I would go with this, the current sale price for both is negligible. Also this supports OpenWRT

TP link is not reliable, usually just lasts 2-3 years and open some backdoors to communist
Asus is a Taiwan brand, and generally lasts for 5 years+
3 year warranty with tp link
fwiw my last Asus router made it to the warranty expiry plus a few days then karked it.
5/7 would buy again b/c that's the very first Asus product to die before being replaced.
UK model was $100 earlier this year - for comparison…
This might be more price efficient then eero or nest mesh? Not knowing much about these things what is recommended?
