Using it for travel, loud places like cafe's and studying/working in environment you need noise cancelling

      • Thanks, traditional headache cants do the job with thicker pading on both ears ?

        • ANC is much more effective, sound will permeate any padding

    • yes, I am using it for all of reasons you have mentioned

      • Thanks, so I probably need to get one then. Curious, traditional headache, saw gardener wears sometimes, couldn't do the job ?

        • You mean earmuffs, like from Bunnings? They are pretty good at blocking sound, but active noise cancelling works even better for most sounds. Earmuffs tend to be pretty uncomfortable, usually rely on hard clamp force and really bulky/thick pads. and you can't stream your tv/computer/music through them, but on the other hand, earmuffs are much cheaper so you could always give them a try first

    • I have the misfortune of living on a busy main road, and find noise cancelling headphones essential for minimising the constant traffic VROOOOOM

      • Thanks, I am living on main road , sometimes traffic drives me mad, so compare to normal headache , without battery version , this one would be OK? Do you get sore ears sometimes ?

        • Ah, a fellow road noise sufferer, you know the pain! These are far, far better at reducing traffic noise than regular headphones, they're in a completely different league for neutralising truck engine rumbles and noisy exhausts. I mean, I can still hear some traffic with them on, but it's more like a constant soft whoosing sound. For 100% traffic blockage, try earplugs underneath and these on top and you get silence!!

I wear them nearly all day and charge them at night, they're super comfortable (low clamp force and very soft ear cushions) The only complaint I have is that your ears get really sweaty, no joke. I never knew my ears sweated before but because the cups don't breathe, you get moisture build up. So for comfort you might have to take them off every half hour or so for a break. And that's why i'm buying a second pair, so i can switch between the two

          • @Klonoah: i see, thanks, i think we are in the same boat, so i will wait deal and grab one later on. Have you also tried noise cancelling ear plug? not sure what difference , but price is much similar, saw runners wear it all the time

            • @coast666: Yes, I have nuheara noise cancelling earbuds and have extensively compared them both, and I can confirm the sony headphones are noticeably better at reducing external noises.

Noise cancelling earbuds with earmuffs over the top does a much better job, but I find them too uncomfortable to wear for long. The earbuds give me ear pain after a few hours, since they are quite hard, bulky and sit heavy in your ear. I always opt for the headphones if I can

I'm sure it comes down to personal preference a fair bit, but I'm happy to share my experience if it be of any help. Good luck!

Why anyone would buy worn second hand headphones after covid is beyond me. Let alone for $200…either stupid or crazy

      • +1

        Crazy stupid

      • +1

  • What's the normal price of it

    • +1

      • $250 on Amazon

  • any chance of the same deal appearing again?

    • look for Sony Seconds in Ebay, I remember it went to $182 once

      • +2

nah thanks but I'm not buying seconds for sth like headphones.

        • -2

It is Sony Refurbished, 1 year warranty.
To be honest, I think they are not used at all considering the packaging.

Interesting they put this on sale. I'm after the XM4's and hoping they put them on sale too.

how to get notifications for amazon lightning deals?

  • Argh! I've had these headphones on watch but had a busy day today and completely missed this.

  • boo got a waitlist notification but it just lead me to the $249 price…

  • looks like it will be delivered today, although it said "delivery will be on Sunday" when ordering,

    • got it :D

      • Was it faster because you have prime? Mine hasn't even been shipped yet, says arriving 6/12 lol

        • +1

should be due to prime, that's how I found this deal, they open lighting deals to prime member before non members.

    • +1

that was fast, one day delivery

      • I usually get all prime orders like that if it is shipped from Dandenong

  • How does waitlisting work? I don't see a button.

Also I find Amazon displays of prices for items weird. This one comes up at $348 for the main price, then tiny buttons to buy it from Amazon for $249…?

    • now there is no waitlist. You can buy for $249 by selecting Amazon AU as seller now.

  • +1

Yo mine arrive today I thought XM3 had micro USB not USB-C. What a pleasant surprise.

  • Just got mine and the right ear has a bassie tinny noise when NC is on. Gutted
