    • its funny, when someone can click a little red button, but not a long blue link, showing the truth…

I read all bargain posts except for Woolworths catalogue posts. Going to Woolworths is quite out of my way and only something like a phone deal would make me go there.

These single posts highlighting the single outstanding deal are pivotal.

Agreed. I ignore the woolies and coles 'deals', they're so much fluff I'm not interested in.

I think it's OK to post this as this deal won't be noticed by many in a long list of Woolworths weekly specials.

The $69 Huawei IDEOS X3 deal from Woolworths is a better deal if you plan to use the phone for non phone call related activities. The resolution jump is critical - many apps just won't work properly or sometimes at all at such a low resolution like the Galaxy 5 has.

    • Can you still get this for $69 @ woolies?

      • Ends on the 3rd of April.

      • Bought yesterday, but many Woolies near me are out of stock. I asked them to ring around & they found 1 & put it aside for me.

    • Can you unlock these two phones? Are those eBay codes ok? Thanks :)

I used UK Ebay unlocker "littlecube2010" - worked fine for an X3.
        Around $12.

        • Awesome thanks. Might finally get my parents out of their Motorola Razr flip phones :/

      • Unlocked the X3 FREE on vodafone site - pure luck!

Its a very crap phone well past its use-by date (no offense OP)
Get the $69 X3 special - poops on it.
EDIT: Also at Woolworths this week.

  • can this tether ?

    • Yep, no problem.
Note: might have to download Windows ActiveSync.

    +1 for huawei x3

  • I always had the notion that when you bought a locked phone you had to sign up for a contract or something. Can anyone confirm that this is the case? Thanks

    • Nope. The phone is simply locked ot Telstra for I think 6 months or $80 pre-paid recharge, whichever comes first. That's my understanding anyway.

      • From WP, "In general, Telstra NextG prepaid handsets will cost $100 to unlock while Telstra GSM prepaid handsets will cost $50 to unlock. After 6 months has elapsed from activation, this reduces to $27.50 for both handset types. After 2 and a half years, GSM prepaid handsets will become free to unlock"

    Sore neck…thanks

These (Samsung Galaxy 5) can be unlocked for free. You need to root it, then follow instructions found at xda-developers site. Search for "Unlock your Samsung i5500".
    Took 5 minutes and straightforward.
It's an oldish phone, but a steal at $50. Might try to get (another) one later.
Be aware that it won't play Temple Run…according to my kids!

    • Mine was already unlocked. Although it came with lots of Telstra apps, had to use Titanium Backup to uninstall them.
It won't play lots of games and apps because of the tiny screen.

  • Very decent price, about the same specs of the Huawei U8150 when it was $50

why does this post doesn't get removed but the Huawei X3 was removed for being duplicate? I think these phone deals should not be considered dupe because these deals was buried in the groceries compare-a-tron and a lot of people will miss out the deal.

    • Ah - the mystery of the Mods!
I was asking a question on the X3 deal posting, but it was taken down when I posted a minute later. Now it is back again???? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66916
