          • @meowsers: What's your review on it? What's the 2nd best chair you'd recommend that you've tried? For comparison.

            • +1

@Deal Hunter Go: When I was a uni student and onwards through the earlier part of my career i made do with office works chairs. Even relocated with one.

Then I wised up and bought a used herman miller. Best $300 ever spent. I was able to properly read and study for my masters without shuffling my butt around in the chair all the time.

The most comfortable one (aside from the steelcase) was a herman miller but a more plasticky task chair style.

This steelcase however is next level. My thighs don't get numb after a while. It doesn't creak.

Ultimately it's subjective. So you have to plop down in the chair you want to buy. But rule of thumb is if 10k people like it, there's a good chance you will like it.
If you use it every day or every other day for a few hours for 5 years. Isn't it worth it? People spend more on a phone or a purse these days.

  • Still want one with back reclining without moving the seat.

  • What else exists in the sub $100 range? I think what I’ve currently got is the Bathurst OW chair, and it’s lasted 3 or 4 years.

I spent quite a bit of time hunting chairs before Black Friday with plans to buy one during the sales. Visited a bunch of stores including OW, and honestly this chair feels like its worth $59

Its clumsy, the ones I tested were squeaky and just didn't feel solid. I'm not anywhere remotely close to 120kg either.

This kind of chair would be a bargain for someone who sits down and fires up their PC 2-3 times a week to pay bills, browse the web and watch a couple of YouTube videos.

IMO it would not suit an OzBargainer who is glued to their screen looking for the next best deal so they can impulse buy something they don't need just because it's a bargain.

Try before you buy in store if you are considering this chair 🙂

I did the exact opposite to all of your advice.

      • +1

        :D

        Do you like the chair?

        • +1

Picking up today, had been busy, will let you know, I doubt it would be any good being this cheap though.

  • Awesome, Thanks OP - Needed this for a child in this price range and just got ripped off on Ebay, so perfect timing.

  • Why does it say expired? I just bought one (Vic)

    • Still available in WA.

      • Got one in Adelaide too.

  • Unfortunately this item is currently out of stock!

I know OZbargainers swear by Buro or refurbished Herman Miller for office chairs .
What is the take on Rapidline.

  • thanks China, bought hope it helps Evergrande with their little issues

Is it more comfortable than my current $29 Kmart chair?

Might be more expensive to buy 2 for each butt cheek

  • Any decent office chairs on sale for under $200? I bought a cheap shitty gaming chair thinking would be working from home for a couple weeks which has turned into half a year, my back is not liking me too much anymore.

  • I got one for my son. Will report back in a while!

    • +2

Report back…. if you still have a son?

      • +1

may day may day, the chair ate the son

Ok I picked it up an hour ago.

Yes its very cheap and yes I managed to screw up putting it together. The base lift mech is the same on all the cheap Officeworks chairs. You can NOT lock the tilted position which is annoying as. Everything feels cheap and it has that china pest control smell.

$59 it's better than what i had which was a free chair with a busted mech but the seat is more comfy, it's not worth anything more though that's for sure. Also if you are not a skinny person don't bother it doesn't feel sturdy. 12 months warranty so if we snap it should be fine.

    • Oh can't lock the tilted position for the back support? If so i might have to cancel it

      • +1

I tried for 10 minutes and it wouldn't lock and i did a quick check it seems not.

        • It's says on OW site.
It has chair tilt, seat height and tilt tension adjustment.

I am going to pick up my chair now. If can't lock I will return as well

          • @Solowarrior: There is NO hole for the lock.. usually there is a hole for flat and a hole for tilt .. and there is no hole for it. you could drill one i guess.

        • +1

Does it lock upright? My current chair doesn't lock when tilted, only upright

          • +1

@1jwoz: Only one hole and locks upright.

  • Just grabbed one from Wetherill Park OW. still over 20± left.

  • +3

If you're under 175cm don't bother with this chair (unless you use a footrest), the base is deep and you'll end up getting pain. Flimsy AF, the bulges on the base against the legs are uncomfortable if you're not skinny. But for $59…. It'll do…

  • How does it compare to IKEA Renberget (sometimes goes on sale for ~ $65)?

    • +1

haha, I love those IKEA Renberget, bought them last time when they were $25 and bought two of those. This OW one' more firm and PU feel is a little annoying to butt I'm sure in summer it would be sweaty itch. I still prefer Ikea Renberget over the newly bought OW chair.

  • Thanks op bought one, I hope this combines well with the standing desk I’ve purchased with the Amazon deal.

  • +1

So is this any good or just another piece of junk. I bought one for C&C but will cancel if not worth anything before I spend the time & energy to pick, assemble & return :)

  • +3

Bought one, got my 2 boys aged 15 and 13 to assemble it themselves as a holiday activity - decent quality chair, comfortable, sturdy and well worth the $59 with the added bonus of a half hour of productive activity for the kids!

    • +1

      I like your parenting lol

  • Dont buy any chair with wings on the seat unless you are objectively slim and will fit between them comfortably.

  • This chair will peel faster than a banana inside a cage with starving monkeys.

  • Quality of office works chairs have been for me terrible. Last time I bought a "gaming chair" from office works, the foam wore out in about a year, and the "leather" started to peel and flake off leaving residue on skin and clothes.

Do yourself a favour and spend at least 200+ on a decent chair such as the ones from ikea

  • I just bought one for $89 this week. Would OW have a price drop policy? I can only see the competitors price match policy.

    • +2

Buy a brand new one at $59, then use the $89 receipt to return the "new" one.

    • How was the chair, did you like it

      • Good for the price

  • I got one for C&C but after sitting on the demo one in store I wasn't really happy with it. Ended up refunding and grabbing a bathurst chair for the extra $100 as I actually needed another chair. It felt much more tacky than the bathurst chair that I have had for the last 5-6 years with no issues or peeling. The wings are not good for someone who is wider as it pushes your shoulders forward. Can confirm it had the tilt capability but no way to lock it into the desired angle. No doubt though would be a cheapie quick fix for a kid or teenager if you don't want to spend much.

  • Sold out in Brizzy

  • After having many swivel chairs with wheels, I just prefer a fixed chair now.

  • Its not very comfortable as the wing push my shoulder a bit, and can't lock the tilted position, anyone if officeworks will still accept return if I have already used it?

    • If you can't return it, just push the wings with a fair bit of pressure. They'll move because it's just a wire frame holding the shape.

  • +2

OW were happy to refund the $30 when I told them I bad bought it for $89
