if you have citibank cc check if the restaurant participate in the citi dining, you get free bottle of wine to drink !

  • +2

Barely any places to book with rewards

  • Is anyone else having problems booking on the app? My booking calendars are all blank ☹️

  • +1

Thanks OP. Cancelled a booking with Quandoo with the same restaurant in favour of this.
Quite a few places in WA accepting yums at the moment.

  • +1

Melbourne - the restaurants that accept Yums is constantly changing. Various Meat & Wine Co locations drop in and out throughout the year. It's just a matter of checking semi-regularly if any new/good restaurants pop up.

  • +1

You cannot use the fork for take away can you?

    • +2

      you need spoon and knifes

  • Is it for a booking on this date, or just make the booking on this date (for down the line)?

    • Would also like to know this! Want to book dinner on the 29th.

      • +3

usually the dates are just for making booking so yeah 29th dinner is fine.
but yeah dont cancel and rebook after that promo period

  • So how do you use these YUM points the second time? Do you just tell the place I want to use the points and they take $50 off?

Also when you sign up for the 2000 points, once the booking is made do I need to hit certain spending amount before I can get the 2000 Yum points? What if I am a single guy made a booking to one of the place and spend $10, do I still get the 2000 YUM points?

    • +1

during booking the app will ask if you want to use yumm points. do not worry, easy peasy - trust me just join this app!

nope, no minimum you can just book and go eat plate of chips for $6 and you still get the yum points.

  • Great app!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Booked dinner later in the week.

With the 2000 yums… a restaurant I’m looking at locally accepts yums and is also doing 30% off the menu if you book early evening. Any reason I couldn’t combine the 2?

    • +3

      Doesnt stack.

You cant have both discount and redeeming yum

    • +1

if you can, then you can.
some restaurant during booking on the app will show you to choose: using yum OR 30% off
you cant get both on this instance

      • Thanks guys!

    • Which restaurant and you talking about which accepts yums

      • Got it. Bombay bliss Morayfield

        • +1

Not the restaurant I was talking about but they do indeed accept yums! To get more results in your search try dates during the week (Tue-Thur) and early (1700-1800) - from memory I had about 7 restaurants to choose from.

  • So, you book, go to restaurant, pay as normal, get 2000 Yums, then next time go to same restaurant, redeem 2000 Yums, is this correct?

    • well the first one can be any restaurants,
to use or redeem not. selected restaurants

      • So still need to pay for the first one?

        • +1

Pay first restaurant. Use yums at limited selection of restaurants.

Still 2k yums for no minimum spend is not bad!

        • You can use an use an offer on the first one, like 30% off or discount set menu.

  • Had a look at their website. Not sure what it does. Looks like articles on food. Unappealing.

  • +1

Does the restaurant need to do anything?

I’m at a restaurant and I’ve asked them to confirm the booking and they have no idea, they’ve never had a booking through TheFork

Just worried TheFork won’t be able to get confirmation that I ate here.

    • +1

Yes they should confirm that you attended the booking to earn points. Can you show them email confirmation you received?

    • +1

I don't think they have to confirm. Have eaten at restaurants that don't have a clue and have always been given yums. Just get a receipt if you are that worried and a quick chat with the Fork customer service usually rectifies it (they have never asked for a receipt)

      • They should mark a booking either no-show or done, so you can see in your booking history. If they don't know the app then yeah keep the receipt just in case

    • When arrive just tell them you have booking through the fork. And keep receipt just incase.

      • +1

Yeah they didn’t understand what the Fork I’m talking about. Got the receipt

  • "Sorry. this code is invalid." ???

    • +1

Make sure you do it on the app, that happened to me when using the website

  • I'm looking to make my first booking and some restaurants' menus don't seem to include all their items on the app. Would I have to order from the more limited selection on the app to qualify for any offers like -30%?

    • +3

Nope. Go order in the restaurant as per their menu

      • Any idea if restaurants care to disqualify you if you book a table for 2 for - 30%, but your mate doesn't end up coming?

        • +2

I don’t think the restaurant would mind, as long as someone checked in, just like a normal booking. They can’t really mark you as no show, keep your receipt just in case.

  • If you cancel, can you reapply the code?

    • +1

can… just make sure rebooking within that promo period otherwise code will expiry. and yeah call your mate first to confirm. no rush……

    • +2

Haven’t really tried due to risk of losing the bonus points. Although I have called restaurants to move the booking on their end if I can’t make it, and the new time have reflected on the app and the bonus points remained with that booking.

  • Can I make two bookings within 30 mins of each? So I can claim both at the same time while I’m there?

What should I tell the restaurant?

    • You could but not sure if the restaurant would honour both bookings. Will be a bit awkward. Better to make it two separate days. You could book as far as February if you want to wait a while.

      • ok great thank you! Will do that

      • -1

agree please do not attempt to scam this guys they are good already, if you into eat outside you will appreciate them, obviously if you are the type who cook instant noodles at home on weekends dont bother to even read this

    • +2

I wouldn't do this… even if you got a receipt and points weren't credited i think you'd have a hard time convincing The fork to give you them. As Magwri said better to just make separate bookings on different days or at different restaurants and go and enjoy. 1k points is easily worth it e.g. book a breakfast at cafe and the points would essentially make it free!

      • in my case, they are good. one day i booked with code but the restaurant closed - the code has expired but when i contact them dont worry book again dine there and let me know we credit the bonus manually. and they done exactly that.

      • +1

Yes, I decided to book another day to save troubles. Cheers for your input guys

  • I am getting "This code is not recognised; please enter it again or delete it."
Did I screw up and not make a booking in time?

    • +1

Nope I am just a dumb dumb who can't read to book via the app

      • +1

you scared me for a sec - I was like nooooooooo

  • Restaurant cancelled my booking after we went there to eat last night. They said it was because we ordered food from their weekly specials. Is that right? Can they do that? I kept the receipt.

    • +1

      No they cannot!

Contact TheFork and show them the receipt.

    • +2

No that’s not right, they can’t do that. Chat to customer support about it.

  • I didn't get the 2000 Yum Points.. Any idea if its delayed?

    • +1

Answer: 3 days if they honor the booking

      • Dont worry they will. Have a little faith

    • Yes it takes a few days to be credited to your account. But the points should show as pending.

      • Yea i got a heart attack cause it didn't show under the booking but instead under my yums

  • +1

    Points received!

  • +1

lol i have 4,600 points now
