Argentina is $2 a month for family

    • +1

This promo is $2 for 3 months on the family plan

      • +4

        Argentina's offer is a better deal if you want to continue on Tidal (1+11.99 = $12.99 or 2+23.99 = $25.99 vs 2x4 = $8)

As for me I'm happy with Spotify. I'll take the increased song library over 9126kbps streaming lol.

        • +1

          Tidal (1+11.99 = $12.99 or 2+23.99 = $25.99 vs 2x4 = $8)

          sorry whats this mean?

          • @agentsmith1: Cost of 4 months of Tidal Hifi using OP's deal

            1+11.99 = $12.99

Cost of 4 months of Tidal Hifi Plus using OP's deal

            2+23.99 = $25.99

Cost of 4 months via Argentina

            2x4 = $8

For 3 months it is cheaper to use OPs deal. If you stay for 4 months though it is cheaper to use VPN.

            • +1

@decc0: awesome makes sense now thx a bunch. looks like 3 months is the easiest for free

  • So do I sub and then cancel immediately?

  • Well SQ/Block is listing in Australia so more deals coming.

  • Hey music fans!
    This one's for you.
For a limited time, enjoy 3 months of TIDAL HiFi Plus for A$2 or TIDAL HiFi for A$1.

    What's the diff?

  • Nice

  • +12

These guys are crooks. Charged me after 6 month deal even though I had cancelled. Wouldn't refund and had to get chargeback from my card company. Not worth the hassle.

    • +8

thats why I always cancel linked accounts in paypal. No way for them to charge me afterwards.

      • How does that work? Do you just pay via paypal, and then have a special "Tidal" paypal account that you can cancel?

    • +3

Exactly my experience - was subscribed for a while, cancelled then several months later they reactivated my subscription out of the blue.

I cancelled again and contacted their support, who told me my account must have been compromised and someone reactivated my subscription. I was the only person to login to the account on my PC and phone, and look after my unique passwords well. Regardless it doesn't make much sense that a would be "hacker" would just resubscribe me to a service I cancelled!

Refund was not forthcoming so did the old bank chargeback and haven't heard from them since.

Sound quality was noticeably better than Spotify, especially on quality headphones/DAC, and they had almost all the songs I had in several playlists on Spotify. But I wouldn't go back after that crap. If you want to take up the cheap deal then I would recommend doing what @simontadaa does and have a way to completely cut them off if you cancel later.

      • +1

Sounds like a tidal wave of BS. What a crazy accusation to blame the end user.

        • I understand it could possible, should an account be breached, but they accused me of resubscribing with no record the IP that logged in to do so. In fact if I check my account history the only receipt shown was the sudden re-subscribe months after I cancelled. No previous receipts on record :(

I didn't even get an email to say the subscription had started again…I had to check my bank records to see it! I use strong unique passwords for every service and had completely uninstalled Tidal several months prior when I cancelled.

Unless they had a security breach without saying so, there is just no way I resubscribed without knowing. Do a google search and you'll see this has happened to others in the past…

    • I had to send a request to cancel my account manually as their web site cancel button didnt work

      Weird…

  • +9

How was this ever worth $24 a month? More expensive than UHD Netflix.

    • Premium product for specific users. 9mb per second streaming is more then your ISP provides.

  • I am using Education hifi plus plan, $11.99/Mo after 3 months, I will cancel it on time.

  • +6

Good service. Quality of the application has improved significantly over the course of the last year, definitely catching up to Spotify. Disappointed there was no Wrapped equivalent this year as for me it is a fun dumb gimmick to look forward to. My biggest gripe is that it's missing a few albums from I wouldn't classify as niche, but less popular artists and bands, one that comes to mind off the top of my head is there's a missing Violent Soho album (which happens to be their best one). There is however a request missing music webpage which I'm yet to use. Not sure how reliable they are in that respect. They seem to give more back to musicians too, your most listened to band of the month gets a portion of your subscription money.

    Promotional campaign runs until 01.02

Is that 1st of February or 2nd of January? Don't know which system Tidal uses.

    • +3

      This

  • Got 6 months free and everytime I would listen to it to and from work on the bus it would randomly disconnect during a song and stop playing like as if I lost internet connection or something but I hadn't.

If not for this issue I would have kept my subscription because I actually liked it. I have now used Apple music, Spotify and Youtube Music and have never had this issue arrise ever so it must have been tidal app.

  • +3

Cheaper if you move to Argentina

  • YouTube Premium 6-person plan for $3.50/m is worthwile if you make a secondary profile (channel) so that your music history is seperated from your viewing profile.

    • How do you do that?

      • +1

You download a free VPN extension like HOXX for Chrome or Firefox, making sure to have it deactivated when not using it.

Choose India and then go to YouTube Premium, using a fake Indian address for billing info, I have no issue using Macquarie or Up for payments in Rupees.

The price should be 189 Rupees for up to 6 people, You can save some money choosing a single person, but you don't need add anyone upfront, it just allows you to add anyone to your regular AU Google Family which automatically grants them YouTube Premium features.

Outside of the billing you no longer need to use a VPN to have Premium as it is a universal subscription. You will have some Indian suggestions in your feeds for a couple weeks but they will go away after you haven't clicked on them.

  • Can you hear the improved audio quality on some sony XM4's ?

    • +2

Almost surely not. Normally people train themselves to notice the compression artifacts, and I doubt XM4s have a good enough sound quality to reveal the differences.

You can try for yourself using something like foobar2000 with an ABX plugin. Get a lossless and lossy version of your favourite song, put them both into the ABX plugin and see if you can tell the difference.

    • The best way to test this is to download a few tracks that you know well in lossless and compare.

    • Nah xm4s are just bloated bass mess

  • I checked my email and i got an email for 90 days for $1 TIDAL Hifi. But i was able to instead select Hifi Plus for $2 after clicking through the offer from the email.

  • bugger i didnt get any email at all, i havent used tidal in about a year, oh well

    • +1

Keep checking now and then. My email didn't come through until early this morning.

  • i shall as when i check for those 2 offers it tells me they have expired so hopefully that changes for me

  • Not just for new users. Also for inactive users. I like Tidal. Not sure if you can do it with the others, but you can do a playlist of songs by Producers or writers of songs, not just artist or style of music.

Day 35862: still waiting for Spotify HIFI…

  • +2

There is a great video on why TIDAL's MQA is just hype, if you are serious about HIFI and want to use steaming, try Qobuz.

  • Good Deal, Just a heads up that the music style can be weighted towards R&B, Rap and the like.

    • +1

Yes it's pretty clear the main audience is American college students

    • +1

Yeah well it was owned by Jay z early in its growth stage

  • is it possible to transfer spotify playlist to tidal?

  • -1

    can one download as mp3?

    • A. Perhaps
      B. Why?

  • Thanks op, been meaning to test out Sony 360 Reality Audio :)

  • Thanks OP.
Love the tidal sound quality but hate their app as I always seem to have issues.
    Saving me heaps!

  • I've got both Spotify Premium and Tidal HiFi. In the car when Bluetooth streaming / Android Auto wireless, there's barely any difference. This might due to BT limitation. However on the home hifi using the Tidal app on my TV connected via HDMI to my speakers, the quality is amazing! But paying almost $40 a month to have both is a rip off, and I much prefer the Spotify interface and library. Thanks for the trial Tidal, but don't think I'll continue with it

    • Use a chopper and fly to Argentina where it cost like $2 for a family account

      • Any ideas of how to get the payment to process for argentina? No luck so far with amex/revolut/wise/coles

        • +1

Keep VPN on until the payment process. Turn it off, put cc details and submit. Email needs to be a fresh and haven't been registered with tidal.

Price on the page might show $245 or something, it's normal, this isn't actually going to charge you in dollars, should be in Argentine peso

        • didnt work for citi or ing… it did accept cba though for me.

  • +1

Its the best music platform if you have higher end gear. I'm talking expensive headphones, Dacs, Amps.

If you just listen off your phone with airpods, use bluetooth or in car/gym etc…..stick with Spotify

When Spotify goes lossless i'll be switching back.

  • hi sorry so is it better to get the deal from Argentina or just do 3 free months here?? Dont want to pay for it after 3 months unless its cheap cheap

    • how do you do you suns bribe to the Argentina account?

    • $2/month using a vpn or,
$2 for first 3 months then $36/month there after

      Quick mafs go

  • +6

Don't subscribe to Tidal, they have history of charging customers unscrupulously several months after you cancel. And they refuse to refund.

Just Google "tidal charging ex customers", and you will see history of doing this for years and years.

  • +1

"You are not eligible for that offer." on 2 accounts.

    • Same

  • MQA is a con, but it's good for the Flac. I generally just use the web player and mobile app, which to their credit they have made a lot better despite it still needing work.

If you use BT headphones, don't waste youe money, but for wired songs do sound better.

I have this and Deezer (partner prefers Deezer and it gives 2 accounts for the same sub)

  • I want to try subscribing to Tidal with the Argentina family plan but when I reach the payment page there isn't any PayPal option? Have they removed it or is it just me doing something wrong? 🤔😢

  • done, thanks!
