Question is do you gamble on the 7 series not coming out for a while (chip shortages, issues with production) or not

    • +8

Will still be 1300 for a 7 series or whatever

    • +2

Even if the 7 comes out the revisions so far have been very incremental. I went from a Fenix 3HR to a 6x and barely noticed a difference. A few little things here and there, sure, but nothing to write home about. I'd say the 7 will be the same - improvements but nothing revolutionary.

    • +3

People made the same comments during last year's Black Friday sales and they're still waiting

  • +6

Not sure if I should take the plunge or wait for Amazon to lower again their prices. But I could go to JBs to price match Amazon. I don't like to deal with Kogan aftersales.

  • +7

Have had this exact version for a few years, bought it at full price, and still love it.

I use it daily for runs/rides etc and the battery is as good today as the day I bought it. Screen is immaculate despite it being hit against rocks, dropped multiple times, and literally only leaves my wrist once a week to charge.

At this price if you're looking for a multi-sport watch with all the bells and whistles (and understand that this is a sports watch with a few smart watch features, so don't expect an Apple Watch) this is great value and I can't see there be any series-killing features that they'd put into a 7 series (Garmin typically do incremental improvements, not major overhauls of the Fenix range) so I doubt this will be a regret.

    Watch size is chunky AF

    • +1

I don't have massive wrists and I think it's perfect.

  • I bought the fēnix 6X - Pro from Rebel for just over $600 (inc. cashback) and it's a great watch. Not sure the HR measure is all that accurate. It says I get to 190bpm vs 170bpm on the fitbit…Kogan also has the Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire Pro for $699. Not sure what the difference is between the Sapphire Pro and the Sapphire that justifies $160 difference?

    • +4

      Sapphire models are all Pro

    • +2

I tested my 6x against a chest HRM, and it was very close. YMMV

      • That's my next test. I have an old model Polar watch with the chest strap.

      • my 5 was massively inaccurate. I use it for aggressive mountain biking so i think it has to do with movement on wrist while getting bounced around….when still seems ok

        • +1

Bouncing around makes sense. I wear mine tight when using the HRM function (also aggressive MTB), otherwise it loses track of my heart rate

    • +4

Wrist HRs are as a whole pretty ordinary. If you're concerned about it, get a chest HR.

  • Showing as $599 for me?

    • +1

      Need to have Kogan First.

    • +1

Can add free Kogan First trial at checkout to get full discount and free postage

      • +1

Thanks guys, that wasn't clear to me in the post

        • -3

It wasn't clear to you? What about the absolutely enormous "$599 WITH KOGAN FIRST" + "10% off that at checkout" under that?

Do you need to have your hand held literally everywhere you go?

  • +2

Great price, would suggest trying to price match instead of using Kogan marketplace, just haven't had good experiences with them, they're kinda the wannabe Amazon, but aren't quite there yet.

  • +1

I called JBhifi and was told Kogan stuff are considered grey imports and they don’t match price with Kogan. They wouldn’t even match Amazon price.

    • Are they grey imports though?

      • idk also keen to find out who the actual supplier is but could not find any information on that.

    • JB hifi hardly match the store next door

      • Unless it's TGG. They always match them since they own them.

        • Yes they 'the store nextdoor'

    • JB have the 6x pro offer now for $746

    • Not my experience, they price matched for me easy..I appreciate their service would pick jbhifi stuff any day over other suppliers and wouldn’t bother them if it’s 20-30 bucks price match.

  • What an awesome price 😱

  • +1

Awesome price - shame the watch size is not for everyone.

    • +2

TBH, the watch is so light and the screen space useful for more than just time of day that the bigger the better

      • I got a thicker than normal wrist and the 6X looks too big still. Of course, if you only use for training that is fine, but I use my standard size fenix everyday/everywhere. A 6X doesn't look good away from training wear…

  • +2

Didn’t really need a tv and not sure if I need this watch…….but have ordered both 😬

    • This is the way

  • are they imports?

  • Great price for a great watch! Only thing I would add is buy from somewhere else, anywhere but this store.

  • why would you price match at $628 if the price is $539?

  • price is now $599 at kogan

  • +3

Not sure why this deal is expired. It is still $539 with the free 'Kogan First' trial membership.

  • +2

It's against my religion to give dodgy-arse Kogan any money

  • So why this over Apple Watch 7 when the price isn’t that big of a difference?

    • +9

Because this is for sports not for muppets

    • +3

Nobody can really tell you that because it honestly depends on what you want your watch to do. Are you looking for a smartwatch with fitness features, or a sports watch with smart features? Both the Watch 7 and the Fenix 6X are amazing watches for what they do. I personally prefer to press on physical buttons when I'm running or working out, and I'm pretty rough with the way I use the watch too, which is why I still have a Fenix 6S over the Watch.

Watch 7 is predominantly a smartwatch that has good fitness features. In my experience, they aren't the most durable (I've broken two), and they don't have the best battery (~1 day vs >2 weeks). However, it has better GPS, superior display and has seamless integration with my iPhone. I also find the Watch more comfortable - not only because it's lighter and smaller, but because of how it sits on my hand and the rounded corners. It's just a beautiful minimalist device.

Fenix 6X Sapphire on the other hand is a great sports watch with okay smart features. It is insanely durable, and provides way fitness options and more stats (more than most people will need!). This one is super big though (and I had to swap mine out as a result), so that might be a deal breaker for you too. Some people talk about its weight, but it didn't really bother me - you'll initially feel it, but you eventually get used to it. It's smart features are kinda basic as well, which could be something to look at.

  • I got a regular 6x and a 6x Sapphire and the regular 6x looks a lot better than the sapphire.

    • Why do you prefer the regular 6x?

      • +1

The sapphire screen is way more reflective and mirror like, so the watch is harder to view.

  • +1

Still valid and further $20 off with AMEX. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665518

  • Deal is still active! Thanks OP, got one

    • Hi, is it an import?

  • Looks like it's back to $599 (with First, and $679 without). Was umming when it in my cart and when I decided and refreshed it was back to 599 :(

Just to clarify, is the 6X sapphire always the Pro? It appears that way as Garmin website doesn't have a non premium in X or sapphire, but Kogan doesn't mention Pro

  • Funny they removed the 'Black Friday' extra 10% off when it is not even Friday yet.
Hoping that someone else will drop their prices to under $599 as I tend to agree with a number of people about buying from Kogan.

  • Mystery solved! It was too loose on my wrist…
