I think it’s a good price. Cheapest I have seen was through Fetch TV eBay store, normally $279 at times 15%~20% off

Edit: just found a previous similar price @Fetch TV store but sold out now

Edit 2: use 92BOYS3V75I19K for extra 10% thanks to Sprintz25, making it the cheapest I guess
Also this deal for further 15% using gift cards.

woah i got. few used ones i wanna dump to the tip

    • Used = locked?

      • old.

        • old model and one new and idk… i don't even know i got like two at least. they not locked cause I pay off on it on plan. they just let me have it.
Had FetchTV for feels like 10 year but hardly ever watched it. I have 3 counting the one i'm supposed to be using atm

    • Re-use, repurpose, recycle… Please don't send to landfill.

It's a pity the ISP locked ones can't be unlocked. Any one succeeded in unlocking one?

    • I wondered the same. Can you use the locked ones to at least watch free to air or even stream on in built apps?

      • +1

No they are locked before loading the OS/All PVR features

Use coupon code 92BOYS3V75I19K for an extra 10% off, found it online and it worked for me.

    • It’s actually at the bottom of the email with the fetch mighty deal..
Good call out, seems to be generic

  • +2

Got the same email and bought one.
There are some documentary and lifestyle channels only available here and Foxtel, and well…
I don’t want to give Rupert money if I can help it

    Chromecast is all you need

    • +5

So does chrome cast record, have 4 free to air tuners, and 1tb hard, or is chrome cast (almost) all you need? Not being picky just observation.

    • +1

I agree with safetest100, you can record 3 at the same time, record remotely, rewind, etc.

      • also, great for pausing live tv and nipping to the loo or making a brew.

  • Delivered with tracking by Tuesday 4th January

    • Mine is 30th Dec

Does anyone know what the ads are like or this this just like foxtel but cheaper?

    • Good question. I can't stand Foxtel any more because of the frequent sports-betting ads coming on… I can't believe I am also paying for this irresponsible advertising while subscribing to foxtel.

      • Don't forget about clear score ads.

      • As Fetch don't have any O&O channels, all advertising will be that of the host network. In other words, you'll get exactly the same amount of adverts as you do if you had the channel on Foxtel.

Will this stream Optus sports in HD?

    • Yeah it does. I'm not sure how HD it is but definitely not SD.

      • +1

Ok should have clarified, 1080 Full HD. Using the TV App is limited to 720.

        • Short answer: no. All OS content are max of 720p at the moment.

          • +2

@st1ng: Optus need to address this ASAP - they've got a new 6 year Premier League deal but can't offer better than 720p. It's 2021 not 2012.

            • @Craigw22: Yeh the 6 year deal was really disappointing…

  • Being Refurbished can anyone who got one comment on the condition,.. do they look new or they have few minor scratches or worse? Also which model remote comes with them,.. Netflix one?

    • They look new. I bought mine last year. It sometimes freezes (unresponsive) which needs a hard restart, but it's fine overall. As the issue is intermittent I've never bothered contacting Fetch about it.

      • That's normal, mine was bought brand new and rarely happens, noticed it happens when the Fetch upgrades in the background, yes simple reset fixes it

Edit: I upgraded my PC 27inch 4K monitor too 32inch 4K monitor and use the 27inch 4k monitor with my Mighty Fetch box,.. works like a charm (in my bedroom)

    • I would say a lot of them have been taken straight back as soon as people realized they needed a credit card to operate the device.

      • You only need a card to pay the $1 to activate the box.
        There's zero ongoing cost 👍

        • -1

If they wont take $1 extra in cash its blackmail

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: …how could they take a cash payment to an online account ?

I don't understand what you're trying to say - as an Ozbargainer you should already have a free credit card for online shopping (to avoid the additional risks of using a debit card) that you pay off in full every month, whilst accumulating free airline/Coles/other points. Use that card for this payment. It simply adds $1 on to the retail price of the box 🤷‍♂️

            • @Nom: Ive got lots of online accounts that didnt cost me $1. Admit it, this is a tactic to get a solid payment plan for extra content.

Best set top box on the market hands down.

  • Can you use this as a free to air set top box? Tuner RF inputs? Can it record free to air? I want to replace my noisey (Microsoft Media Centre) PC that I use to do this function.

    • Yes, Yes and Yes

      • Thanks. Sounds like it's also a yes from me too! Bought.

        • Another question, but probably too late now anyway seeing I've already bought it… does this device have a 30 sec (or similar duration) skip function to jump the ads? I can't seem to find this in their FAQs

          • @Fluid Head: Yes though not sure what the duration is and of course only for recordings

Has another feature to skip commercials easily,.. called "back tracking" (you can set length) which back tracks at when you hit play on super fast forwarding (@ x32 speed), so you can view as it back tracks to catch so one can catch the end of the commercials and hit ay again, great feature I'm sure most high end PVRs have

          • @Fluid Head: It can skip 5 mins forward (too long on ads for purpose). Because this is a freeview branded box, they have purposely removed any ability to easily skip ads. You have to use good old fast forward which is fine. Having had so much practise in fast forwarding ads you can get it down to a fine art.
