    $9.90 shipping to Sydney
If you're close to a JW Computers it's $6.10 more at $135 pick up if you don't want to wait or have a HDD shipped.
    $139 at UMart.

Yeah, however, I assumed that one would buy a minimum of 2 , someone like me who’s trying to upgrade the NAS system.

        Ah yeah true.
I guess I've got the luxury of expanding 1 drive at a time with UNRAID.

      • Like me, expanding from 2 of these to 4 in my Synology 920.

  • Great price although $12.50 shipping to Melbourne (and the fact it's SExpress) takes the shine off a bit. Good if you're buying multiple though.

    • $22.60 shipping to SA kills the deal. Even PC Case Gear shipping is cheaper than this.

  • The shipping is a killer. Think these worked out around 126 or something with the ebay afterpay deal, same price if you buy two I guess.
Will anyone price match I wonder?

yeah I would never ship internal hard drive, had a few DOA in the past from poor packaging.

I respect your experience, however, i would believe that it is more for the seller of the manufacturer to pack it properly. Otherwise it's just more hassle for them to either to receive the faulty item, process the refunds etc.

Better head off to Thailand then, otherwise they're getting shipped no matter where you buy them ;)

      • Different levels of protection. I'd be happy to have HDDs shipped if they were packed like they are for distribution in the wholesale network. Unfortunately most retail places seem to just chuck the drives into an empty box or satchel and call it a day.

  • This or the Seagate Barracuda 8TB for storing videos?

    • If you don’t want your drive to be accessible from outside your home network, then you don’t need this, IMHO.
These drives are meant to stay online for 24/7 settings, SB 8TB is for your desktop , but isn’t designed for a 24/7 settings.

They also have the 4TB WD Red Plus at $119 if you prefer WD.

I bought 2 yesterday at this price.

    These are CMR right?

    • +1

      Yes they are.

  • Deal is over? I'm seeing them at $149 now. Dang, I have been hanging out for some cheap drives to load up my home server.

I just updated it as expired now.
Last time I checked, they had the offer available until 5th December.

    • Thanks for the confirmation. Bummer! I need to set myself an alert for NAS drives. Hope there is another good deal soon.

I have been in the same boat, but then I asked the question to myself ( do I really need it)..lol
I’m sure this deal will be back soon :)
    All the best!!

  • Purchased these in Brisbane however changed mind and looking to upgrade to 2x 8TB.

If anyone interested in Brisbane to purchase for a good price ($225 for both) let me know. Have only unwrapped to deploy into a Synology and performed the full SMART tests. Would provide invoice dated 29 November 2021.

PM me or if any issues reply on this thread.
