please dont compare a DIY kit to a price for them to do it for you…
I'm sure many of us could do it ourselves… but there are plenty of "young at hearts" who would have no clue… and for a few bucks more they can get it done…

Even if I'm a "young at heart", I'd be looking for a techie friend to do it for me. $31 + a dinner, is still a lot cheaper than $69…

before you talk out of your ass, go and research how cumbersome it is to change the screen
i am the "techie friend" and had to change one of these screens, apple uses like 500 screws and you have to disassemble everything.
Took me 2 hours, which @ $20/hr justifies the premium.
Depends how much you fear taking it apart. I replaced my home button yesterday, arguably the same procedure as changing the screen, if not worse. Took about 1 hour, hardest part being keeping track of the screws which are all tiny and roughly the same length.
Not for the faint of heart definitely, but also not impossible.
$69 - not too bad considering the amount of time it takes.

This is a good deal for those who have an iphone with a screen that needs replacing and dont have the time/skill to replace it themselves. Unless you know of another place that does onsite repairs in 3 hours for that price or cheaper you can neg this deal. Dont neg it because u can get the screens cheaper on ebay.
End of the day it's cheap. I paid 50 for labour on the same job.
And to all the heroes try changing it yourself. My brother who probably regards himself as a techie tried it and fucked up. It is well worth paying someone to do for u.

Let's compare apples with apples here guys. Not everyone wants to buy a kit and install the screen themselves. I love to geek it up but have damaged a phone in the past doing this job.

There is a mobile repair shop at Habour town (I am not sure what its called but keep seeing it advertised, its right as you walk in from the bris rd entry, across from rip curl, the also do replace it while you wait!), 3mins up the road from this place that replaces iPhones for $49, this is not a deal
changed a screen today .. allow 2 hours and make sure u have good eyes.. those screws are tiny..
I also had to order 2 screens off ebay as the first one was faulty… This is a bargain … who in there right mind is going to risk destroying there $500+ phone to save an extra $30…

First original iphone screens COGS direct from FOXCONN (the factory that makes all apple product). Wholesale price $50-60AUD
Secondly, aftermarket iphone screens had 3 different grades to it.
Taiwanese brand, SHARP and LG LCD.
You can get some as low as $25per unit.
There are many repair offers out there do not claim what part they used. Secondly a poor repair jobs will encounter the following;

Just curious, does this include the lcd panel or just the glass/digitizer?
iPhone 4 (like iPod 4th Gen) has the Digitizer, frame and LCD all in one assembly. Technically it is possible to separate them, but certainly not worth risking the LCD which is really easy to crack.

It is impossible to replace the iphone 4 glass digitizer only. All screens repairs come with the GLASS + LCD. So regardless if you only damaged the glass they both will be replace.
Fact: iphone 4 glass screens + LCD was super glued together by Apple to stop any dust particular from getting in between.
This concept also apply to itouch 4th gen.
Anyway, answering your questions we charge $120 including part and labor. Please check out our website. We also provide other repair services where the Apple Genius bar has given up on. (Seriously, there is no Genius there)
End of the day, think twice and ask a tone of questions. If the deals sounds and look too cheap.. you probably are getting a CHEAP service.

warranty voided if you open your iphone yourself.
There are certain stickers on the phone where if its removed, Apple will not look into this as you've already void their warranty policy.
You will need to remove them during a screen replacement.
So they could tell then. Is it worth paying $120 on a front glass when I can replace my phone for $179?
