Thanks, also sizing displayed very clearly (Brazilian size), see my question below.

Edit: ended up buying, may be worth a separate deal?

    • These are listed under womens shoes, but not sure if they are unisex?
In the mens shoes section, similar shoe is priced higher at 16

    They're also $10 at Aldi!!

    • *$11.99

I was just about to say this for anyone who misses out.

  • Wouldn’t it be the same as the $1 Kmart slippers already lol aka made from same Chinese factory but they just put Havana’s name to increase the selling cost lol

But yes I like Havana’s so I might buy a pair

    • +2

All genuine Havaianas are made in Brazil fyi

      • Oh wow didn’t know

      • The quality of them suck lately though, the plug always snaps on my recent ones from the last few years. Just this year I bought 3 pairs from Catch in February and I'm on my 3rd pair before the year is out.

I don't wear them in the Winter and have only been wearing them around the house and the sole is barely even worn. They used to last me a few summers and be all worn out and ragged before needing to change them.

The material feels different. Havaianas feels a lot more springy than the cheapies.

Yeah I had this argument with the missus. Havis are made in Brazil from Brazilian rubber so they should be better quality than the cheap Chinese ones.

I have since found a better thong than Havis if you are interested called 'Archies'. Pretty much the same as Havis but with arch support and a tighter strap so you can walk in them all day without issues.
They're not the cheapest, but if you live in thongs like me then they are worth it.

The displayed sizes say 7/8, 9/10, etc. Normally on Havaianas this is the US size as far as I know (can also be seen in the pictures), is this also what Kmart is displaying (the US size), can anyone confirm?

    • +1

      Yup, it's the US sizing.
e.g. on the label of mine it says
      UK 8
      AU 9
      EU 43/44
      US 9/10M

  • Thanks OP. Got 3.

If you brought 3 thongs means you are alien or you brought 3 pairs you are a spider

        Most men have a 3rd leg :)

  • naive question - how are these Havaianas diff than the basic $2-5 ones from Kmart, BigW etc?

    • +1

The rubber is more springy and pliable than the cheapies. The heel area should last longer without collapsing.
I only noticed it after I bought one on sale.

    • I got a pair for Christmas a couple of years back and found them to be similar but less comfortable than the kmart ones I usually get. Maybe they would last a little bit longer, but not worth 4 or 5 times the price. Kmart sells more reinforced ones as well for around $10 that would be more comfortable than and outlast the Havianas.

  • This brand is well over rated. They charge a premium for the brand but in my experience their thongs are just as flimsy as cheaper ones

    • +1

I've had about 5 or 6 Havianas over the same amount of years. The most one pair has lasted is one year. The shortest is two months. $1 cheapies from Kmart last longer and have better build quality. This brand is a disgrace, its only popular because of their marketing and designs

      • The most one pair has lasted is one year. The shortest is two months.

Did you know that Lewis Hamilton's tyres don't even last an hour! He should get the Chinese tyres instead, they last years! :)

Natural rubber is a natural product which is likely to wear quicker than plastic/rubber hybrids. Shorter life span is not always a bad thing.

        • Tell Lewis to get a hard compound.
Probably wouldn't matter anyway Max will still find a way to crash into him!
If the rubber doesn't last as long with natural then sell them for cheaper. I would never buy them again. They seem to find the cheapest stuff anyway, over the last few years when they changed manufacturing

Product quality went downhill after the new owners took over a few years back. You used to be able to get 2-3 summers out of a pair, good luck getting any more than 2-3 months from the pathetic toe straps before one snaps off

    • So true!! I recall I had a pair in the early-mid 2000s that lasted 3 years of solid use. Then as you say, they started snapping all the time - just as they became mainstream and prices went up and up.

    • Just posted the same thing, I'm on my 3rd pair this year, same thing every time the toe plug snaps.

      • The stupid things faIled on me at the start of a family walk around Port Melb/Beacon Cove and i had to walk around barefoot for an hour so that we wouldnt have to leave..

Have since bought Archie’s thongs and they have been fantastic so far.

  • there is no difference between these and the $1 clearance ones at kmart. you are just paying for the name. just walk fast and no one can't tell, lol.

    • Have you compared the two side by side? What are those made of?

The cheap ones that I've seen are made of less pliable material that feels more like a foam. They tend to stay compressed under the heel area. Some are made of polyurethane. These are made of rubber. They're softer and "springer" than the cheap ones I've compared them to.

      • its the rubber ones i got on clearance, very similar. ymmv.

  • Any idea about the grip on these? Sure they wont be anti slip but I had got some in the past that literally make you skate on smooth surfaces and not in a good way.
