  • Hi Luke,

Any chance of any deals with one of the above CPUs with a slightly less than 3060 GPU to save some money on that end? I only use my PC for DOTA2, Zoom/Discord/Teams and streaming sports, Netflix, YouTube; sometimes simultaenously.

    Cheers

    • Just get a CPU with integrated graphics, you wouldn't need a GPU for all that.

You might be interested in this deal which I also pulled the trigger on. I've been holding out for a Techfast deal but the Dell was too good to resist. Keep in mind you will need to be a bit technically minded to improve the thermals with a new CPU cooler and maybe some case fan upgrades:

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/393707454483

In comparison to this Techfast deal for $300 less (more if you take into account shipping):

      Pros:

      Better CPU i7-11700 vs i5-10400
      Extra storage 1TB HDD
      Wifi + BT included
KB + Mouse included (to use or sell on)

      Cons:

      Slower RAM 2933mhz vs 3200mhz
Worse PSU (Dell 500W vs 750W Gold)
Worse GPU (3060ti vs 3070ti - difference of about $300 RRP if you were to purchase individually)

Also take into account if you like to upgrade your PC regularly as the Dell would limit what you could do significantly. I wasn't too fussed as I plan to keep the system for a good few years then upgrade the entire system again.

  • @luketechfast is it possible to pick up to save shipping cost? Website does not have pick up option during checkout

What a steal. Just bought the AMD version. A full 3070 Ti build for the price of a single 3070 Ti, gotta love it

    • did you upgrade any parts with the amd build?

      • +1

Nope. I was tempted by the wireless adapter and storage additions since it comes without those, but there are excellent deals going around right now so I'm going to order them separately. Just bought a 1TB NVME for a little over $100 which is a bonkers good deal (node 667616).

  • I’m a non gamer and helping my son buy this one as seems good deal. In terms of add ons I need to add windows, wifi adapter and cooling?? I was going to add more storage when he runs out at later date. Appreciate any guidance :)

    • +1

Howdy. If you want to spend the money, upgrading to the first option for cooling would be the only thing I'd upgrade. You can get a wireless USB adaptor if he needs it.
Upgrading the storage isn't a bad idea either. Most modern games are 80gb so it won't take long to fill it up.
You can add storage later on, but it would be easier to just pay upfront.

      • Thank you. We ended up getting the first option cooling, a wifi adapter and windows os. Thinking I might email them to upgrade the storage after your comments. Best to increase OS SSD or get additional?

        • +1

Totally up to you. It's easy enough to add storage. With the sales at the moment you can get an additional SSD m.2 (m.2 is the long rectangle looking card) for pretty cheap.

Means you can run your game on one drive and still do other stuff on the original drive.

          • @thehallifax: Awesome. Thank you. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge.

Am I understanding correctly that if I was to purchase this right now I'm looking at a end of Jan delivery?

  • How is this processor compared to the build with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G (90 more expensive)?

Anyone got recommendations on a wireless/bluetooth card to suit?
Will be tethering from vodafone 4g for the foreseeable future

  • Hey @luketechfast or anyone else with any ideas..
My system arrived the other day, but I'm having trouble getting it to produce a video output signal. Connecting to display port (or HDMI for that matter on GPU directly, no dice. Even if I remove the GPU and attempt to connect to the motherboard port, still no dice. Have tried a different older working GPU, still no dice. Everything powers on, all fans and lights come on, but I just can't get an output signal. I didn't opt to have Windows included, but I should still be able to see the Gigabyte bios screen, right?
Any help would be super appreciated!

    • More often than not, it's a faulty Displayport cable.

      • Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately I've tried multiple displayport/HDMI cables, all with no luck. Appreciate the input, though!

        • +1

"Appreciate the input" hope that pun was intended!

Sorry you can't find an easy fix :(

  • How is this deal better than the whole bunch of laptop deals in OzB?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/671034

I would have expected the desktop version to be cheaper than laptop version. Or is RTX 3070 Ti 8GB so much better than RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 130W?

  • Too expensive in my view. Gen 12 intel cpu is way better, can buy it a bit later. With the same price we can have a much more powerful platform.

  • +1

Looks like this deal is still active, bought it today. :)

  • I might be missing something but techfast seem significantly cheaper. Is it too good to be true ? Other deals at a 3060 ti BPC tech for $1899

    • BPC has a better motherboard, storage, cpu and its own cooler, its also $100 cheaper. But this deal has the 3070ti, so it's what you prefer
