It's dual core 1 Ghz, USB is handy if you want to use joystick for gamming
but be warned, even is has ext sd slot, you cant move apps to external sd card with Ice Cream Sandwich OS

    • only issue is NO HDMI or miniHDMI…

    • It's pretty stupid to move apps to external sd when there are plenty of internal storage for apps.

      • -2

This tablet only holds 8 GB. No drop down menu , ICS is a bit tad compare to Gingerbread. I still got my Galaxy Tab 7" (1st version) that's how I make the comparison in OS

        • -1

8GB is plenty for apps. I have an Acer A500 tab running ICS and I've installed about 150 apps and it uses about 1GB of storage. It's much better to have the apps in internal storage for faster access. The external sd is for storing media files.
For my android phone with very low internal storage, the only way I can install more apps is to move them to external sd via link2sd or a2sd.

      • this comment is quite stupid.

        • why?

        • my comment is not to you, medium_tight.

  • might pick this up today!

  • I think is a dupe already posted in the HN tablet sales yesterday.

  • Awesome price ! I bought a tablet few days ago…. :(

Dont forget the $100 egift voucher:

  • any one know what the difference between this and the A500? I have the A500 and it is awesome, looking for one for my kids

    • No rear camera

    • +1

No rear camera and no HDMI output but virtually identical for a much cheaper price!

      • thanks guys, I think the graphics chip is different too from looking but not sure. With the 50% government rebate on education allowances, this is a deal :)

        • +1

Yeah i think I saw that too but I was happy the resolution between the two are the same.

  • You might want to change the cashback price as shown by OP, I believe its only 49 dollars but still a great deal

    Here's a recent review of the A200.
    http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/15/acer-iconia-tab-a200-revi…
I know a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush but I think I'll hang on a bit longer for my Android tablet.

    • +2

I dont think you can get any better than this. Sure there will be heaps of those crazy 1hr sales that last 1 second but for a "current" gen tablet from a reputable manufacturer, this is a very good deal. New tablets will be out soon but they won't be going for $250.

  • just picked this up, but i think i'll skip the $100 "evoucher" for more real 50 bucks cashback!

  • +2

for those who are not aware of $100 eVoucher - it is an Acer eVoucher which can be used only on music and ebooks only. So if you are thinking you can use it anywhere like a visa-mastercard… then you are thinking it wrong my friend!

    Nice price though :)

    Note:

    Cashback

Offer ends 31 March 2012. Cashback is via redemption from the supplier. Terms and conditions apply. Please see http://www.acer.com.au/cashback for details. $49 Cashback via Redemption

    • Can I still buy now and register online and then send the receipt later?

  • Its pay retailer $298 before cashback. $248 after waiting for $49 cashback from manufacturer.

    • I think it is not really cash, it is something like a prepaid CC.

      • You can spend it like cash, so not any different from cold hard bills.

The only thing is that it's hard to spend exactly $49 so that you use up the entire card without leaving any remainder.

        • if you purchase something that cost $59 can use pay the rest with with credit card or cash?

        • You can do that with Wish cards from BigW or Woolies. When you swipe the card at the machine, it deducts from the card and if more is required you can pay the rest with other methods.

But I don't know if that's possible with a Prepaid VISA. Never used one before.

        • Used a $50 prepaid Visa at Woolies 2 days ago to buy $69 Huawei X3 phone on special. (Activate card first online.) Just swipe, select CREDIT & need to sign. No problems - extra $19 came off a 5% off Woolies Gift Card.

Yep just entered by SNID into the site and it says in the T&C:

"This Cashback Offer by Acer Computer Australia Pty Ltd ABN 78 003 872 768 (Acer) is open to customers who purchase the Iconia A200 8GB WiFi from an Acer authorised reseller in Australia during the Cashback Offer period which is from 23-Dec-2011 to 30-Apr-2012. The customer must be a resident of Australia."

Very happy with the tab so far. Notice the screen is a little bit reflective and it is on the heavy side, but for $250 it's a fantastic deal IMO, given the current crop of overpriced Android tabs.

that is on the bottom of harveys page

        • Straight from the Acer Promotions website:

  • Question: How does cashback work here?

    • +9

ipad owner is being ipad owner…

    • +2

What's wrong with this tab? Its as good as an ipad 2…

It's hard to believe there re still people ignorant enough to worship apple…

      • -7

Good as an iPad 2… really?
        Just no.

This tablet is inferior to Apple's iPad 2.
But it's a pretty good tablet for its price.

        • I agree its nowhere near as polished the OS as Apple iOS, people can use what they want. My personal opinion is Android isn't as good, but it doesn't stop me from having one and an iPad 2, especially at this price.

    • Price is good. So why not?

    • Don't get sucked in by the trolling. Just neg the comment and move on.

      • I agree :)

  • What's the difference between this and A500??

    • Comments are above.
No rear camera and no HDMI output but virtually identical for a much cheaper price!

    • also the graphics card may not be as good 8g vs 16g internal storage is another drawback

  • How good is this tablet with video streaming website like vimeo, crunchyroll etc?

    • they both stream amazing, i tried both the apps, works great!

  • If you buy online from Harveys tonight, would the receipt have todays date, or tomorrows when I pickup from the store?

edit nevermind, noticed the cashback date ends 30 April, not tonight…sweet

  • weight — 700g

  • Just picked one up today at Chatswood after purchasing online last night.

I already had the A500 and this is for a family member.

Plugged it in and got offered the update to Android 4. Looks great and seems to be very responsive.
For the price, I'm very happy with the purchase.

In fact, I prefer the design over the A500 as I never use the HDMI or extra camera anyway.
(I got that one from an OB offer in 2011 :))

    • Although, now that I'm trying to get my cashback, the website says the SNID (serial number) cannot be verified.
The cashback offer must be within 2 weeks of purchase.

Hope ACER are not going to make me jump through hoops in order to actually get the cashback they've advertised.

      :(

      • I've got one last Saturday and today I used the SNID to print the cashback form. But I didn't get the Android 4.0.3 (ICS) on it yet =(

  • Harvey Norman website has it listed for $329. How do I get it for $298?

    • +1

it appears the price has been increased >:(

  • Man!
I got the tab, BUT the cashback is OVER!!!
even $100 eVoucher is NOT redeemable anymore!

  • HN at Erina had them for $444 on Saturday ?!!.
