We haven't been able to run one in two years because of COVID. But we are hoping people will come back in the new year!

Will Descent or Duke Nukem 3D be featuring at all?

    • They won't be main events, but there's heaps of casual games going on around the room, it's usually pretty easy to get a game of just about anything going.

And if enough people play a game casually, it will likely become a main tournament at the next event.

  • Great work guys. There was some chatter on r/Brisbane recently around the old big name LAN parties that used to happen and gathering interest on renewing them. Glad to see the build is happening down south too :) Best of luck for a successful event.

  • Reminds me of Shafted & Big day in.

Funny when the parents go home and the lights turn off. Out comes direct connect, the warez and um yep.

    • Oh sweet. Was wondering if DC++ was a thing still.

      • It's still what comic scanners/rippers use to release comics.

That's a bit of a pessimistic take on it, but there is a chance it could happen.

There are a few issues i see here.
Price on OZB and on the website don't match (website says $15.50 for a BYO seat).
FAQ is vague on things like power limits, size limits etc.
—- Whilst I'd agree it shouldn't need to be said some toss will try to bring a 65" screen, having a clear heads up against this ahead of time is just good sense.

And as far as covid goes with Omicron an emerging threat and early vaxxers effectiveness possibly waning it is a concern that should be addressed somehow.
I'd prefer to know the people around me are vaccinated.
Others might have differing opinions but i'd like to think the event had more guidance than only 5 FAQ items and pricing on the site that is cheaper than what is posted here.

      • To address the issues you've mentioned.

        • The price should be correct if you input the promo code during checkout.
        • In the very rare case that someone brings a giant screen, or a PC that requires 2400 watts of power, we are prepared for those scenarios and can accommodate.

As mentioned in the description, vaccines are required for all attendees, and when purchasing a ticket you have to explicitely say that you are vaccinated. We will also be checking certificates upon entry.

        • It looks like you've edited the prices.
The deal previously stated $15 for console and $20 for PC

I don't recall seeing a mention of requirement of vax status on this deal but I could have missed it, was certainly not on the website when I was looking for it.

That's a fair concern, but we are taking the precautions that we can.

      • Only fully vaccinated people will be able to attend the event.
      • We've removed certain activities we've previously had that we don't feel are going to be safe in this current environment.
      • We're providing everyone that attends with an individual bottle of hand sanitizer.
      • Food at the event will all be prepared and served in a COVID-safe manner.

Obviously there's only so much we can do. But we feel that we are doing everything we can.
