    • Different drive

    • terrible reviews!

  • Cheapest on Amazon maybe but i think JB had these for $99 earlier in the year

    • there were plenty of $99 offers for 4TB drives earlier this year, and I didn't get any because i thought Black Friday would bring better deals, which it didn't (yet). Also, form previous comments, WD drives cannot be shucked, so in case your case fails, there will be no way to remove the dive inside it and put it into another external case. that's why I've been waiting for the Seagate $99 deals

      • it's been a pretty disappointing BF tbh. All I ended up buying is some brita filters, and cheap IEMs to fill $100.

There's no case to fail, it'll be main controller board. And with encryption enabled you won't be able swap it from other drive.

  • Is there any difference between password encryption offered by WD versus encrypting the whole drive via say veracrypt? Is it just the ability to unlock it on any computer using WD prompts whereas the alternative is requiring veracrypt to be installed on wherever it's plugged in?
