From what I have tested, Samsung and LG phones are not capable of USB-C/alt-mode DP 1.4, only DP 1.2. So the "updated" version (which sounds like DP 1.4) might technically be "compatible" with those phones, but you will only be able to get at most 4K/30Hz.

Macbook Pro 2016/2017/2018/2019, Macbook Air 2018/2019 - again, dangerous quoting these. If they are 13 inch models, they too are limited to 4K/30Hz with these DP 1.4 based dongles. It does look like some of them are DP 1.2 based dongles, which could do 4K/60Hz with those devices, but the USB-A ports are USB 2.0. For 15 inch models, some are DP 1.4 capable, but some aren't.

Don't just look at the pictures, blue USB-A ports don't necessary mean USB 3.0 in some of them.

Read carefully about the product descriptions. Also, as usual, the way USB-C/PD pass through is quoting input voltage, not the output voltage. If you read some of the comments, you can roughly work out the power usage of the hub. It's not 87W out (as people have commented). Some customers were upset about that. As far as I know, only Anker has quoted correctly (indicating both max input and max output) in one of their products.

30Hz is fine for non gamers right?

      • +1

It works fine, but just feels sluggish.

        • Oh OK I just checked my monitor. It runs 59.95Hz. I think I got confused by movies frame rates.

      • Issue is more (1) you run 30Hz on a 4K/60Hz display and (2) those laptops / mobile phones do support 4K/60Hz, you just need the right type of dongle. But, if USB 3.0 and gigabit ethernet is more important, then sure, why not.

30 fps is pretty low. You will notice your mouse does not move smoothly across the screen which is annoying enough to me to be a non-starter.

    Will this do 2x 1440p @ 75hz?

  • Doesn't this seller make gummy bears ?

      Close that's Haribo.

  • Grabbed one last month, 4k 60hz via HDMI works for my X1 laptop.

    • +2

Which one in particular you purchased? Are the USB ports USB 3.0? Which model of X1, just out of interest.

Unable to get this to show $38.24. Applying the code gets it down to $42.70 (inc Credit Card fee)

    • You need to click on the 10% discount on the first page. Go through the checkout (with that 10% ticked), then apply the code listed on the page. I assume you are a Amazon Prime member.

      • Thx. That was easy. :) $37.67 in the end…

  • I have a laptop with no USB-C, but I see these USB3.0 to USB-C adapters around.

Does anybody know if these USB-C hubs would work that way? Not interested in power delivery.
